Creepy Stallion

@

(Keep in mind guys... this is probably going to be cliche and suck. (I really cant get into the mindset of people who go barhopping to try and pick up chicks... Especially ones this shady.))

One of the regular stallions at the bar took a liking to the newer mare so he'd moved a bit closer to her and threw his hoof around her shoulder in a companionable manner. He was clearly tipsy but not really impaired yet... but he also seemed a bit nervous and a few of the patrons had been eyeing him for a while. (Probably expecting him to pull something.) "Sooooo miss could i buy you a drink? Maybe help you put aside your worries for a couple hours?" He sounds friendly but his eyes and manner tell her what hes really after.

Clockwork glanced up to where Eclipse had pointed to, double taking as his eyes focused on what should have been a ruined surface. It was pristine, just as Eclipse had said. "How very strange indeed..." He mused, then stood up, his eyes wide. Pavisa entered the room, sporting a horn. "What sorcery is this? Something is very wrong here.. Yet.. so very intriguing." He trotted across the room to Pavisa. "I'm going to take a guess and say, you don't know how you magically grew a horn, do you? Were I not in the middle of nowhere, I would be very interested to study this. Such a thing has never been done!" He glanced over her new horn, noting the odd sheen to it, as though it were almost metallic. "Were I not surrounded, she would make an excellent test subject.." He thought. This is just what he had been searching for in his most recent studies of magic. Crimson wandered in, and had taken Pavisa's attention. She was clearly not in the mood to have her horn examined any further, and so his interest would have to wait, however something else peaked his interest now. The air was becoming rapidly colder, how and why, he was oblivious to, until Crimson spoke. "Crimson.. How could you know that it is the cabin it's self which caused the air to cool? You wouldn't know something more about this place than you let on, would you?" He gazed with a cold, accusing stare, his eyes were squinted, piercing Crimson for answers. He could smell the dishonesty, it was so very obvious he wasn't telling them something, but what, he could not say. He was beginning to wonder if this pirate was the source of their problems now. Just then, another pony barged in through the front door, causing Clockwork to tense up. His eyes snapped past Crimson, peering at the freezing stallion. "Who in Equestria is that..?"

As the ground began to lurch, Scribbler tried his best to keep his stance, but was shaken to his knees. Stumbling back up to his hooves, he glanced about him, his eyes shielded from the brilliant light to a degree, though it was still hurting his eyes. Adjusting the tint slightly, he noticed Mirror, and went quickly to her side. "Mirror, are you alright?" He asked, seeing she was struggling with the light still. Orion yelled over the din, requesting he use the bridge spell again. Scribbler turned his head to face Orion. "I can try.. Hold on!" He looked about himself at the outcome of whatever had taken place. The ground was unrecognizable, what could have caused this?? Geothermal activity? No, not with that light.. This had to be some form of magic. Something ancient and far beyond his comprehension. He pointed his horn at the area Orion needed bridged, and began firing his magic. He began to strain, knowing this wasn't good, he had to do something though. A bead of sweat rolled down his neck, as he winced at the throbbing pain beginning to grow in his head. The spell he'd cast worked, it had created the bridge they needed, but now he was completely drained once again. Scribbler dropped to the ground, unable to lift his weight immediately. The spell had been almost too much for him. His energy wasn't nearly at full yet, and this spell wasn't that powerful, though it took what little he had to make it work. The bridge glowed strongly, though it seemed as though it was being almost drowned out by whatever was generating the light from below. "Hurry, Orion. I'm not certain how long the spell will last under these conditions." He turned again to Mirror, and smiled. "You should go.. I am too weak to move on, I will only slow you down." His voice shuddered, unsure of how to proceed. He wasn't even certain he'd live through this, but he would see to it the others made it across. He didn't fancy the thought of being left behind, but he knew if he slowed them down, it could mean the end of everything. He sighed, realizing his part in this journey might just not be what he'd hoped for it to be. Now, more than ever, he wished he'd tried to break that damned book when he had it in his hooves. "Water under the bridge.." The only thought now that brought him comfort. That, and knowing that he'd given Mirror and the others a chance to survive this.

