SPACE PONIES!

Anyone like space? Isn't it awesome?

I'd like to share a great website for anyone who likes to see lots of amazing photography from hubble and other sources. NASA PIC OF THE DAY WEBSITE

Does anyone here have a telescope or photography of the night sky?

I own a reflector telescope. I've seen lots of things through it, like Jupiter and it's four major moons, Saturn's ring, Venus, and even a couple galaxies and nebulae.

I have some photos I took of the moon with it real close up with awesome detail, but I have to find it still. Will post when I do. tongue.png

I like space. Space, space space. Gotta go to space.

Anyway, yeah, I like space. And I do have a telescope... but it's not all that good. That, and I live in a bad place to view space (neighborhoods aren't good spots for telescopes).

So for now I just end up looking at the moon or the stars a lot. But sometimes I can get an OK look at the moon with the telescope.

I want to be an astronautical engineer, so of course I love space, teehee~

Unfortunately my telescope is bad and it's very difficult to see anything here anyways. We took it up to my cottage but it's not much better, it's very old ^^;

I love space. I'd like to go to space, even though it's an impossible dream. Just to walk on the moon or something...it would be so surreal to do...and then stare back at planet earth. It would be epic to go to space.

You may yet get to go to space, it's getting more commercialized every day. But until then, have a little taste of what the view is like.

They used to say cameras couldn't capture the true beauty, but I think we've gotten close with modern tech.

Ok, so I just went to see Gravity. Anyone who's interested in this sort of thing. I highly recommend seeing it. It is pretty accurate in how crazy things could get for a team of astronauts. They did a great job of depicting life in low orbit.

While I enjoy contemplating the vastness it can sometimes make me feel a little...little. I usually end up feeling insignificant and a little overwhelmed. Perhaps even depressed.

After I saw Gravity, I never, ever, ever want to go to space. There's just not enough oxygen up there. or sound. I would get lonely pretty quick, too.

I subscribed to several space related subreddits, help kickstart arkyd, donated to the planetary society and do own my own telescope. It's a ten inch dobsonian with the good ol' telrad sight. I haven't used it much though as new moons on the weekend don't happen often. However, I have gotten an excellent view of Saturn, its rings and several moons with the dob along with a few galaxies, globular and open clusters, and of course the moon.

I can neither confirm nor deny myself being the cause of electrical related malfunctions. Anyways, you wouldn't happen to have a jar of replacement magic smoke would you?

It is quite overwhelming. I've tried to comprehend it, it's just not doable, believe me. :P

I agree, within the first few minutes, just watching them on the satellite arm nearly gave me vertigo. I'd vomit everywhere. blush.png

I would absolutely love to look down on Earth from there though. I couldn't dream of something more beautiful.

I found the shot I took. It's not all that great cause it's just a little point and click digital camera aimed through the eyepiece. But this is through my scope. It's the harvest moon!

On that note, Here's an image of a real Space walker, he's got a jetpack to keep himself from drifting away. But even one little miscalculation could be the difference between life or death out there. The months of vertigo and G-force training pay off here.
