Just a couple weeks ago I’ve released a teaser trailer stating that something big was going to be coming to the Roleplay World soon. That it was going to be a complete new section to add to the roleplaying experience that so many already love here.  Well, with that in mind it is my great honor and privilege to announce that The MLP Forums Equestrian Empire Canon Roleplay Is now Open to the Public.

 

It is at this time, that I would also like to announce the Equestrian Empire staff that will be helping me in the character approval process, and keeping the forums need and organized. I Introduce to you,

I thank all of you that have applied for the position and it was a tough selection through the hiring process. Everyone who applied is more than welcome to do so again in the future should the need arise.

The character Database for the Equestrian Empire should now be live and is at the very bottom of the Roleplay World. The layout of the Equestrian Empire is the Exact same as the normal roleplay section. OOC Section, Roleplay Section, and Character Database.

 

AS far as Character apps go, you can create Character applications now for any Original Character. The only applications that are restricted until the 12th are cast applications. (Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, Princesses, ect.) So feel free to post away. For the time being though, since there will be an influx of characters coming in, I ask that you limit OCs to one ready-to-be-judged unapproved character at a time. You can mark all characters that you are working on aside from that one as WiP. All ones that are read to be examined by staff, please mark as ready, (you can do this by including [WiP] or [Ready] in the name field as it creates the title of your character.

So, please correct me if I get it wrong, there will be an official RP named Equestrian Empire? There's an entire OOC section. Equestrian Empire is the entire world of Equestria itself. it's a housing roleplay for many roleplays within it. It functions exactly the same as the original roleplay world, but is housed completely in equestria and follows Equestrian Canon. Think of it like a Forum based MMO with user driven quests. The only thing we provide is the Lore, and the direction on your character to keep it canon. Whatever else you decide to do with the character there, is completely up to you. I anticipate this being heavily slice of life, but there is plenty of room for the adventurous types as well, as there are many places in Equestria that we have listed that are perfect for them.

It will be very nice if there's a general or main lore to read before reading the lores of each factions one by one. I think I will go with my OC Aerie. You will see the app today, but I doubt it will be ready to approve in a day.

Then I suppose it's a huge role play with more than 1000 active players at a time. You know, the first 'M' in 'MMO' is a serious matter for gamedevs to handle.

I would like to point out that since not everypony has read the comics we aren't incorporating a lot of the comic lore into the empire yet. However, we do have very special plans on how to integrate the lore of the comics into the world naturally, which I think will be more fun for everyone involved.

That actually wasn't quite what I meant. I meant to say that I was going to read the comics over again for the fun of them. However, thank you for the statement, as I was already incorporating comic lore into my apps.

 

But now that you bring it up, Ice; you said that not everyone has already read them; I would like to say that the comics are easily read on YouTube (and definitely worth reading, I might add).

EDIT: I would also like to ask about the status of species that don't get much showtime, but a lot of speculation - Changelings specifically. Will they be accepted (I do not see a category in the OC character application section for Changelings), and how will EE handle the question of the moral alignment of changeling characters?

It's listed under the Non-playable races because of the fact that the abilities that they are presented with are too powerful and can easily be taken advantage of in a roleplay situation. Not to mention they could also otherwise be used to get around cast restrictions.

 

In regards to your first question, it's up to each user. There will be over time, things that will affect Equestria and Different events that we will do that will take place in multiple topics. The Equestrian Empire is just that, Equestria, as we know if from the show. What people do in that section is completely up to them, as long as it's something that could logically happen in the show.

 

As far as the economy and governmental structure that they have, we don't know. Their order of hierarchy and the status of their economy is never established in the show, and as far as technologies go, it looks to be around the 1800's. They have trains, but no obvious forms of electricity, and what advancements they have appear to be powered by magic. Most current technologies like game consoles, computers, televisions, and vehicles don't exist yet. Video games exist, but only in arcade forms and are powered by magic until the show gives us hard evidence of electricity.

Ah, thanks for clearing all of that up. I can certainly understand changelings being abused, and I imagine any restrictions that could be placed would be frustrating to police.

 

And I see. How restricted are plotlines, and how much free-will are GMs given for plotlines? Obviously, International or national-level crises would be a no-no, and I imagine regional (Northern, Southern, etc.) are right out as well, but what about municipal level? Or perhaps a few blocks, a village, etcetera?

 

Technology seems forward enough. Magic gives way to its own sort of technological revolution, but a lot of things we see from the industrial revolution and beyond are right out. Electricity appears to be replaced by magic.

 

I don't think we're ever going to get in-depth answers on economics and politics. I suppose the information is primarily irrelevant (unless the plot follows some political intrigue) however. I assume speculation on unknowns isn't permitted?

Some errors I noticed in the database:

 

-Images don't show, only links. Annoying for mobile users.

-In the 'Age' field, the first letter is not uppercase, even if you typed it out to be uppercase.

-The 'Backstory' field does not show.

Small quarrels and stuff between cities and regions are up to them, but should never result in any sort of violence or anything that could lead to such.

Besides what shift mentioned, When I went to edit my character, it gave me the option chose what category wanted to put him in, Unapproved or Approved.

 

Also, I did not see "Bat Pony" on ether list. Just wondering if that is something we may see added for characters? It would be nice to have it on one list or the other.

The option will still be there, but only staff have the ability to actually select the approved section. That's how we have to move them from the unapproved section to the approved one. If you try to post a character in the approved section, you should get an error message.

 

Also, "Bat Ponies", if you're referring to what I believe you are, are just pegasi with enchanted armor. I remember that actually being mentioned by writers at one point or another, and they aren't an actual type of pony. Also, this armor would be restricted to members of the Lunar Guard.

it all looks awesome, but i have questions about technology level, ive always seen the show being at the technology level of the early 1900's with candles being used a lot and other old timey stuff, but automobiles do exist (super squeezy 6000(i think thats right)) and even in the mare-do-well episode we saw the use of electricity, cranes and dams, do you have plans to explain, i think this would  be an important thing to explain

So far the only thing we've seen power anything thing is magic. There was no production plant at the bottom of the dam. It looked to be purely built to allow civilization to exist. The cranes can be operated off of magic just as anything else that's been presented so far. We've seen the inside of pony homes numerous times, and we've not once seen an outlet, or a cord of any kind. Even in Talent Show with all the strobe lights, there are no cords and no outlets. So at the moment there's nothing to suggest that electricity actually exists in any other form than lightning at the moment.

 

The Super Squeezy 6000 is a very rare occurrence. we've seen 65 episodes, and it's the only time we've seen a self operated vehicle like that. (So rare I actually forgot it was self powered) It's highly illogical that a pony would able to come in contact with something similar, and let alone afford it if they did.

Finished my OC for the Equestrian World! Think it looks good, though she is a Lawful Evil character and she blackmails, i'll make sure she won't blackmail in the roleplay...often.

I will begin looking at those shortly. That being said, the backstory bug should be fixed. All characters that were posted last night before this issue was fixed will need to go and add their back stories to their characters. Characters will not be reviewed until a backstory is added.
