I have to say,I laughed quite a bit at this.Totally did not expect the direction they took with the saying.

 

Anyhow,YOLO is quite literally the stupidest thing this generation has done thus far.The fact that it seems to promote more drug use,crazy partying,and all that jazz moreso than actually living life to its fullest has already shown how stupid our generation is.We took Carpe Diem,made it into an acronym,then proceed to do the stupidest shit imaginable instead because you're aren't living life to its fullest if you're not partying and almost ODing everyday.

 

I just hope the next generation isn't as stupid as ours.

... is not an excuse to act like an idiot. While when the acronym when broken down might be inspirational, many people have taken the meaning behind it and made it an excuse to be stupid. What are your guys's thoughts on this?

YOLO is an okay concept in itself, it's the people who use it that I have a problem with. Teenage kids who use it as an excuse to be retarded. Also it's WAY overused, I can't go anywhere without hearing it, it's just plain annoying.

I wouldn't have made this thread if I thought there was one already. I created it on behalf of the people who are living with it being spread like wildfire which would be fine if the meaning wasn't so corrupted. Besides, stereotypical douches that spread this seem to have more effect on our social media than people otherwise.

Ok seriously, it's a simple fact that we only got this one life (unless you believe in reincarnation or something). What conclusions you draw from that is everypony's own responsibility; I mean, you don't have do do something useful in your life (unless your religion tells you otherwise); regardless of what you do, you will live a certain yet unspecified amount of time and then die, the end (unless your religion etc.).

So what reason is there not to head for something better, not to give your life a meaning? You only have this one chance, so be sure to find something you'd love to put your efforts in and go ahead with it! That's how I see it.

In essence, and in origin, YOLO has a decent message, but people take it to completely different places, and are in fact hurting themselves because of it, so that's the only problem I have.

 

And I like the word swag, it's fun to say, but it got a bad name because it got overused, which is unfortunate.

My friend uses YOLOSWAG to mess around and annoy people. It is really really weird. Sometimes I say it just for fun but when my teachers say it... gosh. I want to just run away.

 

There's nothing personal or anything, but the weirdness of saying YOLO or swag or both in real life is just unexplainable.
