I love Fire types, as well as many others...but Pikachu is my favorite species, and I'm closely bonded with my Raichu...so if I was only allowed to train one type, I guess I'd choose Electric.

My teams are usually mixed, and have 6 Pokémon all with different types. Anyways, I love all of the types so it's hard for me to pick just one, or two.

 

If I had to pick, I'd go with Fire. Mainly because my very first Pokémon ever was a Fire Pokémon. I've also had many decent Fire type companions over the years. (Typhlosion, Magmar, Arcanine, Rapidash, Infernape, Delphox, ect.)

I've always loved fire pokemon, because they're easily trained and are fun to battle with.

Plus, dragon is my favorite type in general.

I'd specialize in flying types. Flying types have huge diversity in typing and there are many that are quite scary as well. Here, I'll throw together a quick mono-flying team to demonstrate this:

 

Skarmory, Aerodactyl, Togekiss, Talonflame, Gliscor, Salamence

 

(I would love that to be my team, but I probably wouldn't be able to catch a bagon. Maybe it would be a drifblim, yanmega or crobat...)

Fighting, Ground, Ghost, and Ice all seem like nice options.

 

I've actually been pondering an all-Ground team. Claydol, Flygon, Quagsire, Stunfisk, Mamoswine, and Golurk. Now just gotta wait for the Bank to get me a Claydol...

 

Ice also has its prospects. Mamoswine, Jynx, Walrein, Aurorus, Abomasnow, and Vanilluxe would probably be my team on that front. Sounds cool to me, at least.

If I had to pick my top five types, well... Fairy Normal Ground Steel Water, in no particular order.

Of those, I'd probably enjoy raising Fairies or Waters most.

I'd probably go with ghost types as it's my favorite type. Gengar is one of my favorite Pokemon too, so that's a plus too. Water is my second favorite, but I'm not really a fan of Frillish and Jellicent, so I'd probably just stick with ghost types.

I would saynfairy or normal. Normal types are really unpredictable and very unique. Fairy cuz my fav pokemon is whimsicott.

Ghost, Steel, and Dark. I would have included Poison but the only Poison type I really use is Ghastly/Haunter (I don't often use Gengar).
