The thing I like most about Trixie is the amount of depth she's shown after only two appearances. She's seriously a deeply complex character.

 

One of the things I noted is how over the top narcissistic she is - come on, man, even people diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder aren't that bad.

 

So why is she so arrogant to the point of nearly being in love with herself?

What if it was a self-defense mechanism?

Yes, what if The Great and Powerful Trixie wasn't truly as confident as she appears? She seems to have a lot of struggles socializing with others, and that could lead to feelings of loneliness and inferiority.

 

What if the Great and Powerful Trixie is just insecure and doesn't know how to properly socialize with people, and what if that trademark arrogance was really just a self-defense mechanism to help her overcome her own insecurities and faults she feels she has? 

It probably has become engraved into her mindset at this point, but that massive ego probably started off as a facade in order to help her mask her own insecurities and shortcomings. We've seen her have bad luck numerous times throughout the comics and the show itself, and that sort of luck can take a hit on one's true opinion of themselves.

 

Look at the last panel in this comic:

 

 

Then throw in everything that happened to her between "Boast Busters" and "Magic Duel" - she's got some hard luck and a lot of obstacles, and maybe that arrogance is one way to help her not just feel like total crap about herself. She has trouble socializing with regular ponies, she's got a string of bad luck, her magic is mediocre at best and she relies heavily on smoke and mirrors...

 

...poor girl's got a lot of stuff in the way.

 

SA, on the other hand, is a prince of an entire kingdom. He was raised in a good home with a loving family in Canterlot, he's got natural good looks and charisma, a gorgeous wife, and he was the captain of the Royal Guard.

 

Shining Armor has a lot going for him, while Trixie...well, doesn't. That's why you should vote for The Great and Powerful Trixie, in my opinion

Shining Armor vs Trixie:

 

Shining Armor - I think Trixie's incredibly overrated and is my third least favorite pony in the entire show (which I went over in my blog)

 

Applejack vs Zecora:

 

This is a bit of a close one, but I have to choose Applejack.

 

Queen Chrysalis vs Mayor Mare:

 

Queen Chrysalis is an interesting villian in my favorite MLP episode, so she wins, plus, I have to jump on the "mayor mare = nub" bandwagon.

My heart hurts xD

 

During March Madness, I could tell who I'd support over the other pretty easily. Now I'm torn on many of these match-ups!

 

I do like Trixie, but had to go with Shining Armor. He's an amazing stallion. BBBFF to Twilight; loving husband to Cadence; a protector of the Empire and Equestria. His actions in a crisis speak well (defending Canterlot on his wedding week and stalling Sombra in the Frozen North). He's got a lot of heart. Many thanks to campaigners who reminded me.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

AJ vs Zecora was tough. I really respect Zecora. She's kind, wise, and enchanting.

 

A refugee in the Everfree. Helping whoever happens by in the blink of an eye. Though feared by ponies past, Ponyvillians have learned fast. Zecora's friendship is sure to last.

 

 

 

 

Gave the vote to AJ, but sending love Zecora's way 

 

Lastly, I voted Chrysalis based on my head-canon

Trixie is one of my favorite ponies in the whole show, behind only Rarity herself and Applejack I'm throwing every ounce of force I can behind her, but it's really, really close...

Currently sitting within range of a draw, I'm amazed at the difference in Group A.

 

Shining Armor is doing better than I expected against Trixie! It seems that almost everypony who has voted in his favor are also just as quiet and non-talkative as he is (it's not that he doesn't talk, but that he hasn't had much combined screen time).

 

On the other hoof, Trixie draws attention to herself during her appearances, and her supporters seem to be following her example!
