Dark Qiviut 22,396 March 17, 2013 Share March 17, 2013 (edited) Invented in China several millenia ago, pasta has been a common food, now located around the world. Countries like Italy (well-known for its distinct pasta variations), South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, and Thailand have many pasta staples (i.e., fettuccine Alfredo, gnocchi, lasagne, ravioli/raviolo, Pad Thai, Lo Mein, and spaghetti). Italy has many ways to make pasta, but its most common are fresh (usually made with eggs and cooks much faster, anywhere from one to four minutes depending on the size, gluten, and thickness) and dry (water, salt, and flour with a longer shelf life).Needless to say, I'm a HUGE pasta fan and have loved it since I was a kid. Spaghetti, fettuccine, baked ziti, angel hair, meat lasagne, pappardelle, rice noodles, cellophane noodles, couscous, pho, tortellini, macaroni, vermicelli, and udon. (Need to try gnocchi one day.) Most of the time, the pasta I make is dry and packaged; the only time I eat fresh pasta is at a restaurant. Tonight, I decided to make homemade fresh pasta for the first time. (Egg fettuccine made with half-all purpose and half-whole wheat flour with panko-breaded Chicken Parmesan on the side.) Yummy, and I'll definitely make it again someday.Describe your pasta adventures. Love it, hate it. Tell us your pasta tales. Pasta recipes. Sauces you like on pasta. Favorite places to get pasta. Any types of pasta you love. And so on, as long as it relates to pasta! moneyshredderofdeath 414 March 17, 2013 Share March 17, 2013 I loves spaghetti. Specifically doused with tomato sauce. Then once I'm done with the spaghetti I sop the sauce with Italian bread, so tasty.
The Pony Alchemist 70 March 17, 2013 Share March 17, 2013 Carbonara is the official Pasta of Rome. It is make with either traditional spaghetti or linguine. It also has bacon in it... so it is automatically good (unless you are vegetarian or vegan) Let's PlaysGame SpotlightsVlogsPonies (new)LincDNhttp://www.youtube.com/user/LincDN?feature=mhee
Dr. Eggnog 203 March 17, 2013 Share March 17, 2013 OMG I love love LOVE pasta. I would be fine with never having steak or chicken again, but pastas are probably my favorite cooked foods, which'll be nice when I move out on my own cause I hear they're easy to make. I love you. Coffee Cream 74 March 17, 2013 Share March 17, 2013 I absolutely love pasta! I could eat it every day (if it was healthier for you lol). My Nonna (grandmother in Italian) has some of the best home made sauce to go with her pasta. I could literally just eat it out of the jar with a spoon. A Blithering Div 247 March 17, 2013 Share March 17, 2013 Gnocchis are made with potato and flour, so to be that guy, they aren't technically "pasta". Still love 'em though. The only pasta dish I don't care for is lasagna because every one I've had has always had way too much ricotta in it. The best about pasta is the leftovers. Fried leftover Spaghetti FTW. Sauce doesn't matter either. White sauce, tomato sauce, chuncky or puréed. I don't care, I'll still eat way too much of it and then more fore breakfast the next day. I can neither confirm nor deny myself being the cause of electrical related malfunctions. Anyways, you wouldn't happen to have a jar of replacement magic smoke would you?
