Fireworks 32 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 (edited) Ever had an obsession, or a strong appreciation with something as a kid? I have a perfect example for mine! Ever since I was a little kid, I have loved (and still love) looking at aircraft warning lights. In case any of you don't know what those are, those are the red lights you see on top of cell phone towers, and other tall structures/buildings at night. Some flash on and off, some stay solid, and others will gradually light up, and slowly dim down, repeating that pattern all night long. Some even briefly blink a white light during the day. Anyway, I'm sure you've all seen them. When I was younger, back when I had a bed time, I would sneak out into the kitchen at around 12-1 AM, and spend hours (yes, hours) looking at the "light show" outside of the window. Had a pretty good view back then, at the house I used to stay at. I visit there quite often, and last time I was there, to my surprise, 2 more towers had been put up - meaning 3 of them were now in view. Good times. I love looking at these. I can't figure out why though, although I came up with a few "theories" - I guess you could say. Edited November 3, 2013 by Fireworks
Ac3xAssasin 455 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 Yes, I have had one. Now brace yourselves because this is kind of weird, Vacuums were my obsession when I was 3, I don't remember anything, but my mom told me I used to ask random people if they wanted to see my vacuum.
Techite Sparkle 354 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 @aceassasin. You will most likely have trouble believing this but I also had the same obsession as you but in a different way. My parents when I was little let me attempt to vacuum the living room. And I thought it was amazing how you could see a clean line though the part you just vacumned. Duno if it had to do with a love of comparing and contrasting... xD but yeah In life when you are given gratitude. Be accepting and thankful of it. DND 2,355 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 Hehe, animals. I still do. I always crawled on all fours, read, and drew just about everything pertaining to my fantasy creature worlds. Although I can't do half the stuff I used to do now, I still have that deep spark of interest in the furry, feathered, or even scaled. Most of the time I was too young to seriously understand everything on T.V, but Danny Phantom really amazed me back then. I also had a deep interest in collecting Webkinz, Littlest Pet Shop and MLP toys. There was also Nintendo games that I used to always watch my older brother play... I drew a lot of Pokemon and Zelda too. That's pretty much my childhood in a nutshell.
Neon Fire 473 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 Yaaaa. I loved Pokemon, dragons and animals (I still do) and this next one is weird.... I was obsessed with spongebob so much at around 7, that I said I wanted to marry him o.o
GlitterBloom 6 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 I was Disney obsessed! I remember wanting to grow up and be a Disney princess when I was a child, getting so excited when a new Disney movie came out, and playing with all the McDonalds and Burger King Disney toys. Back in those times, we're talking the late 80's and early 90's here, the dolls were SO expensive! So I only had the happy meal toys and I loved playing with them during recess. I think I'm still a bit obsessed with Disney princesses.
GhostPony750 959 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 (edited) I was obsessed with cars. I knew every single brands of cars and I could recognize a bunch of them. Seeing muscle cars was amazing for me. But also rocks.... this comes from my father lol. Once, I saw him look at rocks in the driveway. And I asked him what he was doing. He told me that he was searching for fossils. Since then, I always look at the ground when walking, searching for interesting treasures. Mio Akiyama 145 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 I was obsessed with Pokemon, Jurassic Park, and Godzilla when I was little. My pokemon collection filled a box to the point where it couldn't close. My Jurassic Park collection was the first one I actually finished. I had one of each Jurassic Park dinosaur(except for one Spinosaurus and one T-Rex, which bothers me to this day). My Godzilla collection was nowhere near complete. I had 10 Godzilla Wars toys, a bunch of the $10 ones(that collection I completed), and I had a few imported from China and Japan. I also had like 4 Godzilla movies, all the Pokemon movies from Gen I, and I saw all the Jurassic Park movies.
