Past Impression and Current Opinion on the Mane 6?

Here is what I mean:

Past Impression on Each Mane 6 Pony:

  • Rarity - I thought she was the average snooty character who only cared about herself.
  • Applejack - Thought she was the stereotypical country-type character, nothing really special.
  • Twilight Sparkle - Thought she was that nerdy, "stays inside all day"-type character.
  • Pinkie Pie - Thought she was extremely annoying and not funny in the slightest.
  • Fluttershy - Thought she was shy and a bit adorable.
  • Rainbow Dash - Thought she was the cool type character who was actually kind of awesome.

Current Opinion on Each Mane 6 Pony:

  • Rarity - She's a complex character who deserves to be looked at more than once and given a fair chance to prove herself.
  • Applejack - I think she's a nice character who's always there for her friends, can be quite stubborn but is a great character.
  • Twilight Sparkle - Think she is still nerdy but is a well-fleshed out character who can easily be relate-able to watchers.
  • Pinkie Pie - Think she is funny, she may be annoying at times, but she's still adorable.
  • Fluttershy - She's shy but can be aggressive at times, an interesting character, quite complex to get a hold of as the series goes on.
  • Rainbow Dash - Despite being overly-confident, she's still a great character who's always there for her friends; there's more to her than her coolness.

How about you all?

I would agree with your every thought on each of the mane 6 completely, my first out look on every character in my mind has changed for the better. I think that the creators of the show purposely made each character seem very shallow and 2D to later down the line give each one more depth and make them some what down to earth and relatable. Sort of like a-- dont judge a book by its cover scheme.

-Pinkie pie did a complete 180 seeing as to how she use to be a depressed little pony.

-Twilight use to seem like just another nerdy book worm but, then shows weaknesses and how she can over come them. A good example of this would be the episode where she does not want to stand up to Trixie in fear that her friends would be disappointed in her.

-Fluttershy shows more depth in that she actually now stands up for herself and is more assertive.

-Both Rainbow and Rarity seemed to be selfish characters but, then later on show how much they care for their friends and other ponies.

-Applejack shows a change in episode where she thinks she does not need help from her friends and then later on excepts help and acknowledges her friends because she knows that she can not harvest all of the apples by herself.

Past Impression:

Applejack- She has been my favorite pony from the start, I loved her since I first started watching.

Twilight Sparkle- I thought she was a decent character but otherwise didn't pay too much attention to her.

Rainbow Dash- I liked her but thought she a tad overrated.

Pinkie Pie- I also took a quick liking to Pinkie Pie though not as quick as Applejack though I seriously wanted to slap her in Griffon The Brush Off.

Fluttershy- I thought she was a cute and interesting character but far from being my favorite.

Rarity- Does anyone have a crowbar I can borrow? Okay all joking aside though I didn't hate her that much I didn't like her because I found her shallow and vain side extremely annoying and overbearing.

Current Opinion:

Applejack- I actually love Applejack more than ever, more and more reasons keep getting added to what was an already long list of reasons why she is awesome. I find myself defending her and making my case as best as I can to why she is a much deeper more interesting character that alot of people give her credit for.

Twilight Sparkle- When I started paying more attention to Twilight Sparkle I saw what an awesome character she really is and she became my 2nd favorite pony and then tied with Applejack for my favorite. When it comes to contests and polls I will choose AJ because she needs more love but other than that I don't think I can decide between those two and Luna.

Rainbow Dash- After her excellent character development in season 3 I now no longer think she is overrated, she is now my 2nd favorite pony.

Pinkie Pie- Pinkie Pie was kind of meh in season 3 except for a few moments but I still find her random antics to be hilarious.

Fluttershy- I am getting seriously annoyed at the inconsistent way they are writing Fluttershy, do any lessons she learns actually stick with her? Despite this I do like Fluttershy but this whole learns a lesson and forgets it a few episodes later thing is just uhhhh.

Rarity- She is still not my favorite but I like her a lot more than I used to and she is no longer my least favorite mane 6 pony. I am still annoyed by how thick her shallow and vain side is laid on a lot of times but as I watch and rewatch episodes I notice more and more things about her I haven't noticed before. They do a good job bringing out her positive qualities in the episodes she is featured in but it seems a lot of times like the writers aren't sure what to do with her. It is kind of sad because she and Applejack both have the most untapped potential of the mane 6.

