What stuff do you use for gaming?

Fire Bomb

Recommended Posts

So, i got a new computer mouse recently and it got me thinking, what kind of things do people use for gaming, other than their computers.

I'm a bomb. . . made of fire.

So I bomb things. . . with fire. . . and do nothing else

NOTHING!

For me it mostly depends on what I'm playing, mouse and keyboard for mobas, RTSes, and first person games, a hacked PSP for 2D-platformers, Xbox controller for everything else, and a PS3 controller for the second player when I have visitors. I have a secondary laptop next to my desktop to run Skype calls and youtube videos without taxing my games and a mobile phone with a bluetooth keyboard running my supplementary skype for instant messaging. I also have a 10 meter cord connecting to my TV in case I want to play party games with people. Other than that I have a large number of (3)DSes which, believe it or not, I play on more than on my painstakingly set up computer.

If I tried to run a steam game on my computer it would probably explode. As for Xbox I used to use turtle beach X12 headphones but the mic broke, also I use a custom luna Xbox 360 controller.I have an old DSI XL but I never use it.

I have a fairly hefty rig although i haven't gamed much lately. I use a R.A.T. M mouse, Corsair Vengeance K90 keyboard. I use a 47" LG 3D tv as my monitor. My computer: Crosshair V with 16GB 1333 and a Ph2 965BE watercooled with a Corsair H50. I have two Crucial M4's in Raid-0, Say what you will but i use a Creative X-fi Titatium for my sound card. Powercolