Anadu Kune 668 January 6, 2014 Share January 6, 2014 It'll be interesting to see how they integrate this into the lore. How is it related to the elements of harmony and the ponies? How is it used? What conflict will rise that necessitates it? How is discord involved? However I can see it now. None of those questions will be asked. All we are going to see from now till the season finale is "Oh Hasbro has all control the show runners have none, the show's ruined forever!!!!" Well at least this time it wont be over something that was foreshadowed since the beginning of the show. Of course we will have to ignore all the episodes in-between the pilot and finale and of course any role the production team must by necessity play to support our absurd claim that Hasbro controlled the plot to each and every episode and the production team are paid to do nothing. Of course!!! Because if the production team doesn't have maximal autonomy it has zero. I'm sorry if I'm coming off as annoyed because I kind of am. Hopefully I've just caught the bad side of it but I'm already seeing that reaction.

Hopefully I've just caught the bad side of it but I'm already seeing that reaction. I am starting to see this too. I am also seeing, though, people not pleased with the direction the show it taking by going to new territory (more action, group involvement) and giving shout-outs to fans (grumpy cat, batman) which to me, are the show writers having fun with it. So it looks more like "damned if you do, damned if you don't". I think most people just want clones of S1 and 2. But I digress. Everyone has their opinions. I'm excited for whatever happens, except of course a series finale.
Anadu Kune 668 January 6, 2014 Share January 6, 2014 Well it true that you cant please everyone. I just wish people would take a more "Ill wait and see" sentiment. The whole "if they include one major toy element then they have no control" thing is really annoying.

I'm going to give them a chance and see how they take off but just like others who have no clue about this, I don't hold any high hopes for them.

Painted Lattice 131 January 7, 2014 Share January 7, 2014 Okay. Yeah. Those designs are overkill. What a disaster... they really don't look good at all, I don't know where to even begin. Fluttershy is the only one that's bearable to me. Crossing my fingers they don't transform like that in the show.

Jangocoolguy 433 January 7, 2014 Share January 7, 2014 (edited) Crossing my fingers they don't transform like that in the show. I get the sneaking suspicion they will >.> <.< Though hopefully they'll look better animated, like how the "powered up" EG designs looked better in the movie than in the prerelease pictures. Calling it now: this is how they'll defeat the Villain in the season Finale I just hope they don't spend the better part of the episode--and the following one-- lighting up and screaming (though I've long suspected that Fluttershy is the Pegasus of Legend)... ...and holy crap, did their cutie marks transform with them?!? GrimCW 658 January 7, 2014 Share January 7, 2014 Over on the FB page its touted as a toy line only for their "rainbow-fied" line of things.. so no idea what its supposed to be.. but all in all its just terrible... then again thats why I don't buy Hasbro's stuff... FlutterDash4072 189 January 7, 2014 Share January 7, 2014 Here's a complete picture with both Rainbow Power versions of the mane 6. Wow, Hasbro actually commissioned new vectors for this. IT'S HAPPENING!!! Okay, now that that's out of my system, I have to say that I like Rainbow's design. Rarity, Twilight, and Fluttershy are pretty good too. (Though Rarity and Twilight would both look better without the yellow.) Pinkie might be cute, I'll have to see a better picture to know for sure. Applejack looks pretty bad though. 2 Signature made by Wheatley

