I want to hear from my fellow bronies. Please select an option from the poll above, and leave a little blurb as to why either Saints Row Four or Grand Theft Auto Five is the better game. I'm debating purchasing one or the other, so make some fair points.

Lets the games begin!

this picture is severely relevant

I'd say both, because I am a big fan of GTA and Saints Row. GTA is fun, and SR is fun as well.

My friend got both games and I am jealous

As far as my knowledge goes, the Saints Row series is MUCH less serious than the GTA series, and has been for quite a long time. I see Saints Row as more comedic and slapstick than anything else, allowing you to make your own protagonist in any shape or form you liked instead of a preset design, albeit with a predefined story. GTA's a bit more...gritty, in both story and humor. I liked Saints Row 2 because it filled me with a sense of accomplishment in that I could leap through someone's car window and drive off like nothing ever happened. The police also seemed a bit more...forgiving than GTA's, at least in my experiences. I like both, but I found Saints Row to be more entertaining. It's all your call, basically.

The police do not get as serious in Saints Row as they do in GTA. I had downloaded Saints Row: The Third, as a free game from PS+, and I just couldn't get into it. So whenever I do play, I just go around kicking people in the head for fun and then eventually i'll do a mission or two. Saints Row is a fun game though, don't get me wrong, but I just prefer GTA more. Plus I feel like GTA lives up to its rating more than Saints Row.

Personally I prefer the saints row series, but this is mainly because I've never really fully played a GTA game. I've just always been a saints row kinda gal, though Los santos is pretty boss

While Saint's Row IV is an amazing game, full of fun and whacky stuff, GTA V is the better game. SR is more fun in my eyes, but GTA has this overwhelming amount of stuff for you to do. Go with GTA.

Definitely GTA. Tried Saints Row 2 and 3 but I didn't really like it. Saints Row 4 looks kind of fun so I'll probably try that out. But I've liked every GTA game that has come out and have never gotten bored of GTA SA and IV.

GTA V by a landslide. It was downright amazing. It has funny moments, the characters are memorable, the setting is great and the missions, while frustrating, are actually nice as well. If you want a nice, long, interesting game...then GTA V is the way to go. Trust me, it's worth it and A LOT better than any of the Saints Row games....to me, at least.

Saints Row has more likeable characters, a more family dynamtic in terms of how your characters interact with one another as they genuinely worry and are concerned for each other's well being (despite the fact they are criminals).

I call Saints Row the "Rock Star" criminal game - it's about image, fame, glory - all while being a bad-ass criminal overlord. It is a lot less serious and I personally perfer that.

GTA V is more gritty but (for me) with less likable characters. It's more of a satire of dark criminal life while SR3 and 4 is a parody of criminal life.

SR3 &4 for me all the way.

Saints Row IV got silly comedy, playable female characters, crazy amounts of customizations, amazingly entertaining superpowers, a fun cheesy story, memorable characters, absolutely no sense of realism, creative over the top nonsense and a unique art style, so I went with it over the gritty realistic manly man fantasy of GTA. I am sure GTA5 is a great game for it's intended audience, and probably contains several of the points I put above in favor of SR4, but personally I love me some fighting aliens with telekinesis, Dubstep guns and super speed/jumping over realistic heists.

You all have made some interesting points, and I appreciate that. Because opinions are very varied, what I have decided is to borrow copies of SR3 and GTA4 from my friends, play those, and make my decision from there. Thanks for all your input, I appreciate it.

Fair warning, SR3 is often recognized as the worst game in the series, and I haven't heard a lot of nice things about GTA4 either.

I like both, GTAV was my first GTA game and it seems it's to have fun and it's only as silly as you make it. However Saints row is specifically for getting in a good laugh or two, but the humor might not be everyone's cup of tea, personally I love stupid humor as long as it's not too extreme and the characters aren't complete morons. I love Monty Python but I hate modern Spongebob episodes for example, (not to offend you or your opinion if you like modern spongebob episodes I just don't personally enjoy them.) So what I'm saying basically is it's whatever I feel like I guess :3

BAH! Game of the generation! It has everything you ever wanted in a game.

  • Zany Weapons
  • Crazy missions
  • Huge varities
  • Sexy geeky girls
  • Play as a toliet
  • Zombies
  • Luchadors with chainsaws
  • biologically enhanced supermen

Seriously, it's my favorite game of this entire generation.
