Discordian 6,015 January 8, 2012 Share January 8, 2012 (edited) Zap Apples = Most creative thing to come out of the show yet. They really are the most creative thing to happen so far and they were only the accessory to the actual story of this episode! This is definitely my favorite episode so far. Discordian 6,015 January 8, 2012 Author Share January 8, 2012 I started watching this episode with pretty much no expectations. Only to find polychromatic electromagical fruit, and the story of Ponyville's founding. Medieval Canterlot was also great to see, and I found it neat to finally learn a little more about Granny Smith (whom we've seen a few times before). Now, we just need a good Big Macintosh episode. Is it just me, or has Granny Smith finally gotten that new, artificial hip that Applejack mentioned she wanted to purchase with the money she was hoping to make at the Grand Galloping Gala? She seemed pretty springy to me. Just a friendly note: I think your topic is better off merged into the episode discussion thread, since the zap apples were a very episode-specific thing. Aww, I didn't want it to be mixed in with the episode discussion. I was speaking specifically of the Zap Apples in comparison to the series more than the episode. Oh well, guess it doesn't particularly matter, I just didn't want the topic to be unseen.

Discordian 6,015 January 8, 2012 Author Share January 8, 2012 Thanks Feld0. I actually tried to avoid rambling about the episode because I wanted it to be separate, I was hoping it would have avoided being merged if I didn't talk too much about ep 12. Kyreth 194 January 11, 2012 Share January 11, 2012 I liked how the tree punishes you if you try to pick them too early. I was imagining the apple shouting 'Damn it I'm not ready yet!' I have to say the Timber Wolves were my favourite part of this episode, they just looked so awesome! I can't make signatures. Sooo... yeah

Silly Kodiak, Those weren't rainbow apples, they were zap apples! Zap apple just has a prismatic properties due having high electron density. Being spawned from lightning has its effects after all and such high energy content contained to a fruit will definitely cause a prismatic reflection of light. If zap apples were to be brought to our reality it would look completely different, as the rainbow halo in the fruits peel would move as you move the apple and shift the refraction surface to your eye. I used to be a stranger 7,993 January 12, 2012 Share January 12, 2012 Interestingly, the zap apple's shape is reminiscent of a red delicious. It also makes me realize that the common apples that they grow most resemble the macintosh cultivar.
Pinkie Pyro 0 January 12, 2012 Share January 12, 2012 I love when Apple Bloom tries to pick the Zap Apples haha. What would happen was kinda expected. That was funny, but I almost fell off my chair when Sweetie Belle tried to buck them off. All in all, a creative idea, but as far as it goes, not the most creative imo.
