Have you ever been banned?

I've never been banned from anywhere. I've rarely ever received warnings as well, and those warnings were only on really strict forums, and for silly things.

With that, it's pretty hard for me to understand how others have got banned so many times. It's like, what does somebody have to do to get banned even once? Seems to be like you have to be trying... Unless you're dealing with bad staff. Even so, I've dealt with bad staff and never ended up being banned.

The way that I've understood it is that a difference of opinions is always the first step into a glorious obivion.

That and some admins are keen on keeping wraps on their site and their egos.

Heh. Have I ever been banned? More like how I ever not been banned.  When I was younger I used to troll a lot. So yeah... I've been banned everywhere. :P

But now I'm just your lovable nobody.

Yeah, actually... Believe it or not, I've been banned quite a few times at quite a few places.

Banned from a few game servers back in the day for hax. I wasn't hacking though, I just used a trackball and had mastered being able to spin around insanely fast and take someone out in FPS games. I also played with a headset, volume extremely high, and coffee-infused reflexes. Yeah, I used to be awesome... Until I got banned, again and again and again. Nowadays, due to wrist injury, I'm anticipating being a free kill when I'm able to play again. Not as much glory, but no danger of bans. So... Yay? >_>

Banned from a few computer-related sites for being a nasty-tempered flamer, also back in the day (a few permabans). If you were a Mac user, then I was going to light up the topic until you either saw reason or the mods came down on me. If you were a Windows user, I approved, but you had better not complain. If you were a linux user, then you'd better be using the right linux... I didn't have an off switch back then. Once the fight started, no backing down and no prisoners taken. I was a nut. Nowadays... I'm a Mac user. Go figure. (Hackintosh, though.) >_>

Banned from Hacker News for an awesome fight with a semi-legendary coder. I lost the fight. Mods closed and hid the thread and then moved in to cleanup. I was hammered with a temporary suspension for being a prick. I disagree with the punishment, but... Ehhhh... They're dictators over there.

And, ummm... Yeah. I occasionally ban myself from MLP Forums accidentally when testing various things out. I do it for science!!! >_>

Yes on multiple charges.  My bans have varied from being banned for a couple of hours to being banned for a couple of weeks/a month to being banned for life.  All different reasons, all different time periods in my life, all me.

I've been banned several times in the past while using accounts to troll forums, but only once was I ever banned under my current online identity.

It was back in early 2008. I was a member of the YouChew Poop Forum, a community dedicated to making YouTube Poops. I had a fairly strong reputation due to my hanging around with the right members and making videos which were well received. But the administrator of the forum was aggressively pursuing a policy of cracking down on certain types of YouTube Poops while promoting his own vision. He rarely listened to the moderators, readily insulated himself from the rest of the community, and often banned those who were in open disagreement with him. All of this unfolded with an increasingly technically unstable forum which could not handle the demands placed on it.

A few members and I finally had enough, and we pursued the creation of our own forum called "Planet Freedom", named after the locale from the Sonic OVA, for dissatisfied members. We didn't intend to compete with YouChew Poop; we simply wanted to provide another area for discussion. Once the forum owner caught wind of it, however, he slapped me with a ban. (A funny thing was that the ban status had me listed as an "Iconoclast".) I never attempted to create an alternate account -- but sympathetic members who were on board with the new forum relayed my well wishes to everyone else still on YouChew Poop.

To make a very long story short, I was eventually unbanned and took over as a proprietor of YouChew Poop. I helped run things until I stepped down in late 2010. Now I'm an admin yet again for a large forum -- just without all the hassle.

I was a huge Apple enthusiast back in the day, and joined a few Mac forums. One of which I'm still a member of to this, my longest active forum membership ever. (Six years and counting). But there was one in particular, of which I have a bit of a complicated history. Suffice to say, the admin was a total controlling douchebag who did not appreciate the light-heartedness and humor infused into my posts. I was banned for "being a prick" within three or four months of being there. (I thought that was a bit unprofessional, to say the least.) There was a massive, days long argument between me and him, which of course got me nowhere. After several attempts at new accounts, I finally managed to make one and keep it for a good two years or so, becoming a respected member of the community in that time. Then, I outed myself as that original banned member, and was instantly perma-banned again, with every one of those members turning their backs on me with it. Never been back, bunch of a-holes.

Also, I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this here before, but I am never, ever allowed to have an account or make transactions with Bank of America. I'm not actually legally allowed to say why, but yeah. Never donate money to my greatness through them.  :P

Many times but been using forums since 2003. Usually lately it happens when arguing with arrogant kids, or people who like arguing for the sake of arguing, never admitting when they are wrong, even when you prove them you know more. And eventually the cup gets full and flame starts, That's why I avoid arguing or discussing political or other serious topics with kids or forum that is simply with too young guys to realize some things, no offense. And it's usually gaming communities, so it doesn't matter to me. I am pretty much done hanging out on forums very much, not to say discussing things out of the forums' scope.

