Butterflies appear in daylihgt, while moths are attracted to light but come out in the darkness. All creatures of darkness get scorned, plus they're ugly looking; No pretty colors.

Plus Moths are pests. They eat you wool and cotton garments and lay eggs in your house and the babies, after they hatch, eat your garments and the cycle continues.  Though, they are fun to play with and catch like butterflies. I just find the easy to spot eyes creepy. Especially on the queens. *sudden realization* New villain for the season 4 premiere, Fey lown Huong The Moth Queen.

Yeah, when i come across a queen anything i usually turn into Jack Sparrow running away from the cannibals in that scene.

 

Queen Termites, as well as her subjects, can make for a delicious snack if you cook them over an open fire.

Adult moths aren't really problematic. It's the larva that are. Some species eat clothes, others attack garden plants, like army worms.

 

Adult moths really have no way to hurt you unless they happen to be a poisonous one. They don't have pincers or anything.

Oh, don't worry. If I remember right, most extremely poisonous moth species live in rainforests. Unlike spiders, where there could possibly be an extremely venomous one sitting on your thigh, about to sink its fangs into your skin.
