Do you think Hasbro would introduce another pony race before MLP:FiM ends?

As the title states, do you think it would be possible that Hasbro might have another idea to introduce another pony race, or possible more before the show's finale? They already had Unicorns, earth ponies, Pegasus, and Alicorns in Seasons 1-3, and introduced Crystal Ponies in Season 3.

 

I think they could add another race, predicting that the show will still be showing 2-4 new upcoming seasons. The new race would have to be fleshed out more (unlike the Crystal ponies' background) if Hasbro decided to do a episode focusing on the new pony race.

 

Well, that's my opinion about it. What do you guys think?

It wouldn't hurt to. Heck, I bet we'll all have a new favorite pony other than Dashie if they ever do!

If they do it would either be Bat-Ponies or the Sea-Ponies. Now I my only issue with both of these races is that Hasbro should really come up with a better name for the races, despite Sea-Pony being what they were called in Series 1. I have no idea what to call the bat ponies, but for the Sea-Ponies I vote Kelpie. A kelpie is a supernatural water horse from Celtic folklore so I think it would probably fit better with the overall naming structure of the show.

Hey, sorry if this a little out there, but if my mythology isn't off wouldn't you be proposing the MLP equivalent to a Qilin, or Kirin if you want to use the Japanese name. If so awesome that would be an idea I could get behind. As long as they don't bring out Centaurs as the next pony race everything will be all good.

I agree with you completely, although I guess, and this is my evil side talking, I know it's never going to happen, but a race of undead/skeletal ponies would be pretty cool. Never gonna happen though

They have not had much done on them either, they only show up when Luna is around

You know, make them with six legs, pony legs, or four human legs and two pony legs, or crawling human with pony neck, or three either human and pony legs on both sides, or a standing human with pony head, or we can make them have four ponies legs for the bottom half of the body and EqG hands and head for the other half.

 

If that can't happen, I guess sea ponies or snake ponies will be good enough, even though nowhere near as good as centaur pony.

I hope that they introduce snake ponies and bat ponies. I've seen bat ponies in the show but, they didn't go in-depth on how bat ponies are born. As for snake ponies, I really do want to see them we all know that Chigens would want to see them.

Using previous generations of MLP as a guide, Hasbro does tend to add 'alternate' breeds on a semi-regular basis to the toy lines. Whether they appear in the show or not is... less predictable. It's only relatively recently that Hasbro has started to make toys of characters that were original to the show first. This is a pretty radical change to their process so it's hard to predict where this is going to go.

 

In prior generations they had seaponies, and flutterponies. And seaponies have been brought forward into G4 with one of the books, so having them in-show or in the toy lines wouldn't be that big of a leap. Flutterponies... is a bit more of a thematic stretch unless we start exploring Equestria more and find areas that are a bit more mythical, like maybe the 'other side' of the Everfree Forest or something.

 

Now that thestrals (apparently the name used in-script for the batponies), have been confirmed as personal headcannon for M.A. Larson as well as Lauren Faust, I'd be curious to see if Hasbro follows this up with toys. They won't be able to call them thestrals, of course, because J.K. Rowling owns that version of the name. This has been talked about before on this forum, and most posters seem to think Hasbro won't make these toys because the primary market (little girls) won't want something as dark or 'scary' as thestrals. To which I respond that those people don't actually know many little girls, do they? They like dark and scary stuff just as much as boys, they just don't get much product aimed at them with those themes because *parents* have weird hangups about little girls.

Most likely, yes, but chances are it might not go into so much depth with the bat ponies or introduce the sea ponies. 

 

Strange how we don't see bat mares, only stallions. Same with normal Equestrian guards.

 

Also confirmed: Sea ponies's city is called Aquastria, though I prefer the name Aqua. Reminds of Bioshock's Rapture.

Considering Twilight is now going to have to take responsibility as a ruler of Equestria, I figure S4 is going to be a great opportunity to introduce new pony races.  I'd been expecting seaponies for a while, but I also like the idea of bat ponies.  They seem very cool.

I think they would. They did with the Crystal ponies too and also, new pony race meand new toys and new toys mean more money.

Probably Bat ponies or maybe Sea ponies, since they once appeared at previous generations too.

Well Crystal Ponies exist now which are basically offshoots of Earth Ponies, and recently Bat Ponies were said to be their own race and they're offshoots of Pegasi, and then we have changelings who are like alicorns. Now we just need an offshoot of unicorns and we'd be good I think.
