Can anypony tell me what's the best free music program?

Lately I've become more interested in creating electronic music (the interest was already there, but I seem to have run out of patience with myself), and I was wondering what programs you guys would suggest I use.  A friend suggested I download Audacity, and I have played around with it a little bit, but I'm not entirely sure about it yet.

*Whatever program I get, it has to be free; alas, I am broke and cannot afford to spend on computer-related things.

*It also has to be idiot-friendly, as...  I am an idiot.  -facehoof-

*I'm really looking for something that would be good for dubstep and other techno/dance types of music.  The ability to easily insert short, random sounds (like blips, beeps, and single words) is kind of important.

Aaannnnd...  if I'm  just being an idiot, and a thing like this does not actually exist, then please let me know that as well, because I would hate to waste my time (or anyone else's) in a vain search for a fantasy item.

i would start out using the demo of fl studio, you can do everything besides save the project file, you can even export the audio file!

it also supports vst's and whatnot, and the plugins that come with the demo are half decent.

i was able to teach myself how to use the program when i was 10, so it should be fairly easy for you to learn.

watch a lot of youtube videos on how to use it.

i'm pretty sure that SeamlessR is doing tutorials for beginners to fl studio!

keep in mind that music is never easy, and it takes a lot of practice.

i wish you the best of luck c:

, since you're asking for help with creating music, after a fashion, but not sharing any songs that you've made yet I've moved your thread to the Creative Resources section. Just letting you know :).

Oh, okay.  Thank you for letting me know, and I apologize for posting in the wrong thread.  I'm kind of a noob here.  :b

Muchas gracias.  That program looks pretty cool; I think I'll try it out.  c:

Here, let me show you some websites called Youtube and Pandora Internet Radio. I assure you they will come in handy with in handy with music needs.

You should actually read the post instead of just commenting after the thread title.

I'm looking for programs to help me CREATE music, not listen to it.

It's alright.  I apologize if I sounded kind of snappy; I just noticed a bunch of people on here don't read the posts, and I was thinking something like that had happened here.  sorry.  -____-'

iTunes

There's really nothing good for music that's free. The cheapest I can think of is Mixcraft, and that's 70 dollars. Audacity isn't really a music program and would probably just frustrate you (like it did me).

on second thought, thepiratebay is always an option...

The only free program like this I know is Linux Multimedia Studio (lmms); not exactly idiot-proof, but I don't find it really hard to get used to, either.

I would go with FL Studio. Even thought its not free, its a great choice since it has a plethora of features and tools and such.
