Which is worse: guns or knives?

To all of you: The question is which is worse to get hurt with, not which one is more evil.

 

Neither of them are bad because they don't have brains, and without the knife civilization would not exist. You have to worry about the killers, not their tools. When was the last time a gun just jumped up all on its own and committed mass murder?

 

As for getting hurt, I trust other people with guns more than I trust them with knives. I understand in the back of my mind that usually they won't attack me, but it freaks me out anyway. And besides, people with knives can cut body parts off, whereas bullets just leave holes that can heal if you go to the hospital.

a gun can kill you instanty, do this with a knife it's very difficult,  btw i prefer to be shooted by a gun.. it's neater, more "moral" and less humiliating... so yep... knives are worse, but guns are more lethal

A knife, definitely. But it really depends on what gun. Let's just say a standard handgun, nothing fancy. The knife would hurt a lot more. It's either a bullet wound, which could damage your organs and tissue with fragments, or a knife wound, which leaves a bigger wound, making you bleed.

 

In experience of pain, I would think the knife would hurt more because it targets a bigger area. But both are equally lethal if not taken care of properly, especially bullet fragments.

 

Anyone saying that knives only leave a few cuts, trust me, you don't want to get cut or stabbed, both hurt a lot. Plus getting cut in muscle tissue, that's the worst. We're not talking about small cuts, like from a cooking accident or a mistake while shaving. We're talking about a person that doesn't care how deep he cuts you, possibly 5-10 cm long cuts. And oh boy, trust me, those kind of cuts really hurt.

 

And oh, dodging a knife sounds a lot easier than it actually is.

Depends on what gun it is and what knife it is.

 

If you mean in general I would say guns are worse because they are made for killing. Knifes is used for many other things.

If you mean to get killed by only, again, it depends on so many things. Where you get shot/cut for example.

Guns, because you can always outrun someone with a knife.  The killer must be really close to their victim if they want to kill you while a shooter can hurt you as soon as you're in his sight.

Depends, both have their own pros and cons. 

 

You use one of the two types of weapon when you think it's best to use it. You want to be quiet, you can use knives or even guns with a suppressor mod -- though, if you are sloppy, shell casings could give away your position or leave evidence when it comes to a murderous plot. Knives on the other hand... stealthy, get up close and personal and then STAB!

Frontal or direct assault one, you could use knives or the likes and be those kinds of mindless berserkers who will risk their lives to get the bloody job done, guns are more suited though.

Yet you can use them both at the same time, for instance the weapon called the musket, old and historical weapons. Slow loading, proven to be inaccurate sometimes, but with the help of it's bayonet... it's deadly.

I would say they're about equal. As both can kill someone, in the users hands. That being said a slight margin is given to guns due to range and effectiveness.

When I saw this question I saw, "is it worse for fewer people to die long and painfully, or for more people to die yet quickly". It's hard to read a headline that reads XX people died in a shooting, but I feel more saddened when I hear that someone or a few people were stabbed to death (though there aren't as many knife sprees), considering they have to feel the blade sink in and out of their body for probably a minute, more or less instead of just getting to the point.

But it's the difficulty of killing someone with a knife that is much more painful for the victim. Still, they might have a chance to survive with a knife despite the pain of each stab whereas a gun will finish the job without question.

Depends on where the person is being shot or stabbed, really. A knife in the heart or across the throat will kill pretty quickly, probably before the shock even wears off. Alternatively, you could shoot someone in the gut, which is apparently one of the longest and most painful deaths you can get. (Man, what a grim topic.  )

Guns, they've caused much pain and suffering across the world, inventing them was a mistake, because they are more often used for cruel actions rather than keeping peace. Now people can kill each other from long distance and there is no way to protect Yourself. It's one of those things that I'd love to see banned. Knives are also bad, because they cause much pain in the process, but IMO not as bad as guns. Still this topic is a bit.. grim? ;O
