Everypony Hates Twilight?

Galaxia

Recommended Posts

I feel like I could easily be wrong, and the title is a bit misleading, but here's my opinion.

I only see Twilight hanging out with either herself or the entire group. Fluttershy is friends with Rainbow Dash since they've known each-other longer, but you still see her with Pinkie and Rarity.

If anypony was the main character, it would be Twilight. However, I feel like she is generally shunned by the group. I honestly think the rest of the cast hangs around with her just because she has friends in high places.

Even in S02 E23: Mystery on the Friendship Express Pinkie has a huge level of disrespect towards Twilight, Applejack doesn't value her opinion in that one episode where she bucks way too much. It's clear that everypony is aware of her high magical ability and connections, I mean, the only time any other pony was nice to her was in The Ticket Master, and it was only because they wanted her tickets.

In closing, the rest of the Mane 6 seems to trust each other no-matter what happens or what poor choices they make. But when Twilight questions Cadence she gets shunned by the rest of her friends.

Thoughts?

I seem to see what your saying, but the part about Cadence is justifiable, because honestly, did it look like Cadence was going to be evil. It also could be because she is a bookworm, and I guess she likes to keep to herself.

Okay. Staccato. I see your point and I raise you: The Last Roundup

When they found out Applejack was ditching them (Or that's what they thought) they still supported her decision.

I think Twilight just hasn't alowed herself to become a full part of the group yet. She is still stuck in her books most of the time, but she'll get there. Also in The Stair Master shes haveing tea with Fluttershy at the end.

Ah! That she was.

Perhaps this could be attributed to Fluttershy's friendly nature.

I'm sure the animators/writers aren't hating Twilight intentionally, I think it's a funny coincidence though.

It's just one of the things that makes Twilight herself, you know, being easily mooched off of. Although everypony has their flaws and their place in the group, so I guess Twilights is to be hated and disrespected.

Some people may of senced I was joking, but if not what I really mean is that their is some nice evidence that points to the fact that everypony is not needed in the group at one time or another. That's what makes the show special.

(or something like that, I don't know, I'm tired...)

I think every one of the mane 6 and other characters get knocked off or mistreated time to time, but I don't think she's hated, more like Rainbow Dash if anypony (No offense to RD fans).

I know Dragons aren't Ponies, but I think Spike gets knocked off WAYY more than any of the characters in the entire show, from what they've shown so far. Just my opinion though.

Why do you think Rainbow is hated? When she bragged, instead of shunning her they concocted an elaborate plan to teach her a lesson.

I'm quite sure they don't hate her.

It's just her personality to be less social than her friends. And against Cadance, her friends were to caught up in what they were doing to noticed.

Ummm...Galaxy? To be honest, the Applebuck Season chapter thing is not quite the good defense point. Let's be honest. Would Applejack have heard ANY other pony, especially with how stubborn she normally is, and with having sleep deprivation issues that would probably altered a bit her mind anyway? She didn't hear brother for Celestia's sake! She would NOT have listened to Rarity, given their opposite personalities, She would have NOT listened to Rainbow due to friend/rival thing, Fluttershy wouldn't have been pushy enough to fully convince her, and Pinkie Pie would be WAY too random to actually address the situation on a proper manner. Ironically, it raises more plus point for Twilight, because she would have been the best pony to try and convince her. All was left was Big Mac, who she didn't initially listen, hence wouldn't have listened later, Applebloom, even LESS when it's the little sister trying to tell what to do, epecially at what she does best, and I don't know if Granny Smith would have realized the problem well enough on the matter...translation, Twilight was the best for the job to bring Applejack out of her stubborness  .

I understand they were caught up. But when they didn't believe other members of the cast earlier in the season, they weren't nearly as rude as they were in the episode.

Now, note 14:15 onwards. Look how much distaste the rest of the mane 9 has towards her.

I think this clearly states how much more understanding the cast is of the other members of it then they are of Twilight.

Also, note 17:35 onwards.

Come to think of it, I don't think that Twilight feels more friendly to one mane six or the other. Most of the time she is seen with one other pony, she is usually helping out other ponies (like Applejack in Ticket Master).

