This item from Ace Attorney, which is a real item for the few of you who don't know, is called a magatama. In real life, it's little more than a decorative item, often used as jewelry. However, in the realm of Ace Attorney, when charged with spiritual energy, this item is able to allow the user to see the innermost secrets of someone telling lies.

 

... Well, okay, that's not a proper description. More along the lines that this allows one to tell that a secret IS being kept, showing the secrets being locked away in one's heart in a personified form of actual chains and locks. Knowing when someone is lying to you about something... that would be GLORIOUS
