gaming Favorite Major Antagonist(s) in Video Games

W ho is your favorite villain who plans a major role in a story of a game, and/or has showed up with quite a few scenes in multiple games of that title?

Bowser, Dr. Wily, Ansem, Ganon, and many other villains fit this.

Easily the best villian of any Zelda game ever although i liked fighting him in Ocarina of Time than i did in any other game (Wind Waker comes close second)

Mine has to be The Lich King, Arthas from Warcraft. His story from Warcraft 3 really got my attention, and coming up to him on World of Warcraft made me beard all over the floor. It was messy.

Coming in second was Richter from Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World.

Kefka Palazzo because anyone who wants to create a monument to non-existance from existance itself is at least 20% evil'er.

Also for this

The dude actually destroyed the world you beat him for reconstruction. And he also became god so he is the all around evil basterd

Sovereign from Mass Effect.

Mass Effect is amazing because almost every part of the game has a backstory. The universe is so massive, and everything is explained.

This! However I think that Harbinger is so much more awesome, since he is actually the one that

leads the attack on London

.

Also he is the first Reaper to ever be created, so cool! Posted Image

I'm gonna have to add Count Bleck from Super Paper Mario. He has more depth than pretty much any other mario villain, and he has an interesting backstory. Add that to some pretty funny dialogue, and you've got a pretty great villain.

The Illusive Man in Mass Effect 2. His ambiguity is astounding.

He's got the same gravitas in Mass Effect 3, right up until he became Saren 2.0, which if memory serves me right, he didn't until very late in the game. I loved the idea of another faction with their own agenda!

Issac Clarke in the Dead Space franchise is a great antagonist to Issac Clarke.

I'd also have to include Haythem Kenway in ACIII. Again with the ambiguity!

Liquid Snake (aka Liquid Ocelot) from the Metal Gear Solid Series is a great antagonist. He was a creation who wanted to be free from control of The Patriots and he succeeded but he died before he could enjoy it. The man is very cunning and knew how to take advantage of a situation.

One of my favorite villains is Handsome Jack from the Borderlands series. That guy is just the definition of one horrible person.

Then theres:

Ganon - The many Zelda titles

Graham Ghirahim- Zelda Skyword Sword

Haythem Kenway- Assassins Creed III. (Or really just Templars really. There just so many 'em and hes the one that came to mind)

George Washington - ACIII. (From the DLC. Don't think its out yet. But idc. Its Washington becoming a dictator. Thats awesome haha.)

Manfred Von Karma - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

Matt Engarde - PW:AA Justice For All

Kristoph Gavin - Apollo Justice: Ace Attormey

Andrew Ryan.

Must play Bioshock again, simply for his amazing speeches.

And generic soldier #021 from Call of Duty. His skill with generic machine gun #142 is unparalleled.

I'll just stick to my four favourites for now.

GLaDOS - Portal, Portal 2

The Great Mighty Poo - Conker's Bad Fur Day

"Ze Professor" - Conker's Bad Fur Day

Alma - F.E.A.R.

The reason glados is bolded is because she is my favourite villain in gaming. The list goes in descending order from most favoured to least favoured, but these are all in my top 4.

Kefka. He was both the most unlikely antagonist, but became the most powerful and accomplished villain I've ever seen in a Final Fantasy game, or in most other games I can think of for that matter.

Amelyssan and Sarevok from the Baldur's Gate series filled their roles perfectly but weren't overly compelling. Jon Irenicus, on the other hand, he wasn't just a foil or manipulator, he violated you and everybody you cared for. How could you not want to kill him? But when you learn of his past and what he's now trying to do, it's hard not to feel a little sympathy.

My favorite villain from any video game is Captain Quark from during the first two Ratchet and Clank games. He's hilarious

I also like GLaDOS from Portal. I guess I guess the villains that are most memorable for me are ones that make me laugh.

Bowser(Mario)

Ganondorf(Legend of Zelda)

Dark Samus(Metroid)

Albert Wesker, Osmund Saddler(Resident Evil)

EXTREMELY spoilery villains from various games:

Dagran(The Last Story)

Ashera(Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn)

Dickson, Zanza(Xenoblade Chronicles)

What can I say, I like fighting gods. ;)

Dracula from Castlevania, even though he's the same villain for quite a large part of the series, every encounter is almost entirelly different. Though, sometimes his motives are just weak.

Sin from Final Fantasy 10

Some might say he's not the true Big Bad, he got the most memorable backstory as a villain

Also, this guy

Yellow 13, from Ace Combat 4: Shattered Skies. He was not a villain in a normal sense, he was merely a soldier who fought for his homeland, but holy hell he's a major prick.

Hazama/Terumi from the Blazblue series. Anyone that is willing to give a hero that was never supposed to kill them the power to kill them and then die to kill three gods is pretty amazing. (It's a very weird and confusing plot. I honestly can't explain it.)

Albert Wesker from RE.

Handsome Jack from Borderlands 2. He's tied with Hazama/Terumi for my favorite villain of all time...because I feel that I can relate to him and his way of thinking. Plus he honestly thinks he is the good guy, the quality of character depth they gave him is pretty amazing in my opinion. Also he is funny.

Oh the things he's done:

100 years the past, he was one of the 6 heroes who defeated the black beast. Turns out, that thing was one of his projects gone out of control. After it was destroyed, he betrayed the 6 heroes, killed one and was banished to the edge as a result (which is either the space between the boundary and the real world or on the other side of the boundary). Ha manages to get out of there at some point.

Some time before the beginning of the story, Takamagahara becomes his observer (Takamagahara is a sentient supercomputer while observers keep beings in the world by simply existing) and Hazama visits the chruch Ragna and Jin live in, kill the owner, possess Jin, cuts off Ragna's arm and takes Saya away.

In CT, he manipulates Noel into becoming the Eye of the Azure and forms a life-link with her (the eye is immortal and a life-link has both become immortal unless killed at the same time.)

In CS, things get interesting: Hazama orders Tsubaki to kill Jin (her crush) and Noel (her best friend) for treason so that she would overuse the Izayoi and go blind, be corrupted and work for him. Then, she kidnaps Noel and mind rapes her so that she would lose control of her emotions to the point of breaking her limiters and agree to destroy the world by destroying the master unit. He's also able to use his Blazblue to nullify the one Ragna has (Hazama created those things). When Ragna absorbs the Idea Engine from Lambda after her sacrifice, he's able to beat Hazama but refuses to finish him off. Relius comes in to destroy his body and put him in his ghost form so that he could infiltrate Takamagahara and shut it down. Normally, that would kill him despite the life link but turns out, he made Saya his observer through mind control.

tl; dr: he orchestrated the destruction of the master unit, the source of all time loops (it kept looping time to save humanity I believe) and has plans with the "sword of Hades" and the "Nemesis Horizon" in the final game.

...apparently I am not the only fan of Hazama/Terumi on here. I didn't know that about the other games...only CS. (As it's the only one I own) Was that all from memory?

Yeah, actually. I beat CS2 on the 3DS once already. I also got Calamity Trigger on sight and Extend...

Well for Metal Gear Solid

-

Psycho Mantis

It was the most enjoyable boss fight, I've ever played. And that was only months ago, but it was fun.
