To be honest I never understood two things

1: how they got left behind in the first place

2: why rarity didn't just answer the question. I mean sure, Pinkie would have kept annoying her but I'd have answered just to get off the topic

1. Dash and Fluttershy were pulling Pinkie, Rarity and Twilight in a wagon to chase after AJ when she broke that Pinkie Promise and ran away from them. Pinkie jumped on AJ's wagon but fell off and took Rarity with her. Dash was so determined to catch AJ that she didn't stop to let them back on.

TWI: "Rainbow, go back!"

DASH: "No time! They knew what they were getting into."
