As the Title says I wanted to know what you oppinion on Bronies was before you got hooked on the show.

If it was positive or negative etc.

Well I didn't know much about the fandom nor did I have a real oppinion it was just there.

What about you?

I didn't really mind. I thought, "Oh, these people enjoy a show like this?, well, whatever they like is their business and their business alone."

Just like any annoyingly vocal fanbase out there. Thought fairly neutral, and pretty much avoided if possible. I saw that most bronies seemed to not know what the hell they were talking about and came across as snooty and contrived, most of the time.

I was neutral. I was on a pokemon forum at the time and I figured that I had no right to judge, since pokemon at my age was seen as a bit weird too (althought I'm find that a lot more people still like it than I thought).

i was fairly anti brony, the people that i hung around with all had the same mind set, anyone who would do something like watch MLP was kinda weird and stupid, this went on for quite a while until i started to hang around different people, it is almost ironic that i only became a brony after i had matured

The first time I ever found out about the "bronies" was at an anime convention. A friend and I went to a pony panel to kill some time. I had no clue what it was, so when we go there to see 40 year old dudes talking about ponies I have to say I was a little shocked. I thought they were making fun of it at first. Once I knew they were serious I was like "Huh. Ponies. That's cool, I didn't know that was in at the moment. I should go check it out."

I didn't think of them at all, I heard the word didn't care much to look into it and ignored it. I would have never watched the show on my own because none of my friends liked the show, and the look of the show wasn't compelling me to watch it. The only reason I watched it is because I watched the mov series first.

In the very beginning, I knew there were fans, but I didn't know about their stigma until I went a little further into the episodes of Season 1. At first I found I pretty odd, but now, it's not shocking at all. No aspect to the fandom really phases me anymore. (Yes, that includes R34 and "clop," come on now, every fandom has their more deviant fans.) Besides, I can't really judge them now that I'm one of them. Most of the bronies I've seen are decent people, but as always, a few bad apples ruin the bunch. Fortunately, I didn't let that bother me.

When I first found out about this show, I thought it was about the dumbest thing I ever heard of. My best friend sent me a text saying that he had something to tell me one day and when I asked what it was he wouldn't tell me. After much persuasion he finally sent me a text that said 10 seconds flat. I immediately typed it into google, despite his protests, and was appalled to see a YouTube video with a cartoon pony. For a long time I did not understand why he liked a show targeted to five year old girls but eventually I met a girl who got me into the series. Now I really like it and we watch it together. <3

I thought negative of them, but not as extreme as some other anti-bronies. I thought they were weird people liking a "girly" show and I didn't understand. When I became more open-minded, I watched MLP:FiM and liked it, and I learned to not judge a book by its cover.

First glance, I thought bronies were a bit weird but I kept my opinion to myself. Then I met the haters on youtube that made me reform my opinion to stand on neutral ground. I thought both sides were nuts, it's a freaking TV show! The fans are way out of the demographic, but they should have every right to watch what they want was my reasoning.

Then I decided to test the show myself to understand how the show has a massive following as a neutral party. That plan... kind of blew up... as you can see since I'm here typing about it.

I had no idea what the hell it was.

All I knew about was the image of Rainbow Dash, it had me thinking that it was called "The Rainbow Dash Show."

A while after I first saw images of it on a different forum, a friend had forgotten to log out of his youtube on my computer when he left my place, so to be a troll, I thought up the most girly thing I could, and that happened to be.... ponies.

I searched up simply the word ponies and instantly added the first result to his favorites list.

Then I watched what I had added.

It was good. I liked it.

So I watched the show, and the rest, as they say, is history.

I thought they were an "interesting" bunch. I always thought "I wonder why all these guys like a show for little girls", I mean it is kinda odd. I didn't think badly about them or anything, I was just really curious (but not curious enough to watch the show myself until much, much later and even then it was a spur of the moment decision).

Before hand I was a massive anti-brony, talked shit about Bronies I knew in real life. I made fun of them, when I went on the internet I'd always hate on them when the topic became present but really in truth I look back and I never really meant anything I said. I was just afraid of change, so about a year later I watch a Brony documentary thing then I try the show out and I said out loud, "This is cute."

Now my life is awesome! I'm jogging 2 miles each day, working out, being nice with my family and friends. I'm no longer a basement dweller now (Which is quite the opposite of what someone would think this would do)

The first time I saw a brony was in my own school. I didn't know what it was really, so I had no way of judging it. But, I always saw people with these pony avatars on the Internet, and my curiosity got the best of me. I went up to one and asked what show his avatar was from, and after a long paragraph of telling me what it was about, I did some research. After that, my first thought on the whole thing was: "They're pretty cool! Wonder what the show is like..."

