That is a prism refracting light. The Question of 'What Colour is A Mirror?' has been solved already, so now we only wait for me to post the new question.

This is a quote of someone stating the obvious about a quote.

This post has been made to rhetorically humour the meta of the situation. This sentence describes the existence of the previous sentence.

-insert laugh here-

I pointed out that it was a prism, because what does that have to do with the topic? Now please, wait for my next question, if you'd like to keep participating.

Why do we have two nostrils? We have two eyes to create depth, we have two ears to differentiate where a sound is coming from, but why do we need two nostrils?

Aw, I remember reading the answer to that somewhere... I just don't remember what it was.

Maybe it was so if one of them gets clogged up we can still smell through the other one.

Close. Oh so very close.

I really haven't looked into this at all myself, but I'll take a crack at it. I'm guessing because evolution decided two was better than one. Maybe making it more difficult to completely cut off breathing through you nose. Or maybe it just works better for your respiratory system. I dunno. Might also just be  a symmetry thing.

We have two nostrils to smell better. One dominant nostril to breath is a thing that every human has. While we take in enough oxygen through that one, the other can "focus" on smelling. Smelling is a quite "slow" chemical/neurochemical reaction. If we would breath with the same strength through both nostrils just to take in enough oxygen, our smelling would be limited. While one nostril is always a bit more opened in the inside to let more oxygen through the other one is more closed to let the receptors work.

The reason is air filtration. Each nostril has hunderds of hairs and mucous to trap particulate in the air. One nostril would be less effective at trapping since there would be more air traveling through the nostril that would not come into contact with hairs/ nostril lining which has mucous.

Though Jokuc says, because you was told in school that two is better than one

I don't remember the exact answer, but I know that we alternate between which nostril we breath through throughout the day. I'll have to watch that Vsauce video again...

Well, that was quick. You win in record time, States The Oblivious.

What is the closest we can get with another object?

Pretty close. What stops us in the end is the magnetic repulsion between the electrons of the atoms of one object and the electrons of the atoms of another. So we never actually touch other things, when you think about it.

We have two nostrils to be able to smell all sort of odors any time of the day

One of our nostrils suck air better than the other, and which one it is various throughout the day. We need both, as some molecules need to be given time before they reach the olfactory system, while others needs to be rushed to the system in order to identify the smell. If we had a single nostril, we wouldn't be able to smell certain things at different times of the day

Two objects can truly never touch each other because things can get infinitely small. Just as the universe is infinitely big, there is no end to how small things can get

Two objects can never touch each other due to magnetic forces. No matter how hard you try, no molecule with a certain magnetic charge will a touch another molecule with the same charge. And because the outer parts of atoms are negatively charged, two atoms can't come in contact with each other

What is the shortest amount of time possible?

That question has no real answer. "Time" was made up by man to keep track of the days. Unfortunately, "time" is fluid. It cannot be separated into chunks small enough chunks to satisfy the question.

I'm not thinking it's the "right" answer, but my guess would be... none.

But then again, it all depends on how you perceive time. Is it a straight line, or is it just a big ball of timey, wimey, wibbly, wobbly... stuff. tongue.png

Okay, that question about time. Have you ever laid in bed in the morning as the clock reads 7:30, you close your eyes for an instant, and then it reads 9:30? You closed your eyes for an instant, and two hours went past. That was our brain experiencing one event, and immediately jumping to the next, with it being unable to recall anything in between. And because we measure time using our brains, we can say that the same instant is the shortest amount of time possible - it follows how we perceive time.

Chronologists will have a more elaborate theory than me, but that's how I see it. n.n

Zero. That's how time goes for luminar particles, because time stretches into infinite, if observed from the "inside" of that object.
