Anything that You Do NOT Like Ponified or Crossovered with FiM?

I like most in general and ponification holds a special place in my heart as it's what first caught my attention while hating. There are a few I don't like such as the commonly mentioned R34 and grim dark I can take or leave depending on the pic. Say a pony necromorph freaks the buck out of me more often than not.

I am going to rectify what I said originally. For the most part, I don't mind a lot of the pony crossovers and fics. I actually enjoy and like quite a few of them. Along with the exception of most clopfics, and gore though there are a select certain few genres I don't think should be crossovered, including by other genres and others while I am fine with I can't really approve or say I like that much.

Also I do have a problem with some of the overzealous bronies that insist that "ponies go great with everything" or MLP is the best thing since sliced bread blindly worshipping the show like a religion. While this may be the case for some areas, and your opinion obviously varies from my own, I still think many if not most notable genres are at their best in their original form, parodies being something unique from that. Hollywood does a bad enough job butchering genres with remakes and sequels.

While I do find parodies and crossovers fun, I find that having most shows and works standalone well enough to show their merits.

Anything that takes itself too serious or grimdark

Same.

Also, I really don't mind it most of the times, but then there are at times where it's either just weird for a ponification, or just flat out stupid and pointless.

Even though, it's cool with me.

I don't find classic movies and classic songs to be a good fit with ponies. I also hate it when they get crossovered with dancing fads of today, like the Harlem Shake (because I truly don't like modern dance fads).

I don't have anything against ponified things. They're nothing more than crossovers people make out of good, lighthearted fun.

However, it's always jarring whenever I see another film, show, or other medium known for having a really grim tone become ponified.

Clockwork Orange is a perfect example.

Sorry, but no. I've seen so many other works of weird pony art that that doesn't even cross my mind as strange by comparison.

Yeah, I really like grim and dark ponified stuff, whatchu gonna do.

I really didn't like the fact that they tried to ponify Team Fortress 2. Some of the crossovers just made no sense, such as Twilight Sparkle being the Sniper.

I really don't like the Anime humanized ponies(and most of the anime ponies). I'm not a fan of Anime at all really. I'm also not a fan of Grimdark. Though fics like Rainbow Factory and Cupckaes, I rather liked.

I haven't seen much of cross overs I don't like, other than maybe Pokemon.

But I love the different music album art...

oh and I thought this was brilliantly done.

Jarring? Mate, that's the name of the game! B)

Personally, I think that opposites attract, and that any crossover can potentially work, provided it's done right. I can think of many, many, many examples of bad crossovers, but never one that is the fault of the pairing itself. I don't think that anything necessarily needs to be ponified, but man never needed to invent the internet either. Doesn't mean it wasn't awesome.

I also think it's stupid to think that crossing something over with ponies "tarnishes it". For instance, Star Wars is my favorite thing of all time ever, and ranks several points above ponies, and yet I adore watching it get ponified. I have read two SW crossover fics since joining the fandom, one which was quite excellent, and another which was quite bad, yet I still don't fault either author for sharing their creative vision. They thought they could make a great story by putting ponies in Star Wars, and they took their shots (with varying degrees of success), and as a Star Wars fan, I greatly appreciated the homage to my favorite franchise.

Creativity is something we should encourage in this fandom, not try to scare away.

I hate when people make MLP seem gory and dark. I really hate that. Well, Pinkie got sad in one episode. Let's make her a psycho that kills everyone because derp! I hate that so much. Cupcakes, Smile HD, and anything of that sort I wish would not exist. Sorry, but that stuff irritates me. -_-

I can't stand ponified ponies. I mean, they're pretty pony-ish as they come, and then you go and ponify them? What is wrong with people in this world?

It's not that I'm against fanfiction at all, but I personally do not want to read any (light-hearted or not).  It's like when I read a fiction book, I hate to watch the movie adaptations of said books since the movie's distort my interpretation of the characters, their interactions with other characters, and not by the book plot elements (the hobbit part one for a really good example).

Same goes the other way around.  What is canon in a show and what is fan canon are completely different worlds, and delving into fan canon stuff just distorts my interpretations of FIM characters, and I know fanfics would have the most influence on me in that way (because I LOVE reading).  Fan parody's, analysis videos, games don't really have much affect on me.  I either find a parody entertaining and have a complete different character to interpret (just same skin and setting), I either agree with an fan's analytical interpretation or not, and games is something in a complete different interpenetration scene altogether for me.