I like how popular my little "experiment" in mixing a Riggs song with the Last Roundup chase scene is getting. ^_^

Anyway, I find this to be just a huge coincedence. Either way "hate" would be too strong of a word to describe it.

I think Thunder Bolt's comment is the most plausible to explain this little theory.

For example, I relate very strongly with Twilight, in that books and my computer are pretty much the majority of my life, and making friends has always been a minor concern to me. But I do have friends outside the internet. Why don't we hang out unless we're at school or work on my movie project? Because of me. I'm just not the "hanging out" type yet. But that doesn't mean I have any less friends, or that my friends have any less respect for me (let alone to the extent of hating me).

Wait, where's the bad part in The Last Roundup? And in A Canterlot Wedding, let's be honest, first, they TRIED to convince her that she was being too paranoid. When that didn't work, they saw that words wouldn't convince her that easily. Plus, truth is, none of them knew just how close Twilight and Cadance where before, hence, didn't understand WHY she was so paranoid.

Interesting observation, and pretty true -- you do not generally see twilight one on one with other ponies unless she has a specific purpose to do so. This is lampshaded in the fanfic "Letters from a disgruntled friendship student -- especially this one... http://www.fimfiction.net/story/30661/29/Letters-From-A-Disgruntled-Friendship-Student/Lesson-Zero

Note there is some foul language in the above short story.

Eh she's like me, it looks like we're least appreciated and treated unfairly, but our friends are always there to lend us a helping hand/hoof when we really need them

First MMMystery was episode 24 not 23. Just me being a nerd. Now for the rest.

I feel that Pinkie Pie goes to Twilight to get advice. In the episode Griffon the brush-off and a friend in deed, she went to Twilight to get advice on something. I could be off on this.

Also for the Cadence part Twilight did not give much proof to her friends that said she was evil. Twilight just came in the room and said she's evil. She also showed in the episode that she did not like her brother getting married.

I know that at the very least, Pinkie Pie truly sees Twilight as a friend, because she was the first to greet her and she set up a party for her. Then again, everypony is her friend, so that point might be moot.

I think all of her friends hold her in high regard, they at the very least respect her abilities. Remember when Trixie was showing off? Everypony wanted Twilight to show her up and put her in her place. And I'm pretty sure that by driving off that Ursa Minor, she won a bunch of respect points. So yes, she is at the very least respected IMO.

Oh, there's no question that she's respected in Ponyville, but I'm prepared to take it a step further.

I never noticed this before, but now it's all starting to click together..I mean, in the first episode, all Rarity cared about was the fact that she was from Canterlot..hmmm...

not to mention that fluttershy was in it for twi's assistant spike not even caring about twighlight what's you're opinion on that

To be honest their elaborate douchish plan in lieu of talking to her made me briefly suspect that they hated RD

But back on topic no they don't hate Twilight. Only problem is that Twilight is the newest addition to their group and hasn't really become better friends with any of them than the rest, like Dash with AJ, Pinkie and Fluttershy, Rarity with Fluttershy etc. they seem to like her a lot and include her in activities whenever appropriate. As for A Canterlot Wedding they didn't really see a lot of the things that Twilight saw. They did however see twilight being really overprotective of her brother and attributed it all to Cadence's stress and Twilight's paranoia. And even Twilight herself when confronted with an alternative that made sense thought she'd been wrong.

I think its just a personality kinda thing. Shes a bookworm kinda pony with not as much interest in hanging out with otherpony's all the time as the others. I don't think its because they hate her or she hates them or anything. She simply reads alot.

I guess technically the others have know each other longer so they'll hang out more.

Even friends can disagree with each other at times, and even then it's not because of personal issues/antagonism. Applejack was unreceptive of Twilight because she was 1) very tired and thus not mentally "whole" and 2) cared more about meeting obligations and her self-conception of being able to do many things on her own than reexamining her own situation. Pinkie was well, just being her crazy self. I doubt if anypony else volunteered to be her partner she would act any differently.

Remember, the show wouldn't be half as interesting if all the ponies were shown to be doing was having nice tea parties together.

What you said about Twilight hanging out with either herself or all the rest of them, and not hanging out with just one other pony.

I think that goes to show that she has the most friends, if she hangs out with the five of them.
