There are some people who say it is just another day. Now I would agree with them but I have to ask.

Why if it is another day am I up at 2:00 in the morning finishing a picter I drew, then scaned and then edited in Photoshop and on Autodesk sketch Pro consuming about eight hours of my life for a girl who probably won't even bat an eyelid at it.

To me that shows commitment so I ask you all what is this day to you?

Oh, Singles Shaming Day? A day where everyone flaunts their love while it's just another Friday to me.

I only love you platonically.

A day to be as cheesy, corny, and romantic as possible for someone you care about. Not because of the day, but because you care about that person enough to act that way for them. That's how I see it.

Vday has to be the most pointless holiday in my opinion.

While a good reminder for love, it's a commercial scam for anyone willing to shell out the money for their loved one.

Love should be celebrated everday with your special someone, not just a day.

It's a social convention where it's acceptable to spend $100s of dollars on material objects and dead flowers to ensure your partner you have feelings for them, when simply a nice day with them would suffice, but society has made it a norm to spend the most, show the most, and do the most, to demonstrate your affectionate feelings.

It means the start of reading weak and a massive study crunch. As for my perspective on Valentines day itself, it's an excuse to buy overpriced stuff from holiday-crazed retailers to foolishly try to prove a commitment through expensive gifts.

I do like the sentimental part of the holidays, but seriously, you don't need to spend lavish amounts of money to cherish a relationship. I hope people clue in soon, I really hate the red and pink theme around this time of year...

It's a nice holiday, but  like a lot of others, is filled with the bullshit of over marketing,.I try not to whine, complain about being single, but it would be nice to spend Hearts and Hooves day with somepony.

To me for the most part it is another day, I have never really had a relationship for reasons that will take forever for me to explain and although I for the most part have avoided the "forever alone" mentality because I know I will find someone someday I am only human and can sometimes feel a little twinge of jealousy when I see all these couples together. I do always manage to snap myself out of it though by reminding myself that I should be happy for these people and that soon it will be my turn.

Hmm. Vally's Day, huh? I remember I used to trade some mushy stuff online over to my former forum boyfriend, but I s'pose I can't be doing that now. IRL, I'm not looking for a relationship – too young, I guess. Single and proud of it. I'm encouraging my already-used-to-each-other parents to bond instead and suggested that they send each other a gift.

Honestly, though, I don't like it when some other people ruin the holiday for other couples just because they're jealous of them when they're single. I mean, it sucks not to be in a relationship, but it doesn't mean the ones who are have to be slandered by one's jealousy. Probably ought to be happy for the couples instead.

I am impressed by the response I have had from this and the points of view are fantastic I do agree with the one point that seems to be connected to the hole issue.

Why spend so much money to make people feel happy. I have to say I spent nothing on the item I have made for the person I am attracted to. I really don't car about the item though.

The point is I will get to see her face light up from it and I will get to see her. The time you spend with the people you love is golden and yes this day has something about it that makes people go OTT with what they do and how much they spend but the point is you Arte with some one you love and you should show that in the way you treat them every day not just this Friday.

If I could spend a day with a girls I love and can relate to in conversation then all I would need is a back pack of some food and drink and a nice sunny day to go down to the river Severn and listen to the birds, waves and just spend time with her.

Like I said the time you spend with the people you love is golden. You just need to start the clock.

That's just it, if you're in a relationship, it means something.  If you're not, it really doesn't.  You don't have to do anything elaborate to wow her, just be confident.  Good luck lover boy!

To me, its a day where I go about normal business. If there's sports on TV, then even better.

It is a reminder that I am alone, and a reminder that I will likely be alone for the foreseeable future and beyond. It's also the one day a year where everyone, not just people I know, tell me in a well-meaning but irritating way that I 'need to find a girlfriend'. They always make it sound like buying a gallon of milk or finding a penny on the sidewalk. I don't know why people assume I can just walk down the street and pick out girls at my leisure, but given that no one has shown the slightest interest in me in the last three years, I can safely say that I hate Valentine's Day with a passion that burns hotter than the core of Jupiter.

The holiday to remind me I'm Forever Alone :(

Ok but in all seriousness, I personally dislike this holiday because its even dumber than Halloween (or Columbus Day but that isn't even a holiday to me :P ) it really does a good job at leaving out the single people, I can easily call it *ironically* the loneliest holiday for me, because all my friends have girl/boyfriends and I'm just a third wheel.

Nothing. It means nothing. Nothing at all. Zilch, squat.

Well, other than the fact that it is the anniversary of the burial of one of the many Christian martyrs called Valentine.

The day when I either ignore it altogether, dream about my crush, or sit in my room with an invisible date named either Bob or Larry.

I know a Larry...

OT: It's a normal Friday.

Valentine's Day? Oh, you mean Single Awareness Day? You know, that day where everyone who's in a relationship does something for their partner? That day where this love concept is spread around and rubbed in your face? Yeah, it's that day that reminds me of how unlikely it is that I'll get a date. That or it reminds me of the relationships I had been in. It makes me feel like an idiot when I think about it. So I don't think about it as Valentine's Day. I think of it as February 14th. As in the February 14th that proceeds February 13th and precedes February 15th. It's just another day on the calendar to me. Much like every holiday and my birthday. It's no different than the previous day. The sun goes up. The sun goes down. It's just another day.

Valentines day is hardcore parkour training day. :D

I also wish luck to my friends before they will do something with their special someone.