I've had plenty of differences of opinion. And I've even been honest about my feelings about the way forums were run, and the way admins were doing it. On one forum I knew the admin hated me, but I never got banned.

Been banned from loads of Sonic forums over the years, but it is mostly on their idiotic behalf. As I grew, I realized that a lot of Sonic forums are just full of trolls and degenerates who don't care for the community and roleplay with those OP characters with a bazillion DBZ copy-and-paste attacks, sometimes even just recolours.

Let's see, I've been banned for making a balanced character that was supposedly OP, I've been banned for having a Fluttershy avatar; you heard me right folks, a Fluttershy avatar got me banned, and countless other things. This is the main reason I left those forums and switched to the MLP ones, we're all good people and not just low-life trolls.

So you don't have to say the site or even reply but just wondering. Have you ever been banned from a website. I know for me I have and latest one was a few datys ago because some people who were mad at me decided to message the staff saying I was a fake. I find it quite funny cause they loved me up until last night so thats my story.

Permanently banned from an entire website? No, never. Temporal bans I get only seldom, too. But I do collect warnings on internet forums.

When I was underage, yes. Oh how I regret those days but everyone has to start somewhere I guess. Also in like mid-09 I had a troll phase (also days I regret) so while I didn't get banned from any forums I was legitimately a part of during that time period but I was banned from ones I partook in raids on needless to say.

Hmmm, I wonder if you and I have ever stumbled upon any of the same forums :3 Before MLP I was on lots of Sonic forums as well, two of which I was an admin on for a while.

Quotes on this forum don't stack. Should you quote a post that contains a quote, that nested quote will be removed. Personally, I like it that way, although it can mean more leg work if a passerby wants to read up on a long conversation that didn't originally involve them. On a forum that I used to frequent, quoted quotes were not deleted. That means that unless you manually cleaned up a quoted post to only contain what was relevant, the quote box could get very large — large enough to stretch the page and force users to scroll horizontally in order to see everything. This was frowned upon. So, naturally, people occasionally do it.

Once upon a time, somebody posted a BS thread that was obviously destined for closure and probably deletion. A few other guys and I posted BS responses to this BS thread for the sake of inb4'ing its closure, which is completely acceptable there. What wasn't acceptable, oddly enough, was creating a page-stretching quote chain in that thread. We each received a two-day ban for it. My activity there was high but sporadic, so I didn't log in and discover that I had been banned until three days after the ban had expired. That's the only time I can recall that I was banned anywhere; I've never even received any warning points here.

I'm such a prankster.

Wow, weird you bring that up.

A couple of years ago my mom and I were in the grocery store. I saw an elderly couple in front of us drop a $5 bill on the ground. I ran over and grabbed the bill and tapped the woman on the shoulder. She turned around and was very surprised that I didn't keep it for myself, so she gave me a dollar in return as thanks.

Freakin' moral upbringing...I could've made $5.   laugh.png

I did that with a $1 bill in a gas station, except the lady was young and I pretty much had to yell at her from a few feet away before she realized that I was trying to get her attention.

I could stil post on that social networking site (the most I'll divulge as to what it is) but I still had many staff (and some using invisible mode) watching over me.  I was simply a nopony, they had staff applications for when the site began falling apart and I became a moderator.  Of course I was also kicked (I believe I was the only mod to actually get the boot) and right now the last I heard the strings on many of the staff's friendships are beginning to unravel a bit.  I still use the same alias everywhere (since it is also the one I use for conventions) and at this point I'm unknown enough still that most aren't aware of what happened.

The sad part is that the site is significantly larger than MLPforums in terms of registrations and users online (note: One of the site's addons has a bug that continually locks in users that have a bad habit of not closing their browser) but it really isn't known well in the fandom.  I've plugged it in at EqD, here and a few others and it gets little to no relevant results.

we're all good people and not just low-life trolls.

Woah man, not all trolls are low lives.

Some trolls never stop and do the most annoying and douchy of all the ways to troll someone, but a lot of trolls aren't like that.

For instance, I only troll idiots, angry kids, douches, or whenever there is a golden opportunity to. I'm not really bad unless I really don't like someone :P ; I just do some decently to minorly annoying things. Nothing too bad, and a lot of trolls are like me. Trolls can be good people too :3.

This is why I joined Trollarch.

I love going to the limit of the banning range just to annoy idiots n such. I did that yesterday while playing league by not letting anyone have any kills, then afterward I was able to counter one kid who was arguing back at me :L

Now once I get xbox live and CoD black ops II, I will be able to move onward to the larger gaming community~!

In real life I've been banned from a few pubs....

As for sites there are one or two. Generally I try to keep the peace and not cause trouble but there have been times when I tell someone off for being racist or a bigot and because they're cosy with the mods I get hit with a ban hammer.
