Hasbro announced that they have made plans for My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic to last another 5 years. If one 26 episode Season airs per year: then 5 seasons equals to 130 more MLP episodes, that equal to about 2,990 more minutes of pony content (not including some more movies maybe.)

THAT'S A LOT OF PONIES!

Photo Finish,that's her name.

Makin' every-pony pretty is her number one game.

She do what she do, to make you more than you.

No-pony gonna care if what we share is true.

Cause lies are beautiful, the truth is not.

Come on little mare, you better shake that plot.

You know that's what they really all came to see.

Can I ask for evidence of this information?

Not necessarily because I don't believe you but I want to show this to my friend :3

Anywho, having 5 more years of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic would be great, but I honestly think the shows just going downhill from here.

Hasbro said it earlier during an investor conference.

I am fairly certain that the words at least were used during this webcast. MLP: FiM is expected to continue for at least five years, but it could go on even longer. I'm sure that MLP's future isn't set in stone to end in five years. It could be very prosperous for Hasbro in five years time, in which case it might go on even further.

While I'm sure plenty of people have valid reasons to believe that Hasbro is simply milking its cash cow and that the quality of the series may decline at some point, I'm going to stay optimistic and open-minded until I have reason not to. It's highly possible that the show goes the way of SpongeBob SquarePants and loses its charm along the way but I'm just going to try and enjoy the ride until it's no longer fun. I can understand wanting to see the show end on a high note though, and with it continuing this long it's hard to picture it maintaining its magic.

I will be shocked if the show hasn't devolved into irredeemable garbage within five years. I though a fifth season was risky enough, but another five years? There are only so many good ideas for episodes before the writers are forced to come up with more and more bullshit to justify any more.  I predict massive retcons and series-destroying plot holes (than again I'm not so certain the latter hasn't already happened.

Intresting.. I heard about that also.

HUZZAH!!! I have no idea what would be the proper reaction to this news, but I am just going to post a polite yay and congratulations while freaking out at home and pulling out my hair in excitement.

Well, I hope there's no decrease in quality.  I'd hate to see it go the way Spongebob did.  At least another 5 years, I'm pretty excited to see what new songs are released in those years.

To the people making the Spongebob parallel here...

There's one key difference, the reason Spongebob went bad was due to the creator getting tired of it. He wanted the movie the be the big finale but Nick decided to tell him he couldn't end the show. With FiM we have staff and cast that actually love working on it and being a part of it.

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

For the next five years?!

I'm sorry. A fourth season was okay. A fifth season had me skeptical. To keep this show running for another five years, it's impossible for this show not to get old by then. No amount of faith in the writers or the developing staff will change the inevitability that MLP will decline in quality like all of those before it.

So...I'm guessing this will end everyone asking "will this be the last season?"  At least until season 9.

lol that episode is the definition of overhyped garbage

If they do intend to have the show last that long, then I'd want to wait for it to play out. There are plenty of shows that were strong and consistent through out a long period

Guys, guys. Just because something runs a long time doesn't mean it's going to get bad. Doctor Who anyone? That show has been running for damn a century and it's still good.

That's a good point, though, what's stopping the current staff to not leave the show withing those five years?

51 years =/= a century. Also, that's one of the very few examples, if not the only example, of a show not becoming total crap after an extensive running time.

The Simpsons, Family Guy, Spongebob Squarepants, and Phineas & Ferb are prime examples of a cartoon declining in quality after a long period of time. This show's fourth season so far hasn't been helping in terms of an optimistic future, either.

That's great I just hope it doesn't turn into another Spongebob and grow stale over the next 5 years.

True, hopefully they manage to keep up some original ideas for the show, and not turn into another Spongebob.
