O_O It just occurred to me that there is probably a demo. I must play it since I won't be able to get the game for who knows how long.

Thanks for reminding me, Greenman.

Ah, if only my computer wasn't a piece of crap lol.

Feel free to add me on steam if you want to play something. Also don't be afraid to message and talk to me. I've had bad luck when I start a conversation, so I more then likely won't start one.

Played the demo. Absolutely adored it of course but it's not anything new. It's the same demo they used for E3 last year.

That said everything's as smooth as always. They've improved the climbing considerably and Gabriel will seem to be able to move a little more freely than on predefined grooves in the environment. They even have a path function that shows you where to go if you don't know and it's totally optional to use yet will speed things up considerably regardless.

I rather liked how the paths you could climb through were not only varied but also not completely obvious. They blended rather well with the environment.

Gabriel's movements are also amazing. From the attack animations to the dodge movements they did a really good job of making him look really cool.

The music seems to be improved as well but I can't say much from the demo. Hopefully they don't do what the first two games did and play the same three or four songs throughout the game.

I finished LoS2, it was enjoyable, and feel like playing again,  though it has some flaws, mainly, the story's pacing, and the ending, while it has a good concept, it was not executed well. BTW, an unseen character in one of LoS1 DLC shows up in the final battle

Well, except of the upcoming Alucard DLC, seems like LoS is finally over, and Igarashi will speak about CV this year's GDC.

MUST KNOW WHAT'S NEXT. They've kept us hanging on with LoS but now that it's officially over will they start a new continuity? Go back to the old one and do the 1999 game? I JUST DON'T KNOW.

So much want. :(

Castlevania looks and sounds fun.

I'm getting a Vita soon, and I saw that there's Symphony of the Night, a game everyone talks about.

Would you say it's worth it? :)

PS: What other castlevania games are in the PSN?

The only Castlevania games available via PSN are:

SotN - The first to introduce the "Metroidvania" gameplay style.

Castlevania Chronicles - Plays oldschool and has you going through different stages from the NES and SNES games. It's little more than a quasi-remake of the original games mashed into one game.

Harmony of Despair - A multiplayer-centric game that allows you to choose a character from the series and play through levels designed to look like areas from past games in the franchise. It is playable alone but if you've never played any other game in the series you probably won't be as wowed by it. I've not played it yet myself so can't say for sure though.

Then the Lords of Shadow games are probably on there as well.

If you want to play the NES games you're gonna need a Wii or 3DS I believe. If you have a REGULAR DS (with GBA slot) there are three on GBA but as of yet they have not been made into Virtual Console territory. And then there's three DS games you can get.

Those are probably the most easily accessed Castlevania games. There are also two on PS2, two on Gameboy, one and a half on N64 (the second one is basically the same thing but with added characters and campaign)...there's a lot to the series but the ones listed above are the most relevant ones. SotN is a good place to start in the series though so I'd say go for it.

Well, the first sounds fun, so I'll give that one a go then when I buy my vita soon.

I've seen a lot of mixed opinions on this one, still considering to buy it, but don't know.

As for the multi one, I think playing at least 3 others in the series would be better before playing.

Well, giving the 3ds soon, but will get a wii u soon, so I'll check into those classics soon.

And if it's the best, then that's on my instant ps1 collection as soon as I get my vita. :)

Oh there are also a PSP game that are probably available on Vita as well. Rondo of Blood. It takes place before SotN and even has a copy of SotN in it. If it's there you should go for it.

Or just get an emulator. Nearly everything can emulate NES these days. I actually finished all those NES Castlevanias on my GBA ;p

Perhaps but not everyone uses emulators for reasons other than whether it can be done or not. I find it unsettling that people suggests emulators so readily when there are legit ways to get a game.

I'm really enjoying Lords of Shadow 2. I thought the first was fantastic and really anticipated the second and I wasn't let down. I never played Mirrors of Fate but it's nice I got a little recap of everything at the beginning lol.

I used to use emulators all the time but now I stray away from them.

Same here.

I won't tell people what they should and shouldn't do, especially with a moral grey area like emulators, but there are legal issues and people have gotten in trouble for using them even if it's unlikely you'd even be caught. On some websites it's considered against the ToS to even suggest using an emulator, though I don't think this is one of them.

Well, I'd probably wouldn't be a fan of CV if it not were for EMOlators  . I was curious about some old articles about Harmony of Dissonance (my discovery of the franchise BTW) and Aria of Sorrow in a Nintendo magazine I used to buy. It cought my eye, but I wasn't grown up enough to try more mature games like CV, Metal Gear, Resident Evil, etc. One day, I saw the SoTN Succubus in a top bosses video, and finally I decided to eye the wikia. Later, I wanted to play one of those, but since I didn't had a credit card to buy from amazon (got one mere two months ago), those games were kinda old and you can't find those in a third world country like Venezuela, I decided to use EMOlator, starting with Harmony of Dissonance. Only the GBA games are emulated thought, the other CVs I've played are legit

It's a fantastic game, I finished it yesterday, but I can see why It got the worst review compared to it's predecessors, since they screwed with many main aspects of the LoS series. I read many anonymous MS employees claiming that the Eric Alvarez made a hell on the game's development, including firing over 30 employees by the time they finished the game.

If you can, buy Dracula X Chronicles for PSP, it's a remake of Rondo of Blood and includes Symphony of the Night

Yeah, like I said it's a grey area. Sometimes there are legit reasons to use one cuz otherwise it would cost several hundreds of dollars to play just a few games, sometimes thousands like in Panzer Dragoon Saga's case.

Also, Dracula X Chronicles is the PSP one I was talking about. It's probably on the Vita store. :P

Yes, please use spoiler tags.

[spoi.ler]INSERT SPOILER TEXT HERE[/spoi.ler]

Do that, without the periods.

I had the fact that

Gabriel turned into Dracula

spoiled for me long before I even had the first LoS because people didn't use spoiler tags. DON'T BE THAT GUY. :(

It looks mighty interesting, almost like it should be it's own game even. I just hope they don't botch it like what happened with the Vergil's Downfall DLC from DmC which had so much potential but it was too bland and Vergil doesn't get any good moves until the final level either and he's only available for the VD levels. LAME.

SOTN is a classic, and  you really can't go wrong there if its your first. Just be warned, the play style is simple, so going back to Castlevania 1-5, will drive you nuts :P

yeah, hopefully it's like Infamous Festival of Blood, and not an expensive 1 hour campaign and lack of new content like most DLC are

I watched my friend play Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and thought it was really amazingly done

He then went back and played some of the older ones and it was unbelievable how much the gameplay and graphics have changed
