Why can most colt's, Fillies, and Foals Fly, and Scootaloo can't?

My thought was that Scootaloo could fly... once. Lemme explain

Maybe as a foal she could fly. But she had some kind of accident, or while learning to fly she fell and hurtt herself and it stopped her wings from developing any more.

Which would be why she still tries to fly, like she can get them working again. If she couldn't fly at all due to a birth defect or handi-cap, she couldn't be able to hold her body up when she falls out of the tree in Ponyville Confidential. But a stop in her developement might explain her small capability and her use of her wings on her scooter.

Just my theory, you know. Faust might have wanted her to be handi-capped, but, that was what I thought had happened.

That explains everything.

Scootaloo can't fly because her wings aren't mature enough to, or Scoot's doesn't have to confidence to fly. We should have an episode about that.

Have the courage to think and act on your own. And have the courage to disobey.

Scootaloo can't fly since Lauren Faust made her can't fly, because she said that Scootaloo is handicapped, she will never be able to fly.. :(

It isn't the fact that she isn't strong TO lift her body, she's practically one of strongest CMC other then possibly Apple Bloom. She's shown how strong she is through Cutie Mark Chronicles. She pulled ponies, supplies, and even Pinkie Pie at the same time. Not only that, but with a kick start that isn't very strong in its own right. (Maybe not even a kick start. She used her wings the entire time)Its not the strength that matters. Watching Sleepless in Ponyville, my conclusion is final:

Magic. Her magic isn't powerful to lift her. In Winter Wrap up, we were explained that Pegasi use the magic around them along with magic in their own bodies to fly. Scootaloo was flung high enough to touch a cloud, she clearly did in a scene, but she didn't seem to manage to stay on it. (She ultimately is strong, but she never really stayed on the cloud. ) Plus, she never seemed to really try hard enough to fly in the same episode, in Ponyville Confidential, she tried not to fall and tried to stay afloat in the air, and that wasn't even as bad as being over the cliff. I think she ultimately knows her limitations and simply chooses not to talk about it or completely ignore it.

Its not

Hmmmm.... then perhaps she is crippled, but it's kind of an unspoken thing. Maybe she's sensitive about it... How would they bring something like that up in an episode.

Applebloom: Hay Scootaloo... Whaaay aint you able to flaay like all the other pegasus ponehs

Scootaloo: *sniff* *sniff* *cry* :'(

Its not very hard actually to address something like that in a way that is appropriate for a kids show.

This sorta sounded like something a kids show can do. It also seems in character for her to do something exactly like this.

Question: Why does Scootaloo always have her wings open in some scene? It bugged me in One Bad Apple.

Scootaloo doesnt need to fly. She can go really fast on her scooter. She might not be physically able go fly but I dont think she suffers much from it (unless she does secretly). Its not like her wings dont serve a purpose, because they do. She wouldnt be able to go so fast on a scooter without them. She doesnt show any interest in really flying. She admires Rainbow Dash's speed and her personality. She may mature and grow bigger wings, but still I think she would rather be on a scooter going even faster.

Scootaloo is a HER. Female. She-pony. ETC. But anyway, I think that she can't fly because she has a disability.

"Pay attention to these petals, Steven. The petals' dance seems improvised, but it is being calculated in real time based on the physical properties of this planet. With hard work and dedication, you can master the magical properties of your gem and perform your own dance!"

What do you think of me?:

That's what I think was bad with Flight to the finish. They never explained or even showed if Scootaloo could even fly at some point in life or did something happen. As for the question there could be many reasons why she can't fly.

She could be disabled.

Late bloomer.

Has no interest in flying.

Or maybe there is something wrong with her. I mean if she wanted somepony to teach her, why did she just not ask? There are many who could teach her. Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, the big white pony, some random background pony, heck even Pound Cake could teach her.

But why do people make such a big deal out of this? Up tell now Scootaloo has had zero interest in flying and well most likely not fly and even if she does fly most likely nothing well change about her. Anyway that's what I think anyway.

Here's a concept that works, no Pegasus should be proportionately be able to fly, so they use magic.

However we know unicorns are the only ponies consciously able to use magic, so Pegasus' use their magic in a subconscious way. They believe they can achieve flight and their subconscious magic lets them. This explains why all the best Pegasus flyers are self absorbed overconfident dickbags, their own self coincidence and self-esteem fuels their ability to fly.

Examine this further, a Pegasus foal might be able to fly and even support pinkie pie because it doesn't realize it shouldn't be able to, where as Fluttershy who grow up among the clouds and knows she can fly can barely create a breeze because she thinks she shouldn't be able to. Enter Scootaloo who seems like a Pegasus that grew up earth bound, with obvious self-esteem issues due to her lack of a cutie mark, a hero/idol complex that she seeks to fulfill only by learning to fly directly from Rainbowdash and any other issues I'm to lazy to search for or whatever and we have one very grounded filly.

*insert sexist joke here*

Maybe Scootaloo needs to lay off the hayburgers ;).

Not sure, it wouldn't hurt the storyline if she finally learned to fly. Hopefully they don't needlessly zoom in on her flank if and when she learns to fly, unless learning to do something like flying is her talent, just, learning (i.e., she shouldn't get her cutie mark when she learns to fly unless there's more to it).

It would best help if she learned to fly when she needed to fly, like falling to her death (anyone remember Dot from A Bug's Life?...I just did, I haven't watched that movie in a loooong aiss time. I should do that..soon lol.).

science mathematically proves that a bumble shouldn't be able to fly, and yet it does? So why can't he?

but as for chicken scootaloo, i'm not sure, she can obviously go really fast because of the wings on the scooter, get extra jump and even hover half off the ground (the other half is in a puddle) i don't know why she can't.)

The idea that scientists have proven that bumblebees should not be able to fly is a common and thoroughly debunked urban legend.