Past Impression

Applejack: She seemed like a nice character with a great design, and I looked forward to seeing what the show did with her. She seemed like a great friend to have despite some flaws.

Rainbow Dash: I really didn't like her in the beginning. She came off to me as a headstrong character who put herself before others most of the time, and never thought about the consequences of her actions. She kind of seemed mean to me, and I didn't understand why so many people liked her.

Rarity: I didn't really have much of a opinion of her at the beginning. All I really got was that she liked fashion. She didn't seem snooty; she seemed pretty generous about giving up her spare time to help others, but that was about it.

Twilight Sparkle: From the first moment she appeared on screen, I knew I would like her. She reminded me of me a lot, and she seemed like a socially awkward bookworm. A lot like me. She is such an awesome character even from the start. She kind of seemed like just the average nerd-type character in the beginning, but turned out to be so much more. I like all the different sides that make her so unique.

Pinkie Pie: She seemed like one of those awesome crazy characters that have some of the funniest moments ever. She reminded me of me in some parts as well, and I liked how happy she was and how much she cared about her friends. The only issue I had with her is that she didn't have too many sides to he character in the beginning.

Fluttershy: I fell in love with this character the moment she first appeared on screen. It was like looking in a mirror. However, I will admit she did seem like on of those typical shy and nice characters that are adorable.

Current Opinion

Applejack: I wish the show had done more with this character. It always felt like she was the most neglected in the show, and because of that; not a lot of people immediately liked her including me. However, I'm starting to see the point of her character. She isn't supposed to be a super interesting character. She supposed to be a character that appears to be simple, but actually is very complex in subtle ways. She is pony that values her friends and family, and would do anything for them. Which is why she is so upset whenever she thinks she let them down. She is a very good character in my opinion.

Rainbow Dash: I love all the character development that this character got. Because of how much I disliked her personality before, her character development was the most noticeable to me, and it really made me like her character a lot more. She truly has grown as a character, and because of how much she changed, she even moved up to fifth from last on my ranking of the Mane 6. She is a loyal pony who will defend her friends in any situation, and is no longer as headstrong as she was before. She doesn't let her goat get the best of her

Rarity: Rarity really surprised me as a character. Not only is she probably the funniest characters on the show, she showed a lot of complexity, especially in the episode "Sweet and Elite." Her friends are very important to her; almost as much as her interest in fashion. She was truly torn in that episode, and I just really like this character. Instead of a stereotypical character who cares about nothing other than fashion, she is very different and cares about other things. I don't even think fashion is even close to being more important than her friends to her which is definitely breaking that stereotype.

Twilight Sparkle: She has gotten a ton of character development. She no longer gets scared that her friends might not want her as a friend anymore, and completely trusts them. She is more intelligent about a lot of things now, and is just as awesome of a character as she was before.

Pinkie Pie: Pinkie Pie is a difficult pony to understand. While some still think of her as a character just for laughs, she actually got some more complexity in "A Friend In Deed" and "Too Many Pinkie Pies." In the first episode, it shows just how dedicated she is to her friendships with others. In the second episode, it shows how much her friends mean to her, and how upset she can get when she can't spend as much time as she wants with all her friends. She truly fears upsetting friends. She is a character that loves friendship and is probably one of the most important thing in the world

Fluttershy: She's still my favorite, and is more complex than others give her credit for. She is a very sensitive character, but can put her inner emotions aside when it comes to friends. However, I agree with the people who say she never uses the lessons she's learned, and forgets about them episodes later. She needs some consistency, and I think the writers don't want to change her character as it may lower down the cuteness level of her, or they won't be able to make jokes without her being the way she is. They really need to stop sacrificing the character development for jokes.

