Favorite Obscure Band

Firewater.

I heard of them from another one of my favorite obscure artists, Voltaire. Their sound is very unique and they have some of the most well thought out and meaningful lyrics I've ever heard. Their music really resonates with me.

I had Gentle Giant and Camel, but they slowly regain popularity nowaday. (yay)

So here's one, Citizen Cain. The most complex prog rock I've heard. (weirdly mixed with prog metal sometimes, like Falling from Sephiroth)

Some others if you like this:

If you like this I'm surprised lol

I don't know how many - if any - of the groups I listen to could really be considered "obscure". I don't really even listen to the radio outside of an Oldies station, so there you go. However, there are two groups I can think of that probably are really obscure, the first being Egg, but I've posted them on this forum a few times before, so I'll instead post one I just discovered:

This one most certainly isn't for everybody, and this isn't even representative of the band's later sound. However, this song is by far my favorite by them. It's based on a 15th or 14th century song, and the band members' knowledge of music and such from the time, really helps make it sound somewhat authentic.

Such a shame I had to dig so deep to find anything like this. I think that Medieval and Renaissance style melodies and harmonies could work beautifully in songs. Especially with an instrumentation like this one.

Great Big Sea! I am always suprised how a band that has been big in the North East for 20 years is obscure.. but there you have it. The link is to the song, "Ordinary Day". Also check out "Consequence Free" If so inclined. I have had the pleasure of seeing this band live twice, and they are one of the few bands that actually do better live shows then studio music. Enjoy!

It's just the mix of styles, and what every single act in the ensemble brings for the band that makes them a unique sound. Yeah, it's gotta be Nortec Collective for me, hands down. Though they have had their spotlight, mostly they remain a regional thing in Latin America.

Special props to Clorofila, they really nailed that sound just right:

Good Charlotte is one of the best punk rock bands ever, and my favorite song of theirs is definitely "Waldorf Worldwide."

OC's: Troubled Soul, Blue Skies, and TurmoilShadow Footsteps, Autumn Morning

OC Pictures were all created using General Zoi's awesome pony creator!

Credit for amazing sig goes to ~Sadistic Oblivion~, who allowed me to usurp his title as "Equestria's newest bat pony fan!"

And credit for superawesome avatar goes to Doc. Volt.  Many thanks to both of you!

Friend For A Foe is sadly a very unknown group. They do quite a few instrumentals that are fantastic and their songs with vocals are really good too. I highly suggest giving them a look, mainly their band camp page.

I am unsure if these guys are considered obscure at this point, but Psyclon Nine is another favorite of mine.
