movies/tv What the BUCK is Nickelodeon doing?

Ok, so I'm noticing a trend here. Nickelodeon is canceling pretty much all of their shows! What are they doing? Are they planning something? Plotting? I have no clue. But why would a successful TV network such as Nick cancel their most popular shows? It makes no sense.

Maybe they're making room for My Little Pony?

Okay, I know that this is a daft and absurd theory, considering what that channel is like, and considering what king of Dan Schneider "Comedy" shows are on that channel, but be honest: That would be the most awesomely awesome thing Nickelodeon has ever done!

It'd totally make up for every lame thing they've ever done! Except for censoring the Webicon episode of iCarly. That was unforgivable.

They're gonna do more teen drama comedy coz that's what gets them rating and they can do a whole lot more product placements on those shows.

Then this is the end of the era of sweet childhood cartoon. Now Nickelodeon!

Hmm. Yes, you're right. Even look at that "Avatar Korra" thingy. What a break down.

All of the old cartoon television networks are selling out, replacing entertaining and engaging shows for cheap tween BS like iCarly. They only care about making easy money, hurting both the quality of their channel and the minds of the children who grow up watching all of this crap. The Hub is the only channel worth watching anymore.

Lol maybe hasbro should make a live action show about bronies that contains product placements of MLP merchandise and parodies teen comedy drama, I bet that it'll beat the network rating of every single competitor.

I'd like for them to bring DBZ Kai over from Nicktoons and put it on their main channel. It'd help it to get more viewers, and hopefully they'd tone down on the censorship a little bit (although I doubt it).

I already have all of DBZ Kai uncut on DVD, so I personally don't really need it on Nickelodeon, but I'd like to see more people get into the series.

Plus, you gotta admit, even though you might hate Kai, it's still way better than most of the crap they're showing on their main channel nowadays.

I agree, I'd rather have more DBZ or even Yugioh for that matter than a constant barrage of Spongebob or Fairly Odd Parents reruns or bad tweencoms. I also think they should have more time to show the new TMNT, that show rocks

They've been doing this for as long as I can remember. They'll advertise a new show that's coming for about six months to a year even. When it finally comes, [it'll usually suck anyway, but] there'll be like 1-3 episodes, and then it'll disappear, never to be seen or heard about again. I think this may be partially the fault of Viacom. They own Nickelodeon, and I've heard that that may be the reason why the longest running show on Nick is Spongebob.

I didn't even know Nick was still running. Regardless, all the kids channels are going to two extremes: Less cartoons, more teenager shows OR super kiddy shows that can ONLY be enjoyed by a four year old.

I thought i was being cynical. Nickelodeon has degraded into mindless dramas for pre-pubescent girls. I rememebr when Nick was all about entertaining cartoons and live action shows that were...good. now they are going for the cheapness that is degrassi and related shows. I did hear that Nickelodean has slpit themselves into different channels. 1 to entertain children calling it NickJr. 1 to entertain older teens, although even that isnt good, called teen nick, then theres the actual cartoon showing nicktoons, then we have Nickelodeon that tries to appeal to he general public but fails horribly.

As long as they dont cancel Spongebob, I dont care what they do.

Spongebob is the only show I have watched on Nickelodeon for years now, and I don't even watch it that much anymore. Call me predictable, but the only show I watch on a regular basis these days is MLP. And that's on YouTube, and even then only when a new episode is released.

Still though, i'd love to see back to back episodes of Spongebob and MLP on the air...that would be pretty sweet.

I actually know for a fact that they're hunting people to create a new cartoon series for them. Which is good, because I'm getting sick of their pseudo-sitcoms. I had a look through what they were after, and apparently they want something character driven and comical.

Wow I just recently found out that Addictinggames.com is currently owned by Nickelodeon. And cancelling their shows? Do you mean the shows like Spongebob and Fairly Odd Parents? I thought they were still running.

It didn't really surprise me at all...Every channel like Nick is turning into a pile of live-action crap. I used to like a lot of shows on Fox Kids and Jetix. Then they started replacing all their shows with live action crap, and finally, Disney Channel came...poor poor Walt, he must be rolling in his grave so much, he could power an entire state.

Nickelodeon is just not as good as it used to be.

They still play some good cartoons, but Spongebob episodes are not as good anymore and don't come out often and Fairly Odd Parents jumped the shark once they added Poof. I guess the only way to watch their good shows is to watch re-runs or watch Nicktoons.

And they try to make new cartoons or even make "teen sitcoms" (really just stupid teen problems with a laugh track every 5 seconds) every year, and they all suck and don't last too long.

Maybe they're making room for My Little Pony?

They already show it on Nick in Germany. That's right, one episode per day on free TV! I bet you're sooo jelly now! Anyway, that can't be it.

My guess is that they are making room for some new shows. Like mentioned before, some of the more popular ones have just lost quality, maybe they need something to attract a bigger audience again, who knows.

Nick has lately just been showing mostly crap except for spongebob and the Fairly Odd Parents re-runs. I mean a few months ago I came across a commercial for a fairly odd parents Christmas movie and guess what it was LIVE ACTION!! if anything I just wish they would stop showing dramas and stupid sitcoms.

I really only watch Nick for re-runs of Spongebob and Fairly Odd Parents, and I watch 90's are All That on Teenick.  Every night at midnight, they show a marathon of a certain 90's show from Nickelodeon.  Last week, it was Kenan and Kel, now it's Rugrats.

I haven't payed any attention to Nickelodeon in a while, but when I still did, I remember none of their show lasted very long. It seemed like no matter how successful they were, they only lasted for three seasons. I have no idea why, though.

Nick is still up and running?I seriously had no clue.

Anyways, they're a corporation, and corporations only really care about making money. If stupid BS tween stuff is what makes them get views,so be it.They're just following a trend in society, and unfortunately, society prefers to watch tweencoms over good quality shows.
