Why can't they have a baby?

So I was just wondering why people are so against the idea of Cadence and Shining Armor having a baby?

 

I mean that the next step after getting married. Is having a kid and starting a family. Not to mention I feel like Cadence is the type of pony who would want a baby. Seeing as she babysat Twilight and who know's who else when she was young. It just seem like something she would want.

 

Now I can think of one reason why people are against the idea and that just because the toy does not look right to anyone.

 

First off, you do all know that if they have a kid it won't be the same age as the CMC, right? NO, it well be a baby. They aren't just going to put in a 7 or 8 year old. It well be a baby. So it well look like Pound Cake and Pumpkin Cake.

 

Also as my own personal reason for liking it, the idea of someone saying the first Alicorn baby born in a thousand years, just sounds really cool to me.

 

So if some people can tell me why you don't like the idea of them having a baby, tell me?

Well I just LOVE the idea of Cadence and Shining Armor having a foal. I think it would be the cutest thing ever.

 

If it's handled right... And I have no reason to doubt that it would be.

I think they will eventually have a baby, a royal baby would sell a lot of toys and Hasbro knows this so it is not a matter of if but when. Besides we all know what Cadence and Shining Armor have been up to offscreen.

I actually have to agree, i really don't think i'd mind it.

 

I dunno if i'm begging for it to happen, but i certainly wouldn't mind it.

Although i do think that the Foal pony design needs some work in the eyes, i think they should be more regular pony eye like, just my thoughts.

 

But i agree, Cadence looks like the baby having type, i mean they don't even need to have her get pregnant they can just do like the cakes, i dunno if pregnancy would pass in a kids show anyways.

 

But i honestly wouldn't mind it at all.

 

Now whether it'd be an Alicorn idk, it would certainly prove to settle if alicorns can be born or created so it'd be helpful for the lore i think.

 

I actually don't mind it though, maybe i'm just kinda lenient and easy to please though. 

Foals are actually kinda cute, besides their eyes. Everything else is pretty cute though .

Where did you hear the criticism of the couple having a filly/colt? I don't see why not; both characters rarely appear on the show, so even if it turned out they had a newborn filly, the next the we would see them she would be a little more older: I would say Dashie's age (from the fanfic) would be a good age if she had a second appearance twenty episodes later.

That said, I can get behind it. I'd be quite fine if Cadence and Shining Armor had a baby. I don't believe it would ruin anything. In fact it might make for an interesting sub-plot, or something.

Well the Skyla toy that is selling say's that it's Shining Armors and Cadences baby. So it kinda just felt like hint that this character would show up sometime in the show. Kinda like the Sunset Summers toy they were selling.

 

Also they made a lot of appearances in season 3 and with a baby maybe they would show up more. And even if they don't show up a lot in episode I highly doubt they baby would age that fast in the show.

It would be an interesting concept, if Twilight became an Aunt and Princess Candace has a baby with Shining Armour. I think it would make a fine addition to the show. Mind you, it might not be an Alicorn, if you talk Mrs Cake and Mr Carrot Cake having a Unicorn and a Pegasus even though they are both Earth Ponies.

 

Another Alicorn would make a good addition in my opinion though

Exactly where are you hearing this criticism? Because from what I've read in this thread people seem rather open to the idea. I myself see no reason why anyone would have objections to this, like you said it's the next logical step after getting married; raising a child together.

Well in this topic everyone seems to be fine with the idea of Cadence and Shining Armor having a baby. But in the characters that you don't want to see in season 4, a lot put down Skyla as one they don't want to see. There are a bunch of other topics about Skyla and most people just don't like the way she looks. Mostly due to the toy she has.

 

So there are people who don't like the idea, but they have yet to put why they don't want to see her in this topic.

I wouldn't mind seeing something like this happening. In fact, I'd like to see it happen altho I'm not rearing for it. It's just something I'd welcome, really. I think it'll be interesting to see how everyone reacts to the idea, especially Twilight since she'll be the aunt. Also, I think mini Cadence/Shining Armor would have brilliant interactiosn with Pound Cake and Pumpkin Cake, adding one extra foal/filly for Pinkie Pie to foalsit and play with. THAT's gonna be so much fun that I would do anything not to miss it

The reaction against Skyla has multiple sources, as far as I can tell.

 

1) The vector on the toy packaging is a recolor Sweetie Bell with wings stuck on, indicating that not much thought was put into it.

2) There's a photoshopped version of the Skyla packaging running around proclaiming it to be Twilight and Blueblood's child, and some bronies think this is the real one.

3) A lot of bronies are still hung up over Cadance and/or Shining Armor even existing, and are upset at the amount of screen-time they get already. Add a baby...

4) It's an alicorn baby. Some are concerned that this will turn into a version of My Little Pony: The Princess Promenade.

 

Not to say that any of these things are *reasonable* fears, but that's the point of paranoia; it ain't reasonable.

 

Oh, and I think Skyla is a weird name, given the normal naming conventions used by the ponies. Unless that's a shorted version of Skylark or something similar.

I won't see any reason why they can't.  Though it may be in season 4 or if there is a season 5 maybe not till then when the baby appears if one ever does, or if there is more then one.  After all the Cakes were married before the show started and didnt' have their babies till season 2.  I also think like with the cakes they won't mention that Princess Cadence & Shining Armor are expecting, it'll likey be an episode devoted to that.  & the show producers, and maybe hasbro, have to think if they want to make it canon that alicorns can be born and not a thing that ponies have to aspire to become.  Also they may have just one or maybe more then one like the cakes did.

I think that it would be wonderfull if they had a baby, it would make for a great episode.. and if they had a baby then maybe that would ensure a season 5 (I don't know if they allready have said a season 5)

 

and I guess twigliht would be happy to take the foal-sitting job a try with the "Sunshine, sunshine, ladybugs awake. Clap your hooves and do a little shake!" I guess that would make cadens happy

Also from Hasbro's standpoint, as someone said that could mean new toys, maybe a play set like the royal family box set thing also.
