Obsidian_Winter 1,159 December 10, 2012 Share December 10, 2012 I can see the Church of Ponies having all of Celestias stained glass windows mapping out the various history of important events. I mean you basically have a "Sun" goddess, Celestia and a Moon goddess, Luna. They vanquished Chaos, Discord, from the Land and saved it which reminds me of "Let there be light" from the Bible. You have moral teachings and examples of how to live a healthy 'pony' lifestyle...oh yeah people could do this. Would I? No. But I would SO go see their church. My past does not define me 'cause My past is not Today
Goodra 531 December 10, 2012 Share December 10, 2012 Ponies are nice but nothing could replace my lord, Jesus. Plus, if it became a religion, haters would just hate us more and tell us that we are going to.... well.. you know.
Dr.McDoom! 19 December 10, 2012 Share December 10, 2012 No, I would never believe, but it really came true, then I'd desperately want to be a Bishop in it! Just because I practice/teach religion doesn't necessarily mean I believe in it.
YesIAmTori 285 December 10, 2012 Share December 10, 2012 Well, I could see it as a religion but not as ponies. If we like worshipped humanised Celestia and Luna then I could see it sort of working out and then the Mane Six could be minor goddesses named after their Element of Harmony. So yeah, I guess it would be cool. Carolina 212 December 10, 2012 Share December 10, 2012 (edited) I think I will stick with Buddhism, thank you very much. I suppose the sect I follow (SGI/Nicherin Daishonin Buddhism) has some similar messages to MLP as it is overall very positive, tolerant and life-affirming. That said, it's way more practical, since everything about it is rooted in real world issues, not complete fantasy. Chaotic☆Cupcake 24 December 10, 2012 Share December 10, 2012 Reality check: MLP world doesn't exist in this universe. I can see crazy people actually forming a religion from this, but what I can't understand is why would anyone believe in it? No sane person would do it. This is the thing with religions: it's a belief in something they cannot see but they KNOW it exists. That's their belief. All they have is written text and the good actions of their leaders and brethren as their proof that they aren't worshiping something physical or without purpose. MLP has none of that. Maybe, quite possibly, the ponies are real in an alternate universe (which ironically is also based on belief), but why would you worship something that you know is not real? No one can say with 100% certainty that God does/doesn't exist, so that's why there are believers including me that belief in Him/Her (hey, he can be a girl too, right? He IS God.), but can you say the same with Celestia whom you only see on a TV screen? Would praying to her do any good when you know she doesn't exist? And this "religion" would add nothing that what other religions have already taught. Morals are good common sense wisdom, why must we gloat about it and make another religion from it? If hateful people don't believe in the good of mankind that current religions teach, than I can never see them believe in one with imaginary ponies. And that's implying that the religion is formed to begin with. So no, I'm sorry. I can't believe in something that offers nothing I don't already believe in. 1 DON'T PANIC
duidamasterXD 9,627 December 10, 2012 Share December 10, 2012 As opposed to what? A fake religion? And heck no, I'm not abandoning my religion for a TV show. And any hypocrisy that you see in any religion is absolutely present in our fandom, self-righteousness, preachiness, you name it some of us act that way. Moon Rat 4,772 December 10, 2012 Share December 10, 2012 Honestly, this would be taking the show and fandom a bit too far, so I am going to have to say no to this one It's only a television show that happened to get popular and gain an enormous fanbase in quite a short amount of time Adding religion would just be over doing it 1 Thank you Nas for the sig :3 #HugWoona
Milk Wave 454 December 10, 2012 Share December 10, 2012 (edited) Would you abandon your faiths and join the new religion? do you think that it will be better for society compared to the older religions? I don't see why it can't be if Scientology manage to be recognized as a religion and it should be pretty interesting to see haters get charged for hate crimes. If bronydom were a religion, I would kindly show myself to the door and leave mlp forever. Reason being is that I dont exactly understand having a religion for ponies, like how my friend accepts Haruhiism as a religion when it is clearly only for an ANIME. EDIT: I wouldnt exactly think it will be better for society because mlp haters would gear up themselves with guns and shoot whoever's in the bronydom religion. THUS it would turn crime rates up and may even cause a civil/religious war. Who knows? Im just guessing when I got to the crime rates. ANOTHER EDIT: If we made a bronydom religion with Princess Celestia being our god, who would believe us? Of course, almost no adult will (except crazy men), because they know