(OOC: No, I'm not killing Scribbler off, just throwing in some drama, he's still weak from the hit to the head, so I didn't want to forget that part)

Crimson frowned and, for a moment, thought he would have to either come up with another lie, or simply tell the truth, and neither option seemed desirable to the pirate. "This guy always has that weird stare...like he's trying to dissect you for answers just by looking at you...I don't like it...I think I'll keep an eye on this guy...but for now, I should check out that freezing ponycicle..." he thought. Before trotting over next to the frozen stallion. "I have no idea...but he looks like he's almost frozen to death...so he should b harmless, give me a second, I'll thaw him out..." he said, before laying a hoof on the stallions shoulder, using rising heat to warm his body up, melting the frost and revealing a rather weatherworn, white stallion, with a katana strapped to his side. Crimson raised an eyebrow at the weapon. "Hmm...it'll take a few minutes to heat is body up, without overdoing it...but do ya think he's friendly?" he asked.

Ronin laid slumped where he was for a few minutes, enjoying the lack of snow and ice. Then to his confusion and surprise, he heard voices a few feet away. He'd thought the cabin was abandoned, and he thought wrong. He was barely conscious, and couldn't move his body more then a few inches. So as he heard one of the voices getting closer he could do nothing bot lay there, half frozen and exhausted. But what came next was a pleasant surprise to him. he quickly felt heat passing through his body as something touched his shoulder, melting all the snow and ice and making it easier to see. With blurry vision he looked about the cabin to see the silhouettes of ponies in the room, but he didn't bother trying to make them out as he tried to move unsuccessfully. He heard the ponies talking about him, wondering if he was a threat as one with a red mane seemed to be heating his body up with some form of magic. He didn't bother moving or struggling as the heat warmed him to the core as well as sooth his aching muscles. So he laid there unable to move, just breath and hope he survives.

Gwyn approached, still blushing. “H-hi, I’m Gwyn.” She said shyly.

Ever since they had all come down stairs for some of Aegis's rather good food, Midnight had been sitting off on his own thinking about what has been happening lately. First Pavi grows a horn, then apparently some random beam of magic shot from Eclipse's horn and Crimson nearly lit the cabin on fire. Then to top it all off there's those strange letters Pavisa found and this new pony who just arrived. All this and Midnight still didn't know where his sister had disappeared to, but he hoped she was all right wherever she had gotten off to. "Well, whether or not he's a threat doesn't really matter right now. Right now this new pony is in serious need of help that we can provide in this frozen wasteland. And if he is a threat then we'll take of it promptly." Midnight said to Crimson as he walked over to get a  closer look at the newcomer. Aside from his sword this new pony didn't seem to be carrying much, which just Midnight curious as to what a pony would be doing way out here with so few provisions.

Pavisa

@@Windbreaker,

Pavisa grumbles quietly as she swallows the last of the stir fry off her plate.  "I don't want to use magic, though.  I'm an earth mare, not a unicorn..."  She was interrupted from saying anything further when a stranger with a sword rushed through the door to the cabin.  She was immediately on guard, but from the look of him he didn't seem to be quite in a shape to be a threat.  At least not to a group this large.  Content to let the ones who actually had medical experience take the first look at him, Pavisa steps to the side off by herself.

This is all happening so quickly...  This damn horn, the music, whatever that blast earlier was, now some new pony...  Celestia, am I going insane?  No, everypony else is going through this too, it's not just me...  She crosses her eyes slightly to look up at her horn, frowning again.  ...Maybe I should stop turning down the offers about magic though...  At the very least I should probably make sure this thing doesn't kill somepony by accident...

"Willow, be careful..."  Zintiik's wings start to buzz quietly again, not quite enough to lift him off the ground but sounding like he could take to the air any moment.  He gave a small sigh of relief when he saw Scribbler's bridge start forming - at least it seemed like the others had some kind of plan.  "Kricket can fly, you can't...  Don't get too close to the edge.  Will it help if I fly out to grab him for you?"

Kingfisher.

@@Frosty V,

"Yeah I..." Kingfisher sniffed the air again, pulled a slight face of concern and shrugged. "Nah, must have just been a bit of blood from earlier."

