My opinion on Luna is the same as my opinion on Celestia, they both have very loyal fanbases while others say that Luna deserves more love and the Celestia fans say that Celestia deserves more love. For one, I really do adore Luna. So, opinion inbound.

she has a very big fanbase. and well, i'm part of that fanbase. but i do think that she needs to stay a background character.

she has the perfect personality for a background character, if they give her more screentime now i don't think it's gonna go well.

I didn't really think anything of her except that she's pretty cool, but I've realised that she's awesome! 
I love the fanon personality she's been given. Like, sort of lonely, misunderstood, in the shadow of her sister etc, and I love the memes that are related to her as well. 

She's an awesome character, and I really do hope she has much more screentime in season 4, and that her character is explored a little more. 
Oh, and in my opinion, she's the most beautiful pony.

I think she is one of the more "unique" personalities in the series, and should stay as an half bacround a bit more to the sentre sometimes.

Well, those twenty two minutes of "Luna Eclipsed" made her quite likeable, relatable. Her awkwardness was something that I really liked, a good contrast to her sister. I prefer her to Celestia.

 

It is a shame that Luna is reduced to a bland plot device and minor secondary (or even background) character in other episodes. Like in "A Canterlot Wedding". Or even in Equestria Girls. She seems to just be in there to be in there. No further charactarization and actions contradictory to her importance, status and person. She deserves more and better used screentime.

 

Hoping for a good episode in season four because I want a reason to like her even more

Im my opinion Luna is the best pony. She may be a secondary character, but that's okay! She has an awesome design, personality, and etc. I hope she gets an ep in S4.

my opinion on luna is that she is the best pony and my favorite, i do think she is pretty and if she went back on the moon i would follow her mostly because i love the moon, no she shouldn't be a background pony

I like her a lot! I also believe that she should get a bit more screen time along with Celestia. I would really love to see an episode with the two in say, their daily life and stuff. Just something to make me like them even more.

I didn't care for Luna until Luna Eclipsed and became a big fan after Sleepless in Ponyville. I think she has a great design and would like to see more of her intervening in pony's dreams or just in the dreamworld itself. Still, I do feel a little is a lot when it comes to Luna, so if she remained in the background or had small parts like in SiP, it would maintain her mystique.

Sadly, both of these are true. A lot of people are Luna fans simply "Because Luna!" Personally, I really loved her quirks that she showed during Luna Eclipsed, those being the Royal Canterlot Voice and her general awkward adorkableness.

I understand that some people believe that Luna stole the show from Scootaloo in Sleepless in Ponyville, which is kind of true. A lot of people just wanted the Scootalove, but I liked Luna's appearance as well. Celestia helps her subjects in need by being a total badass and going into cliche anime energy blast standoff mode. Luna helps by giving her subjects the confidence to face their greatest fears - a more subtle touch, focused on helping her subjects help themselves over outright protecting them. I like this about her.

 

I also like her fanon interpretations. Look at my avatar. Now look at my signature. I think you can see where this is going.

 

I also found the thought of "Lusty Luna"  greatly amusing when Molly and Luna switched places for a day.

When it comes to the Royal Princesses, Luna is second on my favorite list, behind Celestia and ahead of Cadance. (Twilight doesn't get a mention yet because it's too early to tell.)

 

However, she's currently the best written princess and deserves the massive fanbase she has. Claiming otherwise speaks of naïvety. Besides her awesome color scheme and design, she is also the most relatable and sympathetic. In Luna Eclipsed, she showed up as an alicorn still trying to adjust to current Equestrian society and couldn't do it, especially with Nightmare Night making everyone run amok and the mentioning of Nightmare Moon getting her more and more upset. Her social awkwardness and archaic language were funny, realistic, and very human.

 

Following the episode, she still feels she has to prove herself, hence her want to involve herself into the protection of The Crystal Empire. Nonetheless, she still feels much more confident in not only herself, but also expectations for mutual trust. Involving herself in Scootaloo's nightmares in Sleepless in Ponyville are usually uncharted territories because of how personal they tend to be, but Scootaloo trusted her, and she trusted Scootaloo back.

 

In conclusion, she may not be my most favorite alicorn princess, but I still love her and she's factually best princess at this point.

I really like Princess Luna. I don't think she is best pony, but I do think she's the best princess.

 

I began to really like Luna when I first watched Luna Eclipsed. This is because Luna got development! It was great to watch her throughout the episode - we got to learn a lot about her. Also, I find Luna to be a bit relatable as well; pretty much everyone can relate at not being able to fit in at one point in their lives.

 

Luna's role in Sleepless in Ponyville was great too. If Luna hadn't intercepted Scootaloo's dream, there's a chance that Scootaloo may not have confessed to Rainbow Dash. I think it's so cool that Luna can enter dreams!

 

Finally, her color scheme is just awesome in my opinion

I disagree that she is underrated in anyway by the very fact of her very large fanbase. Frustratingly it is Princess Celestia that is extremely underrated and misrepresented.

 

Princess Luna is my favorite princess, but because of how the fans have acted when it comes to Princess Celestia and Princess Luna... well I find myself defending Princess Celestia far more often.

I'm more of a night owl, I'm much more creative and think more during night time. And I really like astronomy as well, so Luna and I have a couple of things in common  . Basically, I identify with her more than with Celestia.

Personally, I feel that a lot of people branded Luna as so underrated that she has become overrated in the process. Sure she needs more episodes, but so does Princess Celestia. They should be getting equal love from the fandom. Personally, I would love an episode that deals with their history. The S4 sneak peek, hopefully, was a preview of that notion at work.

I like Luna because she is an interesting mix of powerful yet vulnerable, she as the princess of the night is one the most powerful figures in Equestria. Yet at the same time she has struggled to fit in and reintegrate into modern mainstream society after being gone for 1000 years and trying to regain the trust of most people who hate and fear her. This and her redemption story makes her a very interesting and relatable character to alot of people including yours truly. I like Celestia as well but prefer Luna because we get to see her as herself more often than Celestia where with Celestia we see her mainly in her roles as mentor and ruler. I would like to see more of both of them particularly both of them together as I think that is where they both have the most potential as characters.

Luna is amazing and a great princess pony.

 

As Celestia's sister, she earns the respect just as much as her sister.

 

She was a villain in season 1, and friendly like in season 2.