what separates fantasy from reality. Marshmallow 1,137 December 10, 2012 Share December 10, 2012 No. It's already much too cult-like for my taste as it is with everyone trying to "convert" other people to liking the show and preaching about how you should watch the show because it will make you a better person. Those are bad aspects of the fandom in my opinion and it being an actual religion would probably accentuate these aspects even more. Honestly, yes the how does have nice morals and everything, but it isn't extremely deep either. There are many works that are much more appropriate if you want to use their "teachings" as a philosophy or as guidelines to make a better world. Face it, it's a kid's show. It's cute and everything, but not very profound. The guys writing the show are just normal writers, not philosophers. 3 "There was me, that is Pinkie, and my three droogs, that is Rarity, Rainbow, and Fluttershy, and we sat in the Ponyville Milkbar trying to make up our rassoodocks what to do with the evening." Shift 4,272 December 10, 2012 Share December 10, 2012 Nah, because then i'd be weird and pray to celestia and THAT'S NOT WHAT I BELEIVE IN. Personally religion isn't my favorite thing to talk about anyway... Have the courage to think and act on your own. And have the courage to disobey. Starswirl the Trixie 975 December 10, 2012 Share December 10, 2012 (edited) Other. I'm already a member of the Brony religion, specifically the "Trixie Fanboy" sect. Seriously though, as an Agnostic-Atheist I have no real faith to give up, so I usually say that my "religion" is either the Cult of Lord Smooze (See Friendship is Witchcraft) or Discordianism, which I follow mostly out of respect for Discord in the show. "Bronyism" is really a parody religion. What beliefs could it really hold? We don't actually love and tolerate in this community anyways... Religion cannot truly exist if their followers follow the true teachings anyway since most of the teachings goes against human nature so tax exemption and expansion by appearing as benevolent saviors of the human race with propaganda and charity. It would just be cool to be a part of a secular religion but the power structure and activities of a god fearing religion. Dashicorn 74 December 10, 2012 Share December 10, 2012 No just no, not a religion but the ways of the brony should be a way of life ( love and tolerance, harmony, etc.. ) but not a religion. But people should however love and tolerate as we do. “No one is more qualified than you are to decide how you live; no one should be able to vote on what you do with your time and your potential unless you invite them to. ”
Pinkazoid 3,493 December 10, 2012 Share December 10, 2012 Don't see any problem there, even a novel writer could turn his works into a religion so any significant amount of brony could probably get a legally recognized religion.Religions don't have to believe in a god or some supernatural elements. We'd get more hate. We get hate for liking a show. The problem is bronies are becoming the "OMG GUISE OUR FANBASE NEEDS MORE ATTENTION." Why would we do that? And, guys stop it with the Mormon jokes. The guy who donated 630 dollars to the forums is Mormon. :
EnderBrony 26 December 12, 2012 Share December 12, 2012 I'm honestly fine with any religion as long as it has a positive overall message. So I guess I would be part of the "brony" religion if it were a real religion.

Just some guy 1,070 December 12, 2012 Share December 12, 2012 (edited) Bronyism as a religion?You're...you're joking, right? We'd have to pray to Celestia and Luna everyday and night, and possibly the Elements of Harmony and their bearers as well. Also,do you honestly think people would believe that flying unicorns raise both the sun and the moon when science has already disproven that theory?I'd only want bronyism to exist as a religion just to see how many people would actually follow it. However,if bronyism was more like a philosophy like Buddhism and Confucianism?Yeah,I can definitely see people getting behind that, especially with the motto "love and tolerance" we got going for us.Add in being a generally positive and bright fandom,I can easily see more people embracing bronyism as a philosophy and way of life rather than a religion. decoherence 183 December 13, 2012 Share December 13, 2012 (edited) I think the message of MLP is very similar to the message of Christ. I also think that, like the message of Christ, the message of MLP doesn't need an institution behind it and having such an institution would likely corrupt the message. But I was raised by a lapsed catholic and and lapsed anglican, so while I have faith that strong morals and positive values are one of the most important things in life, I don't think much of most of the institutions that claim to espouse this belief (because they so obviously don't.) That said, if it did become a religion, I'd totally join (edit: as long as I get to keep my Discordian card. Oops, time to pray to beloved Eris! We Discordians have to follow a very strict schedule uh huhuhuh) Edited December 13, 2012 by decoherence
