music Rock songs with deep meanings?

And you were exactly right in everything you had stated there. I just wish others *not you* would not bring religious matters into discussion because all it causes nothing but trouble... but you already knew that fact.

You should post songs on here because they're good, not because their "preachy". I also don't understand why people let their religion get in the way of the music that they listen to.

I don't associate myself with any religion but still, why? Anyways, here's some Candlemass.

Tool.

That's nearly as deep as rock music can be. Jungian psychology, the third eye, aliens, critizism about many things, like kangaroo courts, religion, capitalism, hypocrisy and so on.

There's one very beautiful song called Wings for Marie/10000 Days, it's a two-part piece telling the story of the lead singer M. J. Keenan's mother, who had a stroke, and had to spend the last 27 years of her life in a wheelchair.

But she never lost her belief in God.

Other good songs are The Pot, Lateralus, Disposition-Reflection-Triad, Jambi, Vicarious (a protest against TV violence), Eulogy and Parabol-Parabola.

Enjoy.

I suppose some others feel inclined to push things upon others (don't ask me why) :/.... some people are well they just need to learn to keep there mouth shut about certain things because not everyone wants to hear about others opinions and ways of beliefs that is for sure.

This song by tool is really interesting

Tool's a great band. Undertow is definitely one of the greatest albums of the 90's. I've listened to it many times, haven't gotten tired of it one bit.

For a deep song that can be Interpreted many different ways i would definitly go with Mudvayne's "Not Falling" They may not be safe for christians and this song is a little heavy but not overly heavy and no swearing lol

They should keep their mouth shut, and sad part is how they're limiting themselves on the amount of music they could be enjoying.

Anyways, since you brought up Tool I was wondering if by any chance, are you into Opeth. I love these guys. http://youtube.com/watch?v=QpUfPP4KyRE

And yes Pink Floyd does just that with deep music you can get lost in.

OH MY GERD YOU MENTIONED PINK FLOYD! Sorry for being overbearing, but they are my favorite band.yay.png

I figure I might as well post some more Pink Floyd.

I am currently listening to this song you posted and it is amazing. I have never heard of Opeth before but they have a very good mixture in their music. The heavy riffs going to a smooth calm part back to heavy riffs... I am liking what I am hearing a lot :3

Well, I'm glad you enjoyed Opeth. They're one of the greatest bands to have came out of Sweden. I've also been digging these guys lately, I hope I can buy one of their CDs tomorrow when I go to the record store.

By far my all time favorite song by them.

I know that song by heart, along with several others. yay.png

That is my on again off again favorite. Comfortably Numb would have to be the other.

Oh, since noone has mentioned him: DIO may he RIP, he was gloriously awesome

DIO is pretty good, got hooked on Rainbow in the Dark for like half a year. Before I was really into music too, back in the dark ages when the only Pink Floyd song I sort of knew was Another Brick in the Wall Pt 2.

Okay my last post was Pink Floyd so I should probably rotate.dry.png

I am Mine by Pearl Jam, I basically have this philosphoy on life.

Dammit Dawn, I kind of hate to admit, but Opeth has begun to grow on me since that first time I said I loved/hated them. The growling is still a tad bit annoying but  I definitely like them. Geez this forum really has changed me, never thought I'd like like a metal band.

Hold on a second you two.

I am quite offended by the things you are saying.

Firstly, just because I'm a Christian it doesn't mean that I'm some old fart who won't listen to anything. It just means that I have a conscience, and I refuse to let anything compromise that.

Second, we all have a right to voice our beliefs. Some people can be too pushy about it, but not everyone. I'm not gonna keep my mouth shut if I feel that voicing my opinion is important (like right now).

So can you please keep your hate for me (and others) off of this topic? -_-

I sent you a message on your profile concerning this. And I gave my apologies there I never wanted to come across as being mean to you so I do apologize first hand.

I never said anything "hateful" towards any religion. I just said that I felt bad for people who limit the music that they listen to based on their beliefs. I never directly attacked anyone.

Harumf.  People, amirite?

Anyways, back to the music.  I find this song to be a stark, insightful journey into our inexplicable desire for the things we can't have.

Might as well bring some Greenday into the mix. Boulavard of Broken Dreams

Dude Green Day is lame, you should listen to Black Flag.

This song has so much angst and pain in it.

Oh, and the sheer anger and frustration in this song too.

I thought they handled it quite maturely, oh well back to deep music.

I didn't rage at anybody one bit. Edited by AtDawnTheySquee

Dude, seriously, why do you have to reply to every single thing you don't like just to call it lame or say it sucks or something? If you don't like it, then don't even say anything about it, or just simply say you don't like it and recommend something else. Like I'm really not understanding why you feel the need to do that, it's kind of rude. Let people post what they want without you insulting it, it's not that hard.

I'm going to say everything ever made by Converge. What I find even more amazing than the fact that every single song they have ever made is meaningful, is that these songs doesn't even need lyrics to be deep. Only the instrumental version brings so many raw emotions and feelings of aggression and sadness, especially in Jane Doe. Legendary album

Ah yes the good Flogging Molly a band I have loved for a long time now. Both of these songs are nice to listen to and the lyrics have a lot meaning in these days too. Flogging Molly are awesome.