As for art, Anything that exploits the characters in nonPG related ways (i.e. R34 and shipping) I turn a blind eye to.  Again, It's not that I am not at all okay with it (everyone has their tastes) but I will not partake in viewing and fantasizing. Otherwise, Art is in its own interpretation.  Since the official comics are Official, I take them as canon btw (as long as the comic plots don't interfere with the main show plots, and it has yet to pose this problem.  I am thinking about the future in how the second arc and season 4 will/will not merge if we get an explanation to Luna's distorted usurpation.

Apart from fan related content, I am not very keen on cheap toys.  I like quality in plastic figurines so I'm not really collecting anything more than one brushable of the main 6 and my favorite characters of the blind bag series, because I'm a suck for petite things. As for the FUNKO figures, I am collecting them because they are well made, anatomically correct, and are just so cute. I don't really have much to say on clothes and other things outside of toy-verse, but I have a derpy wallet, and a slew of t-shirts.

I do critically look at the stuffed animal world of FIM, not as a animal creator, but as a restorer and just an overall fan (it's more like an obsession) of stuffed animals.  I want as close to the characters stuffed animals as possible (I hate the fabric strip mane ponies, and any pony with a anatomically incorrect face).  I did get the Build-a-Bear Pinkie Pie, because I always dreamed of having a BB of my own, and their ponies are not only very well made (I am definitely not a fan of the brushable mane style but it actually works in my eyes with Pinkie Pie), but you can make them 'your creation'...So yeah, if I'm depressed, I'm hugging her, believing she's listening and the whole nine yards.  Anywhooo...the Aurora ones at first seemed promising seeing online pics, but I am very disappointed since their faces just look squished.  I did order a 4thD pinkie Pie, because they look amazing for a commercial product (I can't expect perfection), and I am hoping to someday have my OC made into a stuffed animal (but I've been very picky and don't have 600$ to throw around).

  • 2 years later...

I hate MLP crossovered with anything that has zero relevance to MLP (Attack on Titan, Naruto, Simpsons etc.)

It's so freaking annoying, and the idiots who do it do it look cool.

If you're going to ponify something, can you atleast do it with something that makes sense? Nobody wants to see your ugly ass ponifyment of one of the FNAF Animatronics or a popular politician.

I'm fine when it's just ironic. But seriously crossing it over? Leave the other fandoms alone :c

I don't like Sonic the Hedgehog crossovers, especially shipping Sonic with ponies. I've never been a Sonic fan, he has always annoyed me with his freaking attitude.

I'm okay with grimdark, if it is an actual story. Grimdark for the sake of it or for titillation is distasteful to me. For example, Fallout Equestria has a lot of grimdark stuff, but it is a part of the story.  And that story is about fighting for a better future. But stories like Cupcakes just seem like the gore is the point. And any semblance of story is just a coincidence.

Well, I LOVE crossovers and ponofication! And the more obscure thing is added to the pony mix, the better...

BUT! For some reason it bugs me when people ponify Pikachu and leave it with the original Pikachu tail. I can't really explain why, but something feels off about that tail :'D

Sonic the Hedgehog of course.

Due to the already bad blood between both sides, I want this fanbase and the sonic fanbase to stay as far away from each other as humanly possible.

Nothing but Fallout Equestria, and only because the story was well-written. If it was just insert ponies into super-edgy world with nukes and power armour and nuka-cola with no character development or anything of the sort, then I would not be interested.

Nope, nothing.  Not one thing.  Ponify the entire world, I say.

Sure, there's lots of stuff I see where I go, "Oh, gimmie a break.  Pffft.  That's just dumb," but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be done.

I wouldn't say there is anything specifically that bothers me, but I've seen some crossovers that just don't make any sense, or seem just plain weird. I saw a TMNT/MLP crossover one time. It was a fanfic. As curious as I was, I couldn't read it because I found it just so strange that they would crossover those two things.

I'm for creative freedom, but a few things are really reaching the end of it for me. Grimdark is one. For another, I wouldn't like seeing MLP crossed over with Thomas the Tank Engine as something about it just seems off. I did it once as a joke and don't plan on doing it again, and beyond that the Thomas fanbase, although there are many great people in it, is mostly associated with badly-edited YouTube videos. I love Thomas and I like some of their fansites, but that's not something I like to see happen in any fanbase.

In addition, the only Sonic the Hedgehog crossovers I like are when MLP characters are drawn in that art style. Some good artists can get creative with the accessories. Also, it's fun to speculate which character is stronger, faster, etc., but even that was getting played out after AnimatedJames did it. However, the worlds of Sonic and MLP are incompatible and have little in common beyond both being brightly-colored and having technicolor anthropomorphic animals with superpowers. In addition, the animosity between the two fandoms is something I find nonsensical and hypocritical considering the similarities between them. It's a big turn-off and part of the reason why people look down on both of our fandoms.
