I fell in love with Luna probably for the same reason most did. When she became the shows woobie with her harsh past and heartfelt effort to change I became more attached to her. She is in my overall top 5 ponies and the comics certainly helped her get there. I can relate to her as she tries her hardest to improve herself and make friends even when others dont trust her.
