It's not like i was instantly smitten with her after i saw one picture. Though it certainly sparked my interest in the show.

 

It was ultimately her character that that made me fall in love with her, though if not for her flawless design i would probably never have checked out FiM.

Now i feel the need to defend myself here.

Like I said earlier ... Not at all. For me personally, (and I know that a some of you grimace every time I say this) it was a brief and incomplete assessment of her character that turned me off to begin with. The fact that I stereotyped Rarity as your typical fasion type girls show insert was VERY shallow.

 

Visually Rarity is has a simple yet complimentary scheme. This helps to put focus on how she is posed and animated which is very unique. Her fan art even shows her as confident but not arrogant.

 

If you found her visually appealing from go, it's a credit to the character, not the other way around.

First episode I've ever seen was "Boast Busters", and the moment I saw Rarity I was like "OMG she's so fabulous!" (of course I did NOT use these exact words, but you get my point ).

Do you guys remember the little video from the World Cup? The little quote from me in there was in fact part of a larger text i wrote for it. I think i will just dump it in here.

 

It's very similar to my about me page, but if i already made it, why not post it?

The reason i have always been very close to Rarity is that she made me a brony in the first place. She sparked my interest in the show.

In late season one i had heard of course of the pony-craze that was sweeping through the Internet, i did not have much interest in it, but one could hardly ignore it seeing that it was popping up everywhere.

One day, i don't remember where is was, i saw a picture of her though. It may look a little bit shallow, but i instantly knew that there was something to her that was worth discovering.

 

I instantly loved her design, the purple combined with the white of her coat, the little blue highlights, the way her mane and tail were styled, her elegance. Everything about her looks.

 

I needed to know more!

 

My next step was to find a mlp wiki and to search for her. Even though i did not know her name yet, i found her pretty easily and i started to explore her character.

I started to like her even more and decided to start watching the show on youtube, which i did from Episode one on.

 

So the fabulous one made me what i am now. I could somehow connect to her even though im not really into fashion and not feminine at all.

The longer i was a brony, the more i loved her and the show, and i doubt either of that will stop in the future.

 

Rarity is my little princess now. She is close to my heart. She has so much i find admirable and beautiful.

 

I love her passionate and artistic nature. She is a true artist and she wants to make the world around her more beautiful. She goes to great lengths to do so. Instead of hoarding her beauty she gives it freely to others. She wants to be beautiful herself of course, but she never would selfishly deprive others of beauty.

Her first reaction to the dishevelled Twilight in the very first episode was not to mock her, like other pretty girl characters in other shows would have done, but to instantly help her with her mane.

 

It is this generosity with her gifts and skills that is one of her biggest virtues and something that everybody should strife towards.

Her greatest gifts to her friends are not of materialistic nature, even though she also gives freely in that respect, but gifts of her time and her career chances.

In fact, every day Rares lives in Ponyville she makes a sacrifice. After she made it into the inner circle of Canterlot and into the fashion world of Manehatten she had all the possibilities she ever wanted.

She has now the reputation, the connections and the money to move to one of these important cities, but she chooses not to. She chooses to stay in Ponyville, and she chooses to take the hard, slow road to her goals to not leave her friends behind.

 

It would be so easy for her to move away to the beating heart of high society, to fulfill every single one of her dreams. Yet she does not do it.

That is her biggest sacrifice, her biggest generosity. She deserves utmost respect for that desicion.

 

It is this willingness to put her own dreams behind that makes her for me the true Element of Generosity.

 

She has her flaws. Who doesn't? But for me at least her good sides overwhelmingly outnumber her flaws.

 

She is a beautiful, generous, friendly, faithful, kind, empathic soul. I greatly adore her.

1. Nicely stated about Rares. It's funny because I tend to be jealous of you (and the other Season 1 early adopters) since I walked away and missed so much in this fandom and show ... yet you have been there since go basically.

2. Fab ... Fab ... FAB. If you ever wanted to stretch your talents ... you could try making that one an animated .gif to add a little sparkle effect. I know you can do that in GIMP ... just not sure how exactly.

To be *completely* honest, me nor Asterian is legally binded to Rares, like, say, Jin is. I honestly probably would, but all Kel is able to perform is rehearsals, which still require some form of thingy mabobber that he has. He's ordained, but he can't like, make it a legality, if that makes since. So, no one is actually married to her   

 

I love her so much, though, I wish I could marry her...she probably wouldn't choose me in real life, though. I'll just keep holding on, I guess   

 Unless you count astrophysically. I'm pretty sure that the world between worlds is in itself a plane but on the other hand that doesn't mean that either of the involved persons will physically know eachother upon entering the others plane. That's also not counting customs, regulations, and laws. Legally in our plane non of us loverboys with rare cracked skulls are married to rare in any form except mentally. Outside of our plane.... well depends on the factors of the plane in question. 

 

@obsidian   I may have only viewed s1 online but I can totally relate with rares. Seeing her for the first time one instantly can be caught off guard. One minute "okay this show ain't so bad" the next you're reaching back to check the damage to the back of your head think " I MUST KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT THAT IMPOSSIBLE VISION OF BEAUTY!".   btw nice plot lol.

I've read on a wiki that ラリティ is pretty popular over there, but i don't know if it is true. i tried to find something with google, but to no avail...

If it turns out to be true i guess the Japanese have pretty good taste.

It does make sense. From an anime perspective Rarity and Fluttershy fit some of the visual beats better than the others do, and a Japanese animation fans do like their female characters elegant.

 

I couldn't dig anything up either.