You can imagine how I became a brony from there. ;)

I was one of those rare guys who didn't know about the brony fandom beforehand. After learning about the show, I looked at MLP:FIM's wikipedia page and saw that it had good reviews and had gained a cult following. I knew very little about the community, and had no idea the fandom was of epic proportions. I learned a lot more about the brony community after I watched all the episodes at the time, and then began exploring all the fan works out there. After learning what the brony community was all about, I realized that I loved these people. Bronies are really nice, both online and in real life. I'm sure that even if I had a good idea on bronies before I watched the show, I would have thought that they were awesome. I would definitely have taken the time to meet some and talk to them instead of judging them right off the bat.

I didn't think much of an MLP thread on a cartoon forum I used to frequent. People watched all kinds of shows, so MLP didn't seem that strange. I guess I wondered what people saw in it. Then I saw an MLP thread on a different forum. I got curious because so many people were recommending it. I never had any negative opinions of them. The fandom was in its infancy when I started watching, so it didn't have that much of a bad rep yet. I was pretty neutral until I joined in.

I'd never heard of them. I never even knew there was a new generation of MLP (even though I was probably going to see it somewhere on the Internet sooner or later), since My Little Ponies were a childhood memory; I remember playing with the fat G3/2 ones, but that's all I know. No Lauren Faust, no Bronies, no generations... Nothing.

But then there was the Internet. After my cousin introduced me to the show, (I LOVED IT) I gradually began to explore the Brony community. At first, I was pretty shocked and skeptical about the whole thing. I thought I was crazy, a 14 years old girl, watching MLP, but older guys?

However, I never hated in them. What's the point in that? Let them do their thing.... Especially if you become one of them yourself. It was fun to discover the different parts of the fandom (well, most of the parts) and meet new people who were just like you!

Honestly I was neutral towards them. I was aware of the fandom (which was in its relative infancy at the time) and that apparently MLP was coming back and that was that. I didn't see any reason to judge them because it really seemed like no big deal to me.

Then I saw some hater on a forum for an anime talking nasty about MLP fans, and there were bronies on that forum making their points, and I really found the hate quite distasteful. So I came to their defence as a neutral third party, on the grounds that people should be able to like what they want.

As a fan of cartoons, anime, and Pokémon, I knew what it felt like to be hated on, so I understood their plight.

After a while, curiosity got the better of me, and here I am.

I've lived an open-minded life, and as to seeing men watching My Little Pony, I simply viewed it as something normal. After all, there has to be a reason for someone to like something, especially if so many people like it.

I never really felt that they were, as some put it [homosexual] or [pedophiles], simply because I despise prejiduce such as that.

What people enjoy is up to them, I, neither anyone else, has the right or the responsibility to make someone like, or dislike something.

I will admit that I was confused what the hype was about before I actually watched the show, but I never actually had any bias toward any brony nor did I participate in the nonsense the haters spread around the internet. I will say that I am glad I took that chance and watched the show, and I love the community that came with it. It may not be perfect ( but what community is ) it still is the nicest one I've had the pleasure to partake in. And I hope it remains this way because I have saw to many great communities degrade in to nothing but trolls and haters that criticise anything new. I really hope that does not become the fate of this great community.

I didn't have a real problem with them as I knew how it was like to be ostracized. I was still an LGBT and still had homophobia all around me, actually more than now. I didn't watch it until I did because I thought it was immature. I was right, but that actuallyended up getting me hooked on it.

I was also one of those that didn't know about the Brony fandom beforehand. But I've always had an open mind

I also come from the furry fandom. I know quite a few furs that despise ponies and have a lot of hate towards it, saying it's a scourge on the furry fandom and that it should just die. They're two different fandoms! Even if artwork of MLP is posted on Furry sites such as Furaffinity...they're still two different fandoms...it's just the people posting the art just also happen to be Brony artists.

I was indifferent at the time. But I soon started taking notice of more and more MLP stuff being uploaded to furry art sites...so I went to yourtube and watched a couple episodes, I was instantly hooked.

The sad part is that I actually lost furry "Friends" because I liked MLP. It was stupid.

IN a sense I've become more of a brony than a furry. Any furry site I'm on, I've got Pony avatars and even pony usernames on some. But I'm also a moderator on a couple forums, so I've stayed being furry on those ones for the most part.
