I was 12 years old when I started using the internet. The year was 1999 and I just got my new computer. A Celeron 466mhz, 128mb ram, riva tnt graphic card. Dialup internet was what I had back then.

I remember the dial-up days of the late 90s. Then we got Optimum in 2000 and never looked back.

I think i started using the internet when i entered middle school. I think that was a pretty good age to start. I hate how nowadays every 3 year old knows how to navigate YouTube. It's unsafe and they have no need of it.

I think I started using the internet in Elementary School sometime, maybe 3rd grade.

Pretty much only played things like Webkinz, Club Penguin, ToonTown, Neopets, and other online games like that.

I started using the compurer at age of 4 but I didn't use the internet until age of 8 or 9 perhaps. And only because I heard of that online game called Runescape. I didn't speak a word of English back then but that game taught me the language better than the school ever did

I've been using computers as early as 2006, but I don't think I actually used the internet until around 2010. I would've been about 7 at that time.

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

I've been on the internet since the beginning. 16k dial-up was the new fastest thing when everyone had 4k and 8k.

Amstrad CPC 464 - Wikipedia
I was born in 1984 when this thing came out.

It loads games from a tape cassette, Its memory was 64kb

4GB in kb = 4,194,304 KB

Pixels were like Duplo bricks back then.

I still remember the first time seeing "the internet" and learning what it was in like 2nd or third grade in like 1996 or 1997. Our class sat down around a computer on a cart desk outside the librarians office and she explained how the internet worked and what it was. I still remember the computer and the external modem. She explained it all very well.

I really didn't use the internet until middle school though. We got a computer at home when I was 10, but didn't get internet until about 2001 when I was 12-13. It was AOL dial-up with a 56K modem. I really didn't do a whole lot online at first since the internet wasn't anywhere near like it is today. It was more of a not really needed novelty. There was no YouTube or social media. AIM (AOL instant messenger) was fun once in a while but was basically the equivalent to texting before smartphones. I was far more interested in video games at the time on the computer. I mainly used it for school and would look up cheat codes for games. I know I also used Kazaa, (which was like Napster) for downloading some music too, which is where I began to see the slowness of dial-up. I remember my dad thought he was really doing a good job with the parental control options in AOL, but all I had to do was open up internet explorer and it overrode everything.^_^ I really didn't use internet for NSFW stuff. When I used the computer it was mainly for school or something with video games.

The time limit control was annoying though, and I couldn't get around that. It would just shut off.:yeahno:

In a few years we got DSL and then I got a router and was able to get WiFi to my room computer. Then finally normal cable internet in the 2010's

I think the age I was was a good age to start using internet, especially considering the age of the internet at the time. There really wasn't much interesting stuff for kids at that time anyways.

I wouldn't say I'm addicted. If I didn't have internet for a few days, I would have PLENTY of other things to do instead. There are definitely some things I've seen on the internet that I would've rather not, BUT I'm against censorship. I AM all for TOGGLE-ABLE safesearch/filters though- but by your choice.

Something funny I remember that's internet related is a few times that I tried to go on the internet when my mom was on the phone. The computer modem would try to start dialing and you could hear it and my mom's phone call conversation at the same time, and she would hear the modem also. She would yell, "I'm on the phone!" and you would hear it through the modem speaker.

I started using it at age 9, but only to play learning games. Then at age 10, I started using the internet  to look at weather/google earth. I didn't start making accounts until I was like age 17 or so. I know that's pretty late than most of you, but that's when I did. LOL

I was in second grade when I first used the internet for learning. That was around 2001. I've been using the internet regularly since January 2012.

I seem to remember poking around online when I was in my early tween years. I didn’t spend much time on it, just like now. It was a passing novelty that didn’t hold a lot of interest. Now I have no choice but to use it for necessities but I don’t really like hanging out if I don’t have a particular reason.

My first exposure to the Internet (that I can still remember) happened in the late 1990's to early 2000's. It wasn't daily use though, we'd just be allowed on to play certain games or to print off coloring sheets.

I didn't get daily Internet access until around 2009.