It hadn't smelled of blood... but that was the only solution that she could think of. Perhaps the light thing had done more harm than she had realized? She set the half eaten stir-fry down and pressed a hoof gently against her muzzle, checking for fresh blood: there wasn't any.

As the intruder crashed through the door, she stood abruptly but didn't move - a few of the others had moved into action and the pony was clearly far from a threat in his condition: she was no doctor, she was better leaving this to the ponies with more experience in these matters. Rather, she watched on with a brow raised suspiciously and a hoof resting on the sword as it hung loosely in the harness at her side.

@,

The spell - as expected - shot cleanly through the wall. It wasn't a particularly large amount of damage that was caused but it was a clean hole all the same. The snow and ice could clearly be seen outside and a frigid breeze began to blow through.

As before, the wards failed. The area immediately around the hole seemed to be darker: as if it was far older than the rest of the lodge. Crumbled and rotten wood replaced the sturdy material for a brief moment before it seemingly began to heal itself. The hole seemed to struggle to change though - revealing the decayed inside of the wood. Very slowly, the appearance of the decay seemed to by trying to change and return to it's original state.

Even after the surface had returned though, the cold continued to seep into the room from the now recovered section.

The aspect of cold was confused: he settled down on a shard of floating rock - barely larger than a pony - as he watched the ponies and the Zintiik creature try and... do whatever they were doing.

"Aa-aak?" He queried as he floated through the air. Flying like this wasn't new to him - it was his way of moving anyway. Willow seemed to be shouting something: he couldn't quite tell what, but she sounded angry - he didn't want to be shouted at. He didn't want to get in the way either - so he just lay watching, quite content with the situation.

Emerald Gaze.

@,

Emerald paused awkwardly - briefly considering the best course of action.

Of course, having an officer of the Canterlot guard accompany her on what would clearly be labeled as a smuggling operation should it be discovered wasn't ideal. Likewise though, she couldn't think of a way to get rid of him on the spur of the moment... not one that wouldn't arouse suspicion anyway.

"I assure you that I am quite capable to looking after myself, Captain Stahl." She said clearly - hoping that he might go back to his duties but knowing that it wasn't likely. "The guard still on the outskirts are mostly out of contact with the castle after all of our forces were pulled back to the noble district..."

Lying came as easily as breathing to the ambassador: it wasn't something she was proud of - deceiving her own - but it had to be done. All that she could hope was that none of the militia said anything to give them away... she could probably cover for them if they kept their mouths closed. "

Chuckling quietly, Stahl made no move as though he were going to go back to his post.  "Truth be told, I'm somewhat eager to meet with these guards near the outskirts...  I worry for the state of the city.  I've been trying to get back onto the streets myself, the old codgers continue to assign me on pointless patrol routes around the castle though."  The stallion sighs quietly and shakes his head - inadvertently shaking his mane to fall back down over his eye.  "I hope the royal sisters return soon...  I have heard rumors, but I refuse to believe that they have abandoned us."

Denarius

@@Midnight Scribbler, @@SilverHeart, @, @, @

The islands swayed gently over the glowing chasm. He simply let out an exaggerated sigh as Scribbler's 'bridge' began to appear. Denarius' felt relief at the sight of it, yet his outburst of emotion towards Orion was troubling him. He looked at the stallion in front of him with a set of almost perplexed eyes.

The powerlessness he had felt for that brief moment was overwhelming, such an alien feeling. He was not able to remember the last time where his skill or luck seemed to have no use in a situation. This lack of power had caused such a strong sense of self-doubt within the stallion. He had faltered and failed at the first sign of trouble. Why did this bother him so much? If he was anywhere else, his failure would of been shrugged off as he re-approached the table determined evermore to succeed with each successive attempt. No, he would not succumb so readily. This time was sure to be no different than any other.

Denarius' eyes regained their clarity and a grin spread across his face as he began to look forward with a new purpose set in mind. If he couldn't reach through skill, he might as well try chance. Following Orion's lead, he jumped off the bridge readily landing on a platform not far from the unicorn. "Oh c'mon, are you really so quick to give up? Why not try your chances a little. If there is no path create your own", he told Orion with a roguish smile as horn began to glow a pale sickly white light.

