Time Travel

You have Time Traveler's Immunity (essentially stating that a time traveler's actions are preserved in the past and that they are immune to the changes they make in the past, and the Grandfather Paradox does not exist); where would you travel--and what would you do?

George Lucas's house.  Right after he had finished school.  I would get his autograph right then and there, and then I would head off into perhaps the year that Star Wars originally came out, and I would have both George Lucas's autograph and the ticket stubs to the Orignal star wars movie.

While I could say stop all those terrible things that happened back in the day, paradoxes. I might be immune to it but not everyone is.

So probably just look around.

Iv never been a fan of this form of time travel I prefer it when time travelers have the ability to change things and are not immune to the changes they make. But I would go back in time and randomly assassinate people throughout history just because I really cant think of anything better to do with a time machine if you cant use it to change things.

I would travel back and forth. I would travel back into the past, buy furniture for cheap and sell it in the present as antiques. In fact I would use the profits to open my own antique store.

If I could not change my personal timeline then I would freely sell future tech to the past just to see what path the new timelines would take.

Isn't there a way to get around some of the paradoxes involved with time travel without being immune? I'm pretty sure I could think of a few... For examlpe, I want to completely undo an error I just made in life, or something, I go back in time and tell me not to make that mistake. Now; tell him not to make the mistake, he doesn't make it HOWEVER he doesn't go back in time to tell his past self since he feels no need. Instead, tell him to no make the mistake and tell him that once the mistake has been avoided he must come back to this point in time to tell himself the same words.

Only downside of that is it could end up like Chinese Whispers with the many amount of times past mes go back in time... ._. Be right back, getting an ice pack for my head. :S

Any where? Any time? Renaissance Italy. I would bring the most commercially accessible tablets and a physics text book to mess with the church and leave Leonardo completely flabbergasted.

I'd travel back in time to where Apple, Microsoft, and McDonalds were brand-new companies, get a 100,000 dollar loan for "A sports restaurant," invest it all in those 3 companies, and retire early at age 19.

I would also steal a royal throne on my way out.

I don't really know. i'm thinking just taking a historian and asking him where to go. Clear up some inaccuracies. Maybe I'd come to me the moment I click "post" and tell myself, "Welp. Time travel's a thing now."

This one is a tad less creepy. Wouldn't you agree?

Other places I would go.

Hawaii before the Polynesians discovered it. an entire tropical paradise and I wouldn't have to share it.

Dinosaurs. Gotta do it. and you guys would not believe the photos I took, or this baby I brought back!

Pyramids. A lot of gold was buried in there. and every tomb was robbed. Who's to say I didn't do it?

Ancient Rome. Lots to see. Lots to buy with my pyramid gold.

Early America. It would be fun to watch and see how my country all started.

Dude, you have no idea how much I've thought about this on my spare time (no pun intended).

There are so many places I would've gone to, first off I'd go back to 1907 and I would've stopped WW1 from happening, I'd introduce the sceintific discoveries of today, and I would've made everyone's lives better basically. Second I'd go to ancient Greece, because it was a cool place to be in, and thirdly, I would go back to all the good days I had in my life so far (two I can name are 3 days ago, when I saw Wreck-It Ralph for the first time, and a day 2 weeks ago when I went on a field trip).

And lastly, I'd go back to all the times I screwed stuff up as my past self, and prevent those screw ups.

Also I'd probably make myself rich somehow, maybe.

If I could go back in time and it wouldnt alter anything...

Id immediately goto the Revolutionary war in the battle of Yorktown with full body armor and dual mac-11's.

Included with all that, id be firing out of a dodge charger with George Washington in the passenger's seat.

No--there is no way to avoid paradoxes especially like that. For example--you go back in time tell yourself not to make a mistake, the fact that you see yourself is a problem, you can cause multiple issues; telling yourself not to do it can still not work--where your past self will still cause the problem. Look at the episode where Twilight Sparkle goes back in time and tries to tell herself not to do it. She made two mistakes;

A. Told herself that it's her

B. Told her not to do something

If you don't want the event to happen you would have to physically stop it from happening to your former self. IE: You see Former Self about to jump over a hole and fall in, you dive and push him out of the way--then run off. Ultimately saving him from (insert pain, or whatever trauma) x. Being immune to it is simply that:

If you go back in time, kill your mother, or father before they conceive you--you will still exist. It's not the Butterfly Effect. Grandfather Paradox simply states if you go back in time and kill your parents before you are born do you cease to exist? Time Travellers immunity suggests that since you broke the rift of time--you are immune from it.

@Brook Watch out for Ancient Greece--lots of issues there just on the streets. Don't wanna die in the past.

@Sun Wave That would be badass.

Me? I still don't know what I would do, create the internet and be hailed as InternetSuperKamiGuru. I Guess. Or be the voice of Goku, if I could find a way to do that.

I'd travel to the times of Ancient Greece to see what it was like when the Romans were at war with the Persians. I've always wanted to know what Ancient warfare was like.

I'd take a dump in the primordial ooze and see what new life shows up in our time.

I'd go back to Moses time and steal the Ten Commandments and replace it with the Ten Commandments on an Ereader (They won't complain it's all glowy now. Cooleth!)

Shave off Hitlers mostouche so the toothbrush comb stache doesn't lose it's fashionability post-WWII

Replace Lee Harvey Oswald's rifle with a rubber chicken. Oh what shenanigans!

Introduce Yoko Ono to the Beetles sooner.

Arrange the Patridge Family and Manson Family to meet.

If I could, I would travel back to the sinking of the Titanic.  On an iceberg far, far away, but can still see it happening.  That would be awesome.  Or, I would go to Egypt, take some things belonging to a pharaoh, bring it back to the time I began in and sell it to scientist for thousands or millions for an artifact still in-tact.

So I can't change the past? =( That would be my primary objective, to return my life to normal...

If not then I would go to ancient civilizations and see what the structures they built looked like before they were destroyed, either by war or time.

Would I be safe while doing this, though? It's a serious question one has to ask.

@Envy you can change the past if you want. But you wouldn't have to worry about effecting your living. IE, if you kill your greatgreatgreatgreat grandma accidentally, you still are alive. That's the only thing. Time Traveller's immunity.

I would travel back to the year 1990, and live to this very moment right now. I've always wanted to experience the 1990's, because I was just born in '98.

Also, this sounds familiar. Do we already have a thread on this?

I would just travel forward in time, occasionally going back to invest in companies that I know will succeed to fund my travels. I would jump forward a decade every year or so...

Obviously I would skip over any global conflicts, nuclear holocausts, and the like.

If everyone did actually die I would have to stop and go back. Depending on the situation I might need to find a way to prevent it.

The most important thing is that I want to see what happens to the human race.

And to all things comes an end. We are no more than pages in a book.

Turn the page, and thousands die. And for what? For the greed of two powerful leaders.
Turn the page and floods, earthquakes and volcanoes are destroying the world.

It is a time for acts of despair and of bravery as well.

Another turn of the page and countless refugees flee. Is this the end of the story? No.

There are countless pages to turn. And to all things comes a beginning!
