music Most beautiful music you've ever heard?

This song and pretty much any other song by Godspeed You! Black Emperor are extremely beautiful, Dead Flag Blues is my personal favorite song by them.

"We're trapped in the belly of this horrible machine and the machine is bleeding to death"

The song's lyrics are very nice too.

I've seen some people post more than one song so what the hey. Here's my personal favorite pop song ever, Wuthering Heights by the inimitable Kate Bush.

Also, kudos to the guy that mentioned Aphex Twin. Love him. I'd say my favorite piece of his is Nannou.

This is going to sound extremely weird, but oh well...I have three choices, and they're more or less because of their lyrics more than anything.

Exile Vilify - The National

Mad World - Gary Jules

Life Is Beautiful - Sixx A.M.

For some reason...my brain automatically links the words, "Beautiful", and "Melancholy" together.

O Magnum Mysterium by Morten Lauridsen and arranged by H. Robert Reynolds. Played it last year in concert band, it is very lyrical but gets intense near the end.

OMG, that piece. I played that my second semester playing bassoon, and it would always hurt my mouth so bad because I was still new to the instrument and that piece required a lot of stamina. lol.

Still, I do think it is beautiful. I eventually bought a recording of it in the original choral form to listen to on my MP3 devices. Still, I don't know... It's always been a depressing piece for me. That time where I played it was when my life became very depressing, and this piece would get stuck in my head and only make me feel worse... Lol. It's pretty, no doubt. It just has a sad background for me.

The intro music to F.E.A.R, just sets the overall mood for the game, and it's quite beautiful.

I think the most beautiful musical piece I have ever heard is one from Aviators's Aeterno album, "Find Me". It has a very catchy orchestral tune, and a very powerful atmosphere and arrangement, it's just...so astonishingly beautiful.

Recently I've been listening quite a bit to Richard Einhorn's Voices of Light. It was composed as a musical accompaniment to the classic silent film The Passion of Joan of Arc, but I actually like the music on its own far more than I like the actual film.

Here is my favorite piece from it.

The first one brings me to tears, and I just can't stop listening to it.  I mean not at all.  It's crazy.

The second one really makes Porter Robinson - Language (radio edit) come alive.

Very powerful song to me. Neal Morse has the voice of an angel  :yay:

Steven Wilson's "The Raven That Refused to Sing" is a sad but beautiful tale too. Highly recommend watching the whole video

A tie for me.

This one from Killer Tracks is quite the piece, perfect Eastern style to it:

And the King of Sorrow's theme from Klonoa 2

I've been really getting into Sufjan Stevens recently through his most loved album "Illinois". It has a strong, almost nostalgic baroque-pop vibe with some really great lyrics and singing to really give it a magical feeling while listening!

Here's a great example!
