Update: After doing 3 presentations on homosexuality and LGBT issues this week, I felt they went rather well. I wish I could have got more of what I wanted to say in the last one, but overall, I think I helped influence people in favor of our cause.

PS And yes, it made many people angry.

Back when I was dating a bunch, I started seeing a girl. I hadn't told anyone my preferances, because I figured it didn't matter. Previously I had only brought home guys. Unfortunately, when I did mention I had a date with a girl, my aunts measure of me rose a lot. The odd thing about that is that I am female. I was already pro be attracted to whomever or whatever you want, but after seeing how her approval of me rose because I was attracted to both men and women, it made me sad, as well as more determined to not judge others by what they like.

Thought I'd keep up with this and say that I came out to everyone I know on facebook as Queer and Gender Queer.

I was almost in tears, everyone was very supportive of me (Even my cousin's who...well...we've had some history...but we're all starting to get along now)

I want to be able to share the support and say that if anyone here ever wants to chat with someone about sexuality and or Gender (Or anything else you feel like talking about), shoot me a PM e9FkmL5.png

Lots of love to you all wub.png

As a bisexual fifteen year old girl I don't face many problems about my sexuality. but I know that if certain things dont change soon I will face challenges and so will all of the lgbt community, i have done my best to spread the word and to support as much as I can my school actually has a gsa (gay straight alliance) but it pains me because our president doesn't do anything we've cancelled three meetings so far this year alone, shes broken every promise she's made I'm really glad shes a senior cuz next year Im going to want to be [resident so I can actually get things done.

I personally believe that you cannot fight attraction. It's such an incredibly strong force, that it's just silly to try and stop it. Especially sexual and emotional attraction.

The way I see it, love is love, regardless of what bits you've got.

And to those who try and prevent true love from happening between people of the same sex, please go away. Just let people be, man. It's their lives, not yours. I'm talking to you, Westboro Baptist Cult, and all you other homophobes. You people disgust me, and the world would be much better off without you.

Heh. Well, whatever the case, I was being truthful. As a youth, my prejudices were based on my disgust at the thought of two men going at it, but now that I'm a more mature human being, I can ask myself the question: Who the hell's it really hurting?

Can't bisexual people like transgendered people though? I mean if they go all the way in becoming the gender in body as they also are in mind, they are that gender, so even open minded straight people might be okay with that right? or?

Absolutely.

Bisexuality is vague compared to a lot of other sexualities and a little less specific. Some bisexuals find both sex's equally attractive, but aren't attracted to transgendered people, whilst others do. But even those who are attracted to transgendered people, may or may not have a preference to one gender or sex over the other. Similarly with bisexuals who aren't attracted to transgendered people.

A lot of people tend to talk about how pansexuals are attracted to tansgendered people when they're asked about what pansexuality means, and whilst that's true, I don't think it's what really defines pansexuality and makes it different.

The thing that makes pansexuals feel separate to bisexuals is that they're gender blind, whilst bisexuals aren't, even bisexuals who are attracted to all equally consider or think about gender on some level.

Just because I think sexuality labels are largely pointless doesn't mean I don't give them any thought.

PS And yes, it made many people angry.

And yeah, that was exactly what I was trying to get at while trying to explain pansexuality. Unfortunately, people clung to the part about transgendered people. What I meant was that all pansexuals are probably open to dating a transgendered person because they only care about who you are, not what you are, while only some bisexuals would be open to that. Of course, some straight and gay people are open to dating trans people too. smile.png

Uhm... does LGBT cover every other sexuality except straight or those are only 4 which it covers, cause I saw some people attaching pansexuals to it, so I'm confused. Does it cover every other sexuality than straight?

Also:

Yay LGBT!

Yay Straights!

Yay Nice people!

When people say LGBT, they usually are referring to just about everyone who is not straight or cisgender. Some people add other letters or say LGBTQ, with the queer basically meaning "everything else."

Oh ok, I kinda get it. Are asexuals in LGBT too?

Also I've got to say that I admire you that you had guts to stand your ground against the whole school. If all people were like you this world wouldn't need to be a better place :)

Hey I'm glad this thread exists! Great posts, some quite inspiring. I come from a very strict, religious family which is just fine...I love my parents and couldn't have had a better childhood. My parents know I'm bisexual but we just don't really talk about it much. The mutual respect is still there and that's all that matters to me...but I have been flying my "bi-flag" high online lately (see avatar lol) as I am just recently becoming more accepting of who I am and talking about it with others in the LGBT community is a new and refreshing thing for me...considering how I was raised. Anyway...great thread! Yet another reason to love the poniverse!! <3

Yes, asexuals are indeed part of the LGBT community. Also, thanks a lot. I'm glad if I can help people rethink their views to put kindness and compassion above hate and dogma.

Wow, I didn't even know there was a bisexual flag or anything. Though I do like to put forward arguments in support of

LGBT people against homophobes and whatnot, I myself have never really been involved in any pride efforts.

Apparently there's also an intersex pride flag, which looks kinda sorta similar to the trans flag:

Wow. Am I the only one who finds it unfair that gays get the rainbow flag? I want a rainbow flag. I'm sure we all want the rainbow flag. It's friggin awesome! Also, the heterosexual flag is pretty poorly made. It's boring. We need better flags.

@Hansel, could you kindly not share LGBT-phobic joke material in this thread? Gay people don't just "turn that way" to get divorces and transgendered people don't "want to be a girl/boy to be pervy in their bathrooms", and it's not funny nor new nor original to imply such things.

My favorite is the genderqueer flag, and I'm genderqueer (agender) myself.

I think the pan flag is kinda lame looking, the yellow kills it for me (still better than the hetro flag though lol). The bi flag is alright I guess, but yea the genderqueer flag is the best looking IMO.

I'm gay myself and I totally think the "I want to experience divorce" thing is hilarious. xD

And some people who aren't actually gay/bi/trans would think this is funny, but I have a few trans and bi friends who thought that was the funniest thing ever. So no harm was done there, I don't think xD

I think the bi flag looks a little dull, but I though the rainbow was an all-encompassing flag for LGBT?

I don't think it was offensive, and I don't think the jokes were originally intended to be offensive either. Those pictures were probably made by an LGBT person.
