how can Rarity loose to PinkyPie??

 

Both are quite lovable complex characters.  Both have their times of poor portrayals and their times of awesome episodes. 

If Season 5 has as good Rarity episodes as #4 and Pinkie doesn't have at least as good as #4 I think Rarity will surpass Pinkie.

 

(though not for me personally).

It's because Rarity is a character which deals with the most mature issues of all the mane six, I believe.

 

Let's face it, the show has created an aura of idealism and idyll, and most of the mane 6 do not have to tackle as serious matters as Rarity does. The main conflict with her is the fact that she has to reconcile her career with having time for her friends. Now, because of the show's setup, it's automatically expected of her to instantly pick her friends over ANYTHING. But MLP shares much more realistic approach to her character, depicting her as a person pony who tries to achieve both things. Because of that, she often has to pick controversial decisions, which make her much less popular between the fandom. That's because she's expected (as per show's setup) to instantly pick her friends over anything else, just like her friends would do for her. Unfortunately, Rarity has to face much more demanding situations than the rest of mane 6, from what I've seen. She's the only one heavily pressurized by schedules, expectations and customer demands, while at once being motivated by her willingness to achieve her targets with best possible results. It simply creates a lot of stress on her.

 

The conflicts Rarity has to face are much more common and widespread in our world. Considering that people who watch MLP keep in mind that it's a fantasy show, which is not supposed to be that realistic, it really stands out.

 

Pinkie's a great character, for all the different reasons though. Nearly all of her personality is geared towards her friends, and that's something people get along with easily. Because we all appreciate our friends the same way she does, we all enjoy laughter. And even though she's babbling like a crazy, it's a part of her character that makes her "Pinkie". There's not much she has to resign from in order to spend time with her friends, whatever she dismisses, she can get to it after she's done.

Rarity doesn't have such chance. Most of her decisions concerning the upper crust and career must be done instantly and hold greater consequences. That's typical in our lives as well, after all. So, the decisions she makes are much more controversial and not everyone agree with them.

 

Although they're both great characters, and I adore watching them for entirely different reasons, it's that complexity connected to real life references and examples which makes me love Rarity the most out of them all

Just gonna drop by for a bit I do plan on extending my break further than what I've already done, but I think I needed to say hello to all of my friends here I was talking about the fan club with one of my friends off-site and I really started to miss this place

I'll probably go back to relative inactivity before the night's over with, but I needed to check in with you guys and worship my waifu for a bit

Asterian needs to come here too, he was on fire during the MLPF cup, but I haven't seen him here since. Obsidian's also making his appearances rarer. AV too.... I just wanted to contribute since, with Rarity now out (sorry about that by the way, I voted for her whenever I could ) & the finals coming up, I will be free to move about more freely on the fan clubs I take part in. The Chrysalis fan club needs some boosting, I want to join my 2nd favorite ponies club (Twilight), & this is one I was about to join & then got wrapped up in the finals & everything, & with the whole scandal & everything it only just further made it really, really awkward to possibly be in, & I didn't want to cause any issues...  Hopefully now though with everything calmed down I will be able to move about without fear of causing issues...
