It's a good episode. I was very glad to see Babs Seed again (and that she's not a 1-episode character)

But as already said, the story is predictable.

@8:10-8:20 (Around when the blimp lands), Granny Smith says "This is more exciting than when it rained frogs!".

I died. Probably my favorite line of the entire show.

Not my favorite episode, but not bad.  I was just happy to see an AJ spotlight.  Sometimes I don't think she gets quite as much screentime as she should.

But did I seriously hear Applebloom make a Wilhelm Scream?  She didn't bump into anypony else, either.  It was definitely just her.  Applebloom makes a Wilhelm Scream.  You've gotta be f*cking kidding me.  Omg.

Also, we have example #60 of how every single problem in this show could be instantly solved if Twi used magic.  The whole barn raising project - AJ could have just knocked on Twi's door and asked her to cast the same spell she used to fix the dam in Mare Do Well.  Bam.  Problem solved.  But then the Apple family would have just stood and stared and twiddled their hooves for the last ten minutes of the episode.  I just think it's funny is all.

If Twilight had repaired the barn with her magic, the reunion would have been a failure. They repaired the barn with their hooves also because they wanted to do something in family, not only to repair the barn.

Earlier tonight I got the random urge to try this episode out again, and you'd be amazed how much not having little cousins running around in front of the screen and talking over the show improves the experience -_-. I know I was.

I found myself just sitting back and taking in how well put-together this episode was as it went along, for starters. The problem in this episode was perfectly suited to Applejack, and I'm sure it spoke to the perfectionist in a lot of us. It also reminded me a lot of some of my own family gatherings and how they've been run (though thankfully no barns have been destroyed yet :D). And what harm is there in making the biggest, bestest most memorable reuinion ever right?

Seeing Babs back was pretty nice. While her debut episode wasn't the most memorable for me, here she was great in helping Apple Bloom be a part of the conflict and in anything AJ's constant butting in made me pretty interested in finding out how her life's going, myself . A great way to get me involved in how Applejack's approach was sucking the spirit out of things.

Just thought it was great how even though AJ was making a massive mess of everything, you're never able to hold it against her because you know that she's doing everything out of pure and honest reasons. Just taking her approach a bit far, in common Applejack fashion. That moment when she realizes that everything's fallen apart and nobody's happy just tears at you, and it's truly one of the saddest things I can think of throughout MLP. I've been there too more than I'd have liked, and everything about that scene captured the awful feeling of realizing that your efforts to make everything perfect were worse than useless. Though showing some wisdom she's picked up throughout the show, AJ quickly realized that there was no sense in beating the shit out of herself when there was still a chance to make things right.  Raise this Barn may not be my favorite song in the show on its own, but the montage accompanying it vaults it right up there with the best. After all, this is a family that knows how to have fun supporting one another and making the best out of crappy situations. Just part of being a farmer, I can only imagine. It's why I came out of this episode with an incredible amount of respect for the Apple family as a whole.

This is all Applejack, folks

Add in a mountain of adorable, dweeby, excited, sad, and funny moments from our leading pony and I can't call this anything other than the best Applejack episode this show's ever cranked out, as well as maybe the best episode of Season 3. Not sure how much of it is the lack of screaming cousins, my having grown up a bit, my increased appreciation for AJ, or what it is, but this thing spoke to me and was genuinely enjoyable for the entire time. AJ's place as second best pony is more than safe :)

More seriously, I feel like this episode is a good basis for why I felt that she was in character in that one. Applejack can get pretty overbearing when it comes to her family.

Come to think, Apple Bloom's been complaining about it since (I think  ?) her second scene in the show. Most of us probably didn't pay it a whole lot of mind at the time since Apple Bloom was quickly established as the sort of kid who just might get herself killed if you took your eye off her for very long, and because one of her main personality traits is wanting to be more grown up, but it's definitely shown in that episode. Just doesn't stick out as something that might be a broader, more serious problem. At least I hadn't noticed before. In light of Apple Family Reunion and Bridle Gossip, it seems like the struggle between Apple Bloom's need to be independent and experimental and adult and Applejack's need to be super motherly and protective is actually one of the defining aspects of their relationship. They just never really addressed it directly until fairly recently. That's actually really cool, and makes me realize I've been undervaluing how interesting the AJ/AB sisterhood is.

Thanks for pointing that out. Apple Family Reunion really does set a pretty big precedent for AJ hounding her family all over the place and never giving them a moment's peace.

I loved the symbolism in this episode. Didn't the two shooting stars refer to Applejack's dead parents?

Yeah, it has been confirmed by a tweet from someone in the staff.

Really, this episode didn't have much to offer at all. All it seemed to do is attempt to give a character more screen time, I guess since Applejack hasn't had enough appearances this season? It ended up just being kinda... bland. There was nothing that was annoying, disgusting, or offensive or anything like that, all I can say is that it was lacking and just plain slow. It's a candidate for the most okay episode of the series.

Baba seed, you've earned my respect after making up for how you treated your cousin at the first place.

All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.

I liked seeing Babs again and despite the generic square dancing tune I really enjoyed the song Raise This Barn. And of course, I liked how AJ takes her good intentions too far. Not the first time she did that either.

I got confused with the dates.

Granny Smith said 'Can't believe it's been nearly 100 moons since our last reunion"

But in one of the pictures, it shows baby AJ.

What's going on?

Baby AJ wasn't from the previous reunion.

I liked this episode because I can somewhat relate to Applejack because I have a large extended family and it's so much fun to see all my cousins but unlike the episode my family just talks then eats and leaves, we're not a very active crowd.