Moved to Elsewhere 11,331 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 Well since I have autism I would get a fixation on stuff. So my interest was Pokemon. Yeah I played with Pokemon toys, watched the anime, and played the games. This might seem stupid but when I was like 5, I would use Squirtle in every sentence. It really annoyed everyone. Rainbow Eclipse 3,927 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 Thomas The Tank Engine. I think it might have been because lots of the engines have numbers (was pretty fascinated with numbers) and also because of the huge (and I mean huge) amount of accidents. Also, I remember watching the revamped series and thinking "Where are Duck, Donald and Douglas?" I'm rambling, aren't I? Someone fetch the duct tape. Fluttershyfan94 5,749 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 I had a few obsessions when I was a kid, dinosaurs were one of them. Also, I had an obsession with making stuff, had an interest in how things work. Which is why I had an obsession with the human body and how it works. But my number one obsession are definitely cars, I believe I've been obsessed with cars since I was a little kid. All types of machines interested me, trucks, bulldozers, excavators, ships, helicopters.. Everything that has an engine, I was obsessed with every detail. The sound, the smell, how they looked. Seeing the US army in my country, flying over my house on their big transport helicopters and normal assault helicopters were really interesting to me. So cars became an obsession, I wanted to know everything about them. So I spent a lot of time learning about cars, I still do today. I might even say that I'm more obsessed with cars today then I was when I was a child. So yeah, I was and still am obsessed with cars. 1 DA: http://fluttershyfan94.deviantart.com/ Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/Fluttershyfan94
Grand_Finale 529 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 DINOSAURS Holy, I loved dinosaurs from the age of 5 to 12. In kindergarden I wanted to be a Paleantologist, and I knew the names of a buttload of dinosaurs. I had a whole tube of dinosaur toys (One of which being a gigantic diplodocus) and I went to a dinosaur summer camp fo 4 years. GhostPony750 959 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 -FossilsOh wow, you too! I have fossils and rare rocks lying everywhere in my house. I eventually started a "collection" with my father, since we share the same interest. But I just usually give my fossils away to people I like, since I'm not materialist, and it makes a good gift. But I kept one for my whole life. You have everything here, ranging from an ammonite to a shell. Maybe I'll give it to someone special someday.
ghostfacekiller39 23,879 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 Christina Aguilara. Not sure that's how you spell her name, but yeahh. Not her music, either. Her body, man. Like, I had framed pictures and posters of her posing and stuff all over my wall, but I haven't listened to a single one of her songs in my entire life. All my dad thought of it was "Hey, I know he's not gay." After that, my dad would take me to Hooters every now and again, and he'd tell me to start faking sick. When I did that, all those girls started hugging all over 7-year-old me, making me feel better One time, they even all signed a football for me. We must've done that 8 or 9 times. So...scantily clad women? I guess? 2 He who is Positively Obsessed With All Things Rarity!!! Check out the Rarity Fan Club! "Not everyone who is pretty is necessarily beautiful. Shanks 10,817 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 I have had so many obsessions and fixations throughout the years especially during my childhood that I could fill an entire book but I don't think most of you have the time or patience to read that in one sitting. I was crazy about Mickey Mouse was a little kid no matter where we went I always had to have my Mickey Mouse doll with me and I also amassed a rather impressive keychain collection. When I got a bit older Power Rangers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were go to shows, I had almost every toy you could imagine and watched the episodes religiously and acted like the world was coming to an end when I missed even one episode. I became obsessed with sci fi and Star Wars in middle school and gobbled up comics and novels faster than most people went through water and gained a strong love of anime especially Dragon Ball Z. Most of my interest from middle school carried on into high school and some of them I still have today except for me being slightly less obsessive about them. Inactive01 5,299 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 I used to be obsessed with subway sounds and anything to do with them. I was able to meet one of the subway controllers while I was looking out the window on the first subway car. It was such a fun experience to say the least. And then there's my obsession with statistics. I loved to see sports scores and look at different statistics, wondering what they actually meant haha. It became one of my roots to loving sports in general though, especially baseball, basketball, and football (Soccer).

Arretez 225 November 3, 2013 Share November 3, 2013 Let's see... I was obsessed with: Dinosaurs Planes Star Wars Ninjas Medieval Europe Animals My obsession with dinosaurs died at about the age of six when I went to a children's museum to see the animatronic dinosaurs. I was so psyched to see them, that is, until I actually saw them. They scared me to death. In fact, they scared me so much that I started crying. Robot dinosaurs still scare me to this day. I was, and still kinda am, obsessed with planes. I've always wanted to fly, and I dreamt of becoming a Blue Angel one day. Everyone I was friends with as a child was obsessed with Star Wars, so... yeah. That's about it with that. Ninjas and Medieval Europe: my first Halloween costume that I actually remember choosing was a ninja. When I was ten years old, I tried practicing kuji magic in my backyard (yeah, I was a weird kid.) The year after that was a knight. My obsession with Ninjas and Medieval Europe never really died. I have an entire shelf of books dedicated to each subject. Lastly is animals. I love animals of all sorts. My mind is like a sponge of information for animals. By the time I was eight, I read a book called "North American Wildlife" well over one hundred times, and I could tell you every North American animal's habitat, diet, full scientific name, and whether or not they would make a good pet. Currently, I'm volunteering at a zoo, and I have been for the past five years. This obsession has never died, and I don't think that it ever will. I'm ok with that.