"The sisters?" Emerald echoed nervously. She knew precious little about what had happened to them - had been able to find out very little even with her forged documents. "I'm quite certain that they simply need some privacy to plan the restoration of our fine city..."

This was an awkward subject: her documents bearing an uncanny semblance to the royal seal made her feel quite uncomfortable as she tried to change the subject by any means. She glanced sidelong at the stallion and met his eyes with her own as they made their way through the better protected parts of Canterlot - the noble district.

"I appreciate the company, Stahl. I feel much safer with you beside me than my usual escort..."

White Eclipse

Just as Eclipse expected, the wall began to reform. Since this was a wooden wall, he completely expected a different result. And that's what he got, but he didn't expect it to be like this.

The way the wall tried to reform itself sickened the middle-aged unicorn. The darker, rotten wood wasn't appealing at all to look at, and it seemed to be going from an old to young bark. What's even worse is that the cool air from the outside was still making it's way into the shack.

"Heh. Sorry..." Eclipse said, turning back to the others, who probably weren't too pleased with his actions.

Ronin groaned as he finally felt like he could stand, but as he attempted to get up his legs gave out. "Dammit..." He mumbled, before trying again. This time he stood shakily "thank you all for allowing me to rest in your home, I'd like to ask if you have any food. I don't have any bits to pay for the kindness, but I'll work for it if I must." He said, trying to retain some sense of dignity.

Midnight Sky

Seeing that this Ronin seemed to be okay, at least to where he wouldn't die, Midnight turned his attention to the noise over by one of the walls. "What a wonderful new draft we have here, but maybe you could have given the rest of us some warning Eclipse." Midnight said in a neutral tone as he approached where Eclipse, Blast, and Clockwork were talking. "And as for these boxes, I don't think opening them in an area charged with old and possibly unstable magic would be very wise seeing as we have no idea what they could contain. A decision like opening these boxes should be made by a vote of the entire group anyways, since it is still a possibility we'll all die once we open one." Midnight said with a glance at the lock boxes strapped to his armor. Despite what he said though, Midnight was also beginning to think that opening them would be a good idea. Besides the fact that his curiosity was killing him and these lock boxes could hold something helpful, he was also becoming aware of the nearly hypnotic magic radiating from them, constantly drawing his attention to them. Midnight suspected it was similar to the magic energy that surrounded the key, and while he was still resisting most of the magic energy, Midnight had no idea when he'll finally give in and as such he'd be a very happy pony to be rid of those mysterious lock boxes.

Aegis Dare

@

“Offer’s open if you want it, Pavi.” Aegis said as Pavisa stepped away. He remained relaxed, even with Eclipse trying to blow holes in the place and the latest newcomer. But something felt off about all this. He hadn’t thought about it before, with the issue of food taking priority at the time, but the shack seemed too perfect. ‘Well, it hasn’t tried to kill us, so there’s no sense getting worried yet. We should try and rest while we can. Take it easy, Aegis. Remember, clear water…

(OCC(Sorry about the response time guys... I was out for a while and apparently my phone dislikes the forums.))

Strings

@@Windbreaker

Ice merely nodded at the two in response... though her posture shifted to a less tense one when they showed to be amiable.

Strings however held his hoof up and spoke in a solemn and serious voice... but that broke into a grin about halfway through. "Indeed i will not continue to tease..... But that's ok cause i wasn't joking in the first place!" After returning his attention to business and waving over a couple of stallions who where towing a medium sized wagon. "Nothing official really. There is a mare who is smuggling armor to the militias, not usually as good as my armor and usually not including quality weaponry, but i have arranged so that we cross paths today... Such good ponies should not be forced to struggle alone in such dark times and i intend to offer her a hoof..... Might be a good idea wouldn't it?"

Shady Stallion

@

When the mare pushed him away most stallions would have taken the hint, this one though had a bit more arrogance than most and he moved back towards her. "Aww come on don't be so cold, i'm sure that i could make it worth your time..." A mare with a pair of stallions (The only other patrons at the time.) started to get up (Presumably to interfere.) but one of the stallions that she was with set his hoof on her shoulder and whispered something to her, she sat back down but was clearly displeased.
