Anger Management

Iv'e had pretty severe anger management issues for a large portion of my life and thought it was rather rare, but another ponies post made me wonder; how many other ponies here have anger management issues?

Of course, if you would rather keep these things to yourselves I completely understand :)

Use to have big anger issues, not that long ago. People p****d me off so much, it was hard not for me to get into fights.

But now ive got ponies! Whenever your feeling angry, look at a picture of Derppy on your phone, works like a charm

I've had anger issues basically my entire life. I've gotten a lot better over the past few years, though, and it generally only flares up when my computer fails, or when I have massive arguments (the former is more frequent than the latter, thankfully).

I've never been diagnosed with any, but I think there may be minor issues, such as when people go out of their way to aggravate me.

I used to have anger management problems when I was a kid, even the simplest thing would set me off. Now if I get angry, a lot of times I'll remain calm, or I'll get creative, and instead of yelling and screaming, I'll just be subtle about it. Sometimes I do burst though, thanks to all the crap that goes on in my life and I just tend to bottle it up.

I'm not diagnosed with any anger problems... but instead a "mood disorder" where my mind has mood swings. One of which is anger. I used to be a lot easier to irritate... now that I'm older and have had some therapy (although not for anger specifically, for depression), I'm better at it.

But I'm still... rather hot-blooded when it comes to certain topics. Many of them seem trivial, and they get on my nerves in ways that other people would find silly and irrational. A lot of it involves things on the internet. Oh and negativity and overdrama are two of my most major pet peeves. They will drive me to this fierce rage. It is very intense, but it only gets to extremely intense levels once my patience (which is, by the way, really huge. It has to build up over time) has been depleted. If you set me off when I'm out of patience... lord help you. That's why I try to avoid talking about things that make me too angry and keep my opinions about a lot of things shut. Or just sitting alone when I'm angry so I don't lash out at people.

I try my best to control that side of me, which isn't me at all. It's just like this monster that lives inside of me. I know I'm rational. It's just the mood gets the better of me sometimes.

It takes a lot to break me, it takes a lot to excite me, and it takes a lot to ignite me. For the sake of simplicity (And that I can't type effectively on a Dvorak Keybboard), I would simply change one of the many mental channels running continuously in my head.

Though there WAS one period of heightened anger back in High School back in 2010,... Being an introverted person has its pros and cons. You hide your anger out of fear of unwillingly unleashing it on someone, but it builds up and becomes harder to control, and being already shy, you find it unreliable to talk to others. What made things worse is that I was already in a state of extreme worry.

And because I suck at Dvoraks,... Dying friend plus annoyingly taunting people equals suckishly stressful Junior year.

I simply didn't want any more stress onn top of what I already had.

I'm normally a very, very calm, normal person. It takes a LOT to annoy me. Basically, nothing short of tossing my backpack into a fire or taking a hammer to my laptop will make me mad. I just love and tolerate any action up until that point with an "it's ok, it doesn't matter".

But whoo-boy, once you get me REALLY MAD, you've made an enemy for life. I WILL do my absolute best to make life miserable for you, and hopefully send you to the hospital.

Thankfully, no one has ever provoked me even halfway to that point.

I have problems showing emotions but when I do get angry I turn very red, start shaking, and am almost uncontrollable. I've been informed that's because I need to express my emotions every day.

I had anger problems as a kid (to the point that i was actually signed up for an anger management program as my school!), but I've sorta calmed down over the years.

Nowadays it takes ALOT to completely piss me off, but if you do manage to push me past my limit...oh boy. There's a reason I have a Red Lantern ring on my shelf afterall.

It's ignorant peers that aggravate me, but it takes quite a lot to have any real effect.

A very effective method for countering the addictive nature of rage, I learned from Dr. Tim Keller, a philosopher from New York City.

By no means is anger a bad thing, as long as it pertains to a justified situation. It's perfectly acceptable for me to be enraged for the sake of defence if I found out my sister's boyfriend hit her or something.

But when something trivial happens and I get angry, I ask myself: "What am I defending?"

If someone cuts me off in traffic and I start to boil, What am I defending? The honor and solemn code of the road? Safety of humans everywhere because of that jerk? No, I'm wanting to fight for being on time for work. A trivial, sillious matter. Not worth getting angry over, so I cool down.

When people make me uncontrollably angry, I just tell myself "you control yourself, do not let others control you". Sometimes it helps. I agree with Blue that anger is an emotion and there is nothing wrong with it. It's just when you loose control of yourself and who you are that it becomes a problem.
