CMC in G5?

I know its a long time away. But considering now My Little Pony has turned into a full on show of writers and directors. It makes sense to not just have the mane 6 on every generation. So would it make sense to have the grown-up CMC in G5?

It would make sense to have them grown up but, we would have to wait until they get their cutie marks currently. So, unless they get their cutie marks before then it could make some sense.

I think that would work well as a continuation of G4. It would be cool to see what becomes of the CMC later in their lives.  I would add some more characters though because after we had the mane 6 focusing on just 3 characters wouldn't feel right but I wouldn't be surprised if that was just me.

Hmm, from what I understand they make completely new named ponies and gen to gen tends to be quite different (apart from spike which I have seen numerous times).

 

I guess the concept might well be kept for future generations as its worked nicely (admittedly I don't have previous gen 4 knowledge good enough to make accurate predictions).

 

But like you said, It will be a LOOOONG time coming, especially with this gen doing so amazingly well !

Generation 5 will be a whole new continuity that will have little to nothing to do with Friendship is Magic.  What you're thinking of is a spinoff, which would be generation 4.5.

 

And, yes, it would be pretty cool.

There may be equivalent characters in G5, or characters based on the CMC, but I don't see them remaining in their current incarnation. In season 4, it would be nice to see more of them, including them finally getting their cutie marks, but that would still be the current generation. In truth, I don't want to see the same characters in G5, simply because a new generation should have a new premise and cast.

It never was the mane 6 in each generation.

 

G1's primary cast was actually three humans, Megan, Danny, and Molly, with a large number of ponies rotating through. The only ones consistent with G4 were Applejack and Spike.

 

G1.5's primary cast was seven ponies: Starlight, Sweetheart, Melody, Bright Eyes, Patch, Clover and Bon Bon.

 

G2 didn't have an animated show.

 

G3 started with a large rotating cast again, and narrowed down to seven, called the 'Core 7': Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Cheerilee, Scootaloo, Sweetie Bell, Starsong, and Toola-Roola.

 

G3.5 has the same cast as the core 7.

 

If this trend continues, then there will likely be a short G4.5, giving Hasbro time to retool for G5. G4.5 *might* be grown-up CMC, why not. But G5 will likely be another 'modern day' version of the ponies rather than a semi-historical fantasy.

Gosh I hope this doesn't happen. A non-fantastical "slife" without our favorite ponies? That sounds terrible. 

 

I just hope at the least that they don't throw away the Equestria setting and world, and just have it far-flung into the future or something, after more modern developments have taken place.

 

What a waste it would be to trash such a great setting.

this actually sounds like an interesting idea. it would be nice to see what they would be like 10-15 years in the future. i'm just hoping they get their cutie marks sometime soon so that i don't have to wait until then to know their talents. i really want them to earn it this coming season or at least the next one. the wait is too long for me.

It really depends on how long it takes for Hasbro to retool for G5. Given how retailers like Toys'R'Us and Target are in the process of removing the 'girls'/'boys' separated aisles, Hasbro may decide to reorganize as well in the future and remove corporate-entrenched dividing line between their girls and boys departments (Yes, they actually have departments labeled 'Girls' and 'Boys') In which case the My Little Pony toys of the generation *after* the reorg are going to be very interesting indeed. We may end up with a genre-blending of fantasy, sci-fi, and modern stuff going on, as the corporation tries to pull in more of the boy market without really understanding what they're doing.

Oh god i searched G3 to see what scootaloo, rainbow dash, pinkie pie, cheerilee, and sweetie bell looked like and i am simply horrified. I mean RD just made me cringe. I guess thats why everyone says the previous generations were just simply horrible lol.

A grown up CMC is season 5 will be unknown.

 

Withing every generation, new ponies are introduced, so the odds of them sticking to some old ones are very little.

I'd love a spin off of the CMC. Just don't see the next generation being a continuation of G4. Though after how much money and fandom there is around the property now, they might want to try and keep that going.

I feel like if Hasbro makes a G5 of MLP, I see it with new characters, location, and having nothing to do with G4. It would pretty much be like Transformers.

 

For one, I don't see the show lasting to long with only 3 characters. Besides, what would the show be about? The CMC should just get to go on more adventures with the 6 when they get their cutie marks. 

 

That and I don't really like the CMC that much.

One of these days I intend to attempt to draw one character in the same pose, but in the style of each iteration of MLP. Just to see. Probably Applejack, since she supposedly existed in each of them somewhere.

That would be cool but instead of G5 we could call it MLP:FIM:TNG.

 

It could focus on the CMC but we could see a lot of the characters older. I'd really like to see what Spike will actually look like as a bigger dragon.
