Well, this was a hard one , and i dont know if its my best honestly . it didn't turn out as planned but still good enough i guess . but i hope you like it, tell me what you think. please, reply, share, and scale it from 1/10  and of you're going to brohoof, please leave a reply with it  *oh and those helmets do have the other 6's cutie marks on them. and i might make the rest of the mane 6 with this style*

Not a bad graphite style of Applejack in World War II. Looks pretty amazing like the actual World War II, so I salute you with a 8/10.

I do think it's good, but I don't really get why there are all the guns and helmets. I know what hey symbolize and that is why I don't get why they are there. I guess it adds to the picture, it adds some mystery.

In terms of historical authenticity (aside from Applejack ) it's about 90% ok.

 

Helmet bands were indeed used by the US in WWII, however they were rarely used. Those that were were mostly used in the PTO, and in Italy semi-famously by commandos. It wasn't until the Vietnam War that they became standard. This leads to the playing card (which can be construed as a "death card"). There are no known images of American soldiers putting playing cards in their helmet bands until Vietnam. The closest thing to it in WWII was the airborne's use of the symbols painted on to designate regiments.

 

So yeah, if you do a fine tuned redo ever, ditch the card, or reset to Vietnam with changing weapons/backdrop.

Heh, yea, i wasn't intending to make it like 100% accurate. I took most influence from CoD World at War *dumb decision* and Saving Private Ryan *Cpt Millers helmet* the card for me just looks cool, i WAS going to make it a photo of Applebloom for Emotion, but the helmets with the mane 6's cutie marks on them is already enough, and i didn't want the helmet to be dull. but yea i was resisting while drawing the card, but i did it any ways...*nice profile pic btw*

every day i come on this site people amaze me with their talent you my friend obviously have talent  this picture look awesome id have to rate it 9.5-10/10 i don't often see graphite works but when i do the detail inspires me to become better with my own drawing style

Looks pretty good I think, it took a while for me to make out for whatever reason, not sure why. But it looks cool.

 

Maybe it's due to the bottom part of the picture being a very dark color, not sure what that is exactly, but anyways its still good I think. 9/10.

Looks pretty good, did you use any kind of shadow based pencils or just your good old standard writing pencil? Also like the gritty fill you get from looking at it, reminds me of an old school black and white photo. lol

Thank you. Now key me answer your comment... I judge my own work because I like to keep my ego down, when my ego goes up, all the critiques make me mad, you see? And the 'not so good' artists who think there 110% then complain from those who criticize the anatomy or the coloring etc, they go into a huge hissy fit because they either bever encountered critiques, because their new, they have a big ego because their friends say its good, or the replies are too nice XD I hope you get it now

Heres the problem i see with it, the ace card in the helmet, that didnt start till around the beginning of the vietnam war (i think, never saw it appear in any photographs of WW2), beacuse older helmets didnt have those straps or whatever, its good, ill give it that, but the card part kinda bugs me XP

Wow, a really excellent drawing! It's really well done, I just love it. My only minor gripe would be that it's a little hard to see the cutie marks on the helmets in the background, but it doesn't detract from the overall quality of the piece at all. I'd give it 10/10!

I can do this! Well, the vectorizing, that is. I'll just cut AJ out of the picture, digitalize her, then make her a vector, then you can get someone to do a wallpaper, because I don't know crap about making good wallpapers... I can only add a vector to a background that someone else made... I'm bad at stuff like that. >_<

You may be interested in a project I'm working on with a friend of my.

It will be about war between Equestria and Sombria and will be in WWII atmosphere.

Applejack looks great in graphite, and your style seems to compliment the gritty wartime aesthetic superbly. I'm kind of a sucker for dark wartime ponies, so this hit all kinds of sweet spots for me.

 

Keep up the excellent work. If you're still planning to draw the other 5, I can't wait to see them!
