Which Ponies Have The Most In Common?

Shanks

Recommended Posts

I thought up a random topic a couple days ago and it is this, all the Mane 6 have at least one thing in common with each other some more than others. I think this is especially the case with Applejack and Rainbow Dash they are both athletic and can sometimes be highly competitive and slightly stubborn. They are also fairly tomboyish and are not afraid to get their hooves dirty. And Both of them have been shown to have tempers though I think Rainbow Dash's is somewhat worse. So Which ponies do you think have the most in common with each other?

Applejack and Rainbow Dash, for the reasons you mention.  Plus they share a voice actor.

You could say that Fluttershy and Rarity are similar in that they're girly and like fashion, but while fashion is Rarity's biggest interest, Fluttershy isn't really defined by that.  Whereas AJ and RD are both equally known for their athletic ability and competitive nature.

Applejack and Rainbow Dash, if you count the same voice actor and the athletic abilities in all of Equestria. Twilight and Rarity if you count, their similarities in species as in Unicorns with horns. Pinkie Pie and Applejack because, they are both Earth Ponies and maybe Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie because, of their kind nature to people.

Rarity & Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash & Applejack, and Pinkie Pie & Ranbow Dash, I mean, they kinda had entire episodes revolving around the interests of the two characters above(Green Isn't Your Color: Fluttershy and Rarity's love for the spa and fashion, Fall Weather Friends: Rainbow and Applejack's love for competition, and Griffin the Brush Off: Pinkie Pie and Rainbow's love for fun and jokes; respectively)

Applejack and Twilight act the same way a LOT of the time and have similar fears and problems in their episodes. They also tend to be the most mature of the Mane 6 and have a sarcastic sense of humor.

Yeah that is true they both can often over think things and miss the big picture albeit for different reasons. Twilight is much more introverted though she is gradually becoming more social throughout the series.

Applejack and Rainbow Dash, for the reasons above.

I've also noticed that Rarity can be really OCD, like Twilight.  They both tend to overreact and be drama queens a little bit sometimes.

Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash for these reasons:

  • Both love playing pranks
  • Both are very, VERY energetic
  • Both are the two most adorable ;)
  • Both spend more time laughing than all the others
  • Both are athletic (Pinkie ice skates, that's athletic)
  • Both have a knack of being unknowing of others' emotions
  • Both have a seemingly bigger friendship bond with each other than any other two Mane 6's do - especially in S1E05, S3E03 and S3E07
  • Both have champion speeds - Pinkie keeps up with Rainbow in S1E25
  • Pinkiedash is best ship :P

Rainbow Dash and Applejack is the first that comes to mind, they're both athletic, and both competitive.

Rainbow Dash and Pinkie also have some pretty good things in common, such as both enjoying pranks and stuff.

Fluttershy and Rarity are like BFF's and both like fashion, but they do have their share of differences two.

The others I don't find are all that relatable to one another. Sure they all have some small things in common, but they all have pretty different personalities overall for the most part.

Twilight Sparkle/Applejack

Rarity/Fluttershy

Pinkie Pie/Rainbow Dash

Twilight and Applejack both share a strong work ethic and sense of responisbility. Rarity and Fluttershy share a love for the spa/makeovers and are both knowledgable on fashion. Rainbow Dash and Pinkie live relatively carefree lifestyles and enjoy pranks.

It would seem that the synergy between ponies is intentional, as each pony also has an opposite in the group as well:

Rarity/Applejack

Rainbow Dash/Twilight Sparkle

Pinkie Pie/Fluttershy

Rarity and Applejack often butt heads over form vs. function, Rarity often "fusses" over every detail, while Applejack has a tendency to neglect small details. Rainbow Dash is very athletic and dislikes reading (until Read it and Weep) and other "egghead" things, while Twilight enjoys reading greatly, and is the least athletic of the Mane 6. Finally, Pinkie Pie is very socialable; being friends with everypony in Ponyville, while Fluttershy is extremely timid, and has little to no friends outside of the Mane 6.

Funnily enough, no two ponies of the same species are complementary or opposites.

I can only think of one right now. I think Applejack and Pinkie Pie. They're both Earth Ponies, they're both outgoing, and they're both kind to other ponies.

Before I start, I have a confession to make. I typed out the contents of this post at work today. Because somebody might have read the screen over my shoulder, I gave our favorite girls pseudonyms. Hence, they shall be known as:  Tara (fittingly), Ashleigh (fittingly again), Felecia, Polly, Ray, and Randi. I could have changed the names back when I got home, but I decided to leave things as is for the lolz!

This is a wonderful thread. Thanks to EarthbendingProdigy for starting it. So far you’ve been able to identify traits that connect two, three, or more people. But I’m a little sad to see nobody has brought up the special quality every one of them possesses.  This is so obvious, so under your nose, it is easy to overlook. It is the very thing that binds them together and enables them to utilize the Elements of Harmony.

The major attribute that all six of them have is a tremendous amount of heart.

Heart in this context is synonymous with courage. Tara, Ray, Ashleigh, and Randi have all shown clear, obvious bravery in the face of danger. But Polly and Felicia may need a little explanation. Due to her general wackiness, Polly is hard to read in this department. She doesn’t seem to take anything seriously, even someone who may be trying to kill her. I'm sure Polly is gutsy, but I will leave it up to her fans to elaborate.  In the meantime, I will take on Felicia because she’s my specialty.  :)

Felicia has issues and that’s why she rubs some fans the wrong way. Anyway, a common misconception is that Felicia is a very fearful person. But in another recent post, I offered irrefutable evidence that this is not truly the case. We just have to do a little digging to see it.

When the rubber meets the road, Fluttershy is as brave as anypony else. This is the first of her two great ironies. Due to her anxieties and phobias, she can be impeded and, on occasion, paralyzed by fear of a looming threat. But sometimes it falls on Fluttershy to act because her friends cannot.  In that case, she acts bravely and decisively. The most striking example of this is seen in Dragonshy. And when Rainbow Dash needed her help in Hurricane Fluttershy, she courageously refused to submit to her inner demons.

Some may still object saying, “Well, what about the big battle in Camden?  She did nothing besides trying to save her own spineless hide.”  Well?  Well indeed! What did you want her to do?  Unlike her friends, Felicia doesn’t have the firepower, the strength, or the skills to fight well-trained enemy soldiers. That is a tactical deficiency, not a courage deficiency. An ill-advised attack on her part would have led to her capture, injury, or death.  Therefore, being defensive was the smart thing for her to do. As I mentioned above, due to her neurosis, frightening situations often cause her to slow down or lock up like a fainting goat.  She could have curled up into a fetal position. But since she knew the future of Exeter depended on her survival, she successfully resisted that tendency.  In spite of total pandemonium, Felicia was able to stay calm, focused, mobile, and elusive. She avoided serious injury and didn’t become too reliant on others for protection.  That, my friends, is being cool under fire.  Fluttershy still has her hang ups, but being a big chicken isn't one of them.

In conclusion, the Mane 6 is greater as a whole than the sum of their parts because of their enormous common resolve. Without powerful hearts, their friendship wouldn’t be strong enough to operate the Elements of Harmony in the first place.  Equestria will forever be indebted to their valor.

EDIT:  *Crickets chirping*  Hello, is anybody out there?  Sigh...if this habit of threads dropping dead whenever I post something longer than 1,000 characters doesn't stop soon, I'm going to develop a complex.  <_<

I have to agree I think they're most compatible with one another. They have both freak outs on working really hard and both can actually calm the other down. On Applejack's new episode she also had a similar breakout on over planning the Apple Reunion the same way Twilight would with preparations for Celestia's visit.