WHAT I THOUGHT AT FIRST EVERY PONY

Applejack:She seem nice with a sweet mothering nature that would be shown through her family

Rarity:A bicth who only cared about advancing herself and furthering her towards her goals of being in high society

Pinkie Pie:A pony who enjoys sugar a bit too much and has a partying problem but is funny as all buck

Twilight sparkle:A very smart pony who seem to be the voice of reason and a NERD LOL also I found her very boring

Rainbow dash:The troll pony who liked being awesome and flying fast also she seemed insensitive and had a need to prove her self to the world

Fluttershy:shy and cute but has issues that made her as such and so dam cute

WHAT I THOUGHT AFTER I GOT TO KNOW WHO THEY REALLY ARE AWWW:)

Applejack:she is the most put together pony as well as trustworthy, open minded, cute, honest, and wise in my mind out of the mane six she is the wisest and before you say but everfree that twilight NO twilight is the smartest not the wisest by any means:)

Rarity:she is a kind hard working pony who has passion for her work and loves to help and support her friends in anyway she can. Also she cares for her sister and can get her hooves dirty if need be one last thing she's Fabulous!!!!!!!!!

Pinkie Pie:A deep deep pony who may have even more depth than any of the mane 6 for her truly fascinating outlook on life and back story as well as the abilities some of which even she can't explain. She also has a very fragile state of mind as shown in party of one that points to struggle in her past. But she still pinkie pie and that means shes still as funny as buck and even a bit mature after help the cakes with there babys.

Twilight sparkle:still very smart and I found many more thing I can relate to now such as she worries about things out of her control I appreciate her more after magical mystery cure I feel it completed her character. She has shown leadership and forgiveness as well as understanding for her fellow pony as celestia said she came such a long long way. But I don't really care about learning more about who she is as much as other characters.

Rainbow dash:A loyal pony with a drive to improve her self not just her time but who she is such as taking scootaloo under her wing and reading daring do. She will never forget who her true friends are and will stay by there side. She know when a pony gose to far as shown in wonderbolt academy I feel she has grown a lot even more than twilight at base personally:)

Fluttershy:she has gone under gone a quite but beautiful metamorphosis within her mind some people say she learns the same lesson over and over again but that's just not true. She lean from iron will how not to be a pushover when she has to help raise the water to cloudsdale in hurricane fluttershy she shows she can get over what people think of her and not let the fear of what others might think of her rule her action. In dragon shy she stood up to her biggest fear to help her friends. And her crowning achievement is manipulating the spirit of chaos itself though kindness no less need I say more?

She isn't supposed to be a super interesting character. She supposed to be a character that appears to be simple, but actually is very complex in subtle ways.

But that is actually one of the many reasons why I find her such an interesting and compelling character because she is the closest thing we have to an average person or pony in this case yet despite that if you look deep enough you see a character with a great deal of depth. When I see Applejack I see a character who was forced to grow up too fast because her parents died when she was young and she had to take care of her younger sister and help run the family farm. I see somepony who struggled to find her true self in her cutie mark story and got her cutie mark when she learned that she had to be honest with herself and stop pretending to be somepony else. To say she isn't supposed to be a super interesting character is simply not true, she is even if it is not for the same reasons as the other even if her flaws and quirks aren't as obvious. She became a strong, confident and accomplished young mare but not without great struggle and it is because of that struggle because she has been through things that would destroy alot of other people and the positive message of staying true to yourself and your principles that she displays as a character that I find her to be the most inspirational character in this show.

I can agree with most of what your saying but that fluttershy isn't using her lessons that's just not true. She applies what she has learned in the past regularly but in often subtle ways such as when rainbow dash try to get her to go to the great dragon migration and her iron will side as I call it surfaced. But just because she learns theses lesson dose not mean it will change who she is at her core and that is shy and amazingly she has almost never gone against any of here lessons directly but I know someone who can say this better than me so here's a link so his video addressing it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epAHnViXms4

  • 2 weeks later...

Although I've been a brony for months now, that's still short compared to others, so my opinions haven't changed that much.

Fluttershy - Cute and shy

AppleJack - Old fashioned, caring

Rarity - Snob. This might be the only one I'm changing.

Rainbow Dash - Adventurous, daring, awesome. 20% cooler.

Pinkie Pie - Awesome, fun, funny.

Twilight Sparkle - Intelligent, magical.

This signature was removed for being too obnoxious and arrogant.
