Leavinh 313 August 7, 2013 Share August 7, 2013 I would bring her an encyclopedia set or maybe even a book on human anatomy. She only really got a surface level view of "our world" and I think she would really enjoy learning about human history.
SBaby 660 August 7, 2013 Share August 7, 2013 That's easy. I'd bring my D&D books. She seems like the type who would enjoy table-top RPGs. Or at the very least, it would be entertaining seeing ponies playing D&D. 1 A Winner Is You!!!
Golurk 468 August 7, 2013 Share August 7, 2013 Several immediately come to mind. The Narnia series, for one. One of my personal favorite fictional works, I imagine she'd find them interesting as well. Assuming I'd be able to explain anything she'd be confused about, I'd also show her my personal favorite book, Carl Sagan's "Contact." An awesome read, assuming one can understand the base concepts. And lastly, and perhaps most oddly, Gray's Anatomy. A truly extensive look into how the human body works, I think she'd find it more than fascinating. 4 Indeed. decoherence 183 August 7, 2013 Share August 7, 2013 (edited) Oooooooh. I would want to know what Twi thinks of Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie. Also, I think she'd be in to sci-fi. So Uplift Wars, Ender's Game, 2001. The classics. I would also take all of Brian Greene's books, because I want to know if Twi thinks the infinite set 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ... or the infinite set 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, ... are larger. ADD: Oh yeah -- I'd definitely bring FoE and maybe Project Horizons... they'd probably creep the hell out of her but maybe it'd be like Pony Dean Koontz or Pony Clive Barker? akalink 163 August 7, 2013 Share August 7, 2013 There are a couple books I would bring Twilight. First would be "Men without Chests", next would be "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" both of those by C.S Lewis. "Profiles in Courage" by J.F Kennedy. The complete works of Shakespeare. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and the Boredom of Haruhi Suzumiya (Boredom is my favorite in the series). Farewell to Manazar, and the Bible (honestly its the most influential text in the history of the world it should be given to her).
~StatesTheOblivious~ 1,795 August 7, 2013 Share August 7, 2013 - Everything Immanuel Kant ever wrote. You can disagree with him, but I always found his basic approaches to be quite useful. - "His Dark Materials". Just because it's my favorite piece of fantasy literature. - The collected works of Shakespeare. That passion... - The collected works of Friedrich Schiller. Long live enlightment! - The collected works of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Gotta love Faust. - And a few things Edgar Allan Poe wrote. - Oh, not to forget my encyclopedia, of course. Smarts 1,623 August 7, 2013 Share August 7, 2013 I would introduce Twilight Sparkle to the world of Dr. Seuss. I'd watch as she would try to wrap her brain around such books as Horton Hears A Who, The Cat In The Hat, Green Eggs And Ham, and many more. It would blow her mind. 6 IF is best girl. Nomadic 210 August 7, 2013 Share August 7, 2013 Probably off the top of my head, some Science-fiction/fantasy, preferably something like the Hyperion Cantos by Dan Simmons On a Pale Horse by Piers Anthony Those are two of my favourite books mind you and I recommend them to pretty much everyone, lol. Otherwise, it would be stuff like On the Origin of Species by Charles Darwin A collection of encyclopaedias Some classic Philosophy texts etc. 1 OC Info: Monkshood, the Apothecary, Denarius, the Gambler (In Progress)

ChristophR 20 August 7, 2013 Share August 7, 2013 I would show her some books about astronomy and animals. And when she needs a break from her studies, I think the Harry Potter books mentioned earlier are a good idea. And maybe I would bring the bible. I am sure Twilight would love to know about our religions, so I think other books like the koran aren't that bad as well. 1 Christoph: http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/christoph-r4126 Jaqueline: http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/jaqueline-r4241 Equestria World - Spike: http://mlpforums.com/page/eqw-characters/_/approved/approved-cast-characters/spike-r66

SCS 7,537 August 7, 2013 Share August 7, 2013 In terms of fiction books, I would show her the Harry Potter series and the Redwall series. In terms of non-fiction books, I would show her a few: Being and Time by Martin Heidegger Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge Ultimate Journey by Robert Monroe Calculus, 4th edition by Michael Spivak I've only read one of those books so far: Ultimate Journey by Robert Monroe. However, the other three sound fascinating based on what I have heard of them so far, and I plan to read them soon. Other than that, I'd just bring her to a library so she could find any other book she wanted to read.