Skycoaster 697 January 7, 2014 Share January 7, 2014 I don't normally post in topics like this, but here comes my two cents. To me, it seems that Hasbro is trying to divide the shows demographic. Us Bronies get the Hot Topic stuff Like DJ-Pon3, Dr Hooves, and Depry. Everything else to them is fair game. Rainbow Power Ponies may just be there way of marketing the Mane 6 to a younger audience so they have to buy the latest version of their favorite pony. Only time will tell. Dark Qiviut 22,379 January 7, 2014 Share January 7, 2014 (edited) The Rainbow Power designs are very bad for one primary reason: They're so noisy. The bright colors clash way too much with the characters' set palette. The very bright colors don't work on Twilight, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, or Applejack because they're so bright, it hurts the eyes. The only one that actually looks tolerable is Fluttershy because of her muted imagery. It widens the color palette so much, the characters become unmemorable. Besides the simple silhouette, each character has a specific color palette they adhere to. When you see one color, your brain immediately thinks of that character. Each character uses only a few colors because less is more. Good character design is like a good logo; the simpler the design, the better they can remember it. Here, this obvious toy plugin is trying to go the opposite, and that hurts the characters' images. For several characters, the designs are very out of character. Despite being a flaunt, Rarity is also a very reserved character and wouldn't enjoy having all of the extremes clashing her. The same can be said for Twilight and Applejack. There are so many nuances, the designs become way too complicated. You have all of these details on the face, hooves, mane, tail, horn, muzzle, and flank. The more details the characters have, the busier they look, and the more distracting the designs become. SBaby 660 January 7, 2014 Share January 7, 2014 (edited) Despite what people are going to say, I doubt it'll be that big of a deal to fans. Everyone complained when they had Twilicorn, yet half the fanbase didn't quit the show cold turkey like people predicted. So I doubt this will be as catastrophic as people think it will be. But you can't honestly say you didn't see something like this coming. How many times has Hasbro done this with their franchises? It's how they sell toys. That said, it's still too early to tell if this is going to be permanent or not. It could just be like the Elements of Harmony where they're only in those forms when they're powered up, or it could be that their powered up forms are the more over the top versions of their designs on that package (which means the static designs are going to be a permanent change). We don't know. If it's temporary, then we probably won't see it all to often. And you never know. It may surprise you. I remember when Pretty Cure first came out, and nobody liked the designs of the characters. But once they saw the anime and what the characters could do, they thought it was awesome. So I say at the very least, give it a shot. And if it does lead to the show becoming more action-oriented, let it become more action-oriented. It could end up being really good. Jokuc 8,173 January 7, 2014 Share January 7, 2014 POWER RANGERS RAINBOW POWER WINX CLUB POWER FLOWER RAINBOW POWER wat Well, it's not for sure that something like this would be in the show itself since Hasbro always does stuff like this to sell their toys. However it doesn't seem way too unlikely so I will have to agree with the others and say that it could be some power that comes from the box. It will of course not be permanent... ...I hope. Cause it looks rather ugly to be honest :/
Jangocoolguy 433 February 1, 2014 Share February 1, 2014 Commercial for the toys, which actually uses those vectors semi-animated... GrimCW 658 February 1, 2014 Share February 1, 2014 (edited) Maybe the vectors are for the commercial and won't appear in the Show I kind of hope this.. unless its a one time, or rare appearance, than they could be an off put.. The show itself has been very neutral and not nearly "girly" as its predecessors or other "girls" shows, and thats always been a HUGE plus.. But this "rainbowfied" thing.. ugh that word alone is just odd.. But then again they already botched the ponified as coined by the fans and instead use "Pony-fy" or "Pony-fied"..... so no surprise. Ahh well.. as long as they keep up the good writing though, maybe it can work. Edited February 1, 2014 by GrimCW

Bronyette 835 February 1, 2014 Share February 1, 2014 It seriously looks like they got a case of the cutie pox. I personally don't like any of their designs, they look like they got a little girl to design them all with a crayon. They are simply too flashy for my taste. I wouldn't mind the extra mane colors too much, but the dumb sparkles and botched cutie marks everywhere look like utter crap. Click on the Banner for more info! Razege 6 February 2, 2014 Share February 2, 2014 I enjoy entertaining the thought that they might get special Harmonic abilities.... somewhat....Let us just hope that these designs are not concrete........ because they're complete rubbish and look like they're bedazzled.Of course.... seeing as the last episode is going to be written by Megan McCarthy.... fantasyTheorist 17 February 2, 2014 Share February 2, 2014 I think the designs are kind of cool. I wouldn't say they're "girly" so much as "flashy". Anywho, I soooo called this. If my theory turn out to be correct, I predicted that the box wouldn't just give them a new magical artifact, so my next guess was that it would give them a power-up/super form, or as I called it at the time, "going super saiyan." But it's too early to assume, only time will tell. Plus, I'm pretty sure that this new form won't be permanent. I mean Hasbro wouldn't pull that move on us... Right? 8I
mars 4,862 February 3, 2014 Share February 3, 2014 My theory is that the rainbow power, if canon, is recieved from the box. Each key so far as made their eyes rainbow-ish (or the colors of the mane six to be precise), and the Elements of Harmony always use rainbows anyway. Maybe it's sort of like sailor moon or equestria girls, where they all transform to these rainbow ponies to take down evil in Equestria. Maybe its one use only.
