How heavy would a Pony be to carry?

In theory, you can make it more believable and you have every right to fantasize about bringing MLP closer to reality than it is now. However, to claim that the MLP world/universe is at all identical to ours in any way aside from simple aesthetics is... fallacy :P

I'm not trying to shit all over the idea or anything and I'm not trying to say like, "Omg it's just a show get over it" XD

But if you want to bring scientific theory into MLP, you also need to address that there are other possible theories that exist in our reality that could just as easily make MLP less part of our world than it is as a TV show. Like the multi-verse theory :P It can go both ways. MLP Universe could be a universe that is identical to ours in many ways or it could be a universe that is "identical" only in appearance but the planet is 10,000x that of Earth. So if a pony is calculated in our world to be 3-4ft tall, imagine that 10k times bigger on its own multi-verse planet O:

Basically, what I was trying to say in my original post and this one, is that science isn't always the answer to happiness. Especially when you're trying to use science to make something that isn't real, real.

Sure, it's fun for some people to use science to make things more tangible, but why can't it also be fun to just pretend? Not everything has to have an answer and sometimes finding out the answer sort of dispels the magic and whimsy of MLP. For myself? I like to imagine ponies would fit into the palm of your hand. X3

I guess that's just the difference between us.  You like to be creative with their world, having free range to enjoy yourself, while I take what's already present in their world, and make it more fascinating by adding scientific detail. It's just how each of us rolls.

I'd guess the Ponies are the same size as real ponies, and it would thus probably be better to ride the Pony (by having it pull a cart) instead of giving it a ride (unless you use a pickup truck).

It'd be a different story if the Ponies were this size: http://i.imgur.com/Iq0SKea.jpg

-Then, I'd be able to pet them like Discord pet Fluttershy.

There are also some Miniature Horrses that are small enough to hold as babies:

I've always imagined ponies to be pretty small, like 3' or 4' high. Keeping their proportions, I'd guesstimate their weight to be about 50-60 lbs, with Celestia and Bulk Biceps being about 100+.

Plus this may just be wish fulfillment--I've always wanted to give Pinkie Pie a piggyback. XD

I laugh at your idea that your way is more fascinating than mine. But whatever, like you said, it's how each of us rolls. :P carry on, carry on

Just for some perspective, the worlds smallest horse is a dwarf miniature horse (not a pony, ponies are considerably larger than this), is 57 pounds and about 17 inches tall. Unless some of you are particularly short, this little thing probably doesn't come up to your knee.

The smallest breed of horse is the Falabella, which is a miniature horse breed (again, not technically a pony), and averages about 30 inches tall when mature, and about 80-100 lbs. They are renown for being exceptionally light for their size.

The smallest breed of *pony* is the Shetland, and averages about 40 inches at the withers (non-miniature horses are measured to the withers, not the top of the head as the point is how high you have to go to get up on to backs.), and weigh between 400-600 pounds. This is as small as you can get and it still be technically a pony. Any smaller and you're dealing with miniatures and dwarfs, or like the first one a dwarf miniature.

The largest a pony can be and still be a pony is about 58 inches (14.2 hands) at the withers, and usually weight about 750-950 pounds.

And just for scale, the largest *horse* in the world is a Shire, Samson at 86 inches (21.2 hands) at the withers, weighing over 3,000 pounds.