Sky Warden 2,243 August 7, 2013 Share August 7, 2013 (edited) I will bring Al-Quran, the Bible, the Tipitaka, and Vedas. Joking aside, some history books. I have some good titles discussing the history of humankind from the era of Shang Dynasty and the present time, but blast it, I can't afford them all. For fantasy books, well, the Lords of the Ring, Harry Potter, and Inheritance series. It will be useless to bring my programming books there, since it seems like there's no computer in Equestria, but I will bring science though. Physic, electricity, and human magic tricks. No, those first four books I mentioned aren't fantasy books. They're pieces of literature about philosophy written with beautiful, cultural and rich figurative languages. OOH The Shining!! That'll be an interesting read for Twi and It Wait THE GREEN MILE? That's a book?! *gags* I saw the movie and that was enough, sure it was good but it would probably make Twi cry and probably scar her for life when she learns of the torture that criminals once had to suffer. The Green Mile is a spectacular book, very similar to the movie. Stephen King actually wrote the screenplay for the movie, so it feels very much like, well, reading the movie. ^^ TGM is actually one of my favorite Stephen King books of all time, although my absolute favorite must go to either Misery or Rose Madder. Both deal less with the supernatural and more with just...people. (Although Rose Madder goes weird at the end, but meh, it's Stephen King, you come to expect that.) Salem's Lot was fantastic, too. I think she'd really like magical/romance books, which is why I'd show her obvious stuff, like Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, but she couldn't miss little gems like the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy, or the Jim Butcher novels. I think she'd adore all of them. ^^ Zatiko Cliff Chaser Sprocket Peppery Mint Tell Me What You Think Of Me
PoisonClaw 8,166 August 7, 2013 Share August 7, 2013 I have no doubt that Twilight would be interested in the depiction of magic from the Harry Potter series, maybe even going as far as to try and replicate some of the spells if they don't already exist in Equestria. Journey to the Center of the Earth would be a good one too, but I'd also make sure to bring along both World War Z and The Zombie Survival Guide and tell her both are accurate historical depictions just to see if she buys it. On the off chance she believes me, I'd then wait and see how long it takes before she realizes her mistake, or until I can't hold back my laughter any longer and she clues in on the fact that I tricked her, which ever comes first really. 2 MLPForums "Self-Proclaimed" Kamen Rider NutNow, count up your sins!I do Traditional commissions, by the way! Shanks 10,816 August 7, 2013 Share August 7, 2013 I think a better question would be which books wouldn't you show Twilight? She would be pretty eager to read almost anything you would possibly bring especially because she would probably want to learn as much as she can about humans. Fluttershutter 2,540 August 8, 2013 Share August 8, 2013 I wonder what the status of sci-fi is in equestria. I'd bring her Verne and Welles to start. That seem close to their level of technology. Also Lovecraft for the heck of it.
Galen 1,354 August 8, 2013 Share August 8, 2013 I would introduce Twilight Sparkle to the world of Dr. Seuss. I'd watch as she would try to wrap her brain around such books as Horton Hears A Who, The Cat In The Hat, Green Eggs And Ham, and many more. It would blow her mind. What he said. But on a more serious note, other books I would show her are all the Tolkien books (particularly considering some of the MLP lore is inspired by Tolkien's work from what I hear, so it'd be interesting to hear Twilight's own thoughts), the Tao Te Ching, Interview With The Vampire and MAYBE the Song of Ice and Fire saga if she can handle all the darkness and the grittiness of a story about people who consistently resort to their lowest instincts to move along.
