Hey, random question. Considering Octavia is your favourite, I would assume you would know. I've seen all the episodes, but did I miss something? Was there ever a part of an episode where it was seen that Vinyl and Octavia were like roomates or lived together? Or has that just become the mass assumption created by fans?

I believe I saw some fan made video about Octavia and Vinyl in an interview together. But I rewatched all the Pony episodes on Netflix and I can tell you there is no proof that they lived together.

It's mostly assumed. Since they are the two most popular music ponies from the show, they have been paired in some fanfics and since their music styles are so differnt it can make for some conflict. This happens quite a bit with real room mates and helps to drive the story. Also there is a video on youtube called Epic wub time in wich they live together. But no, they are not even seen together in the show itself.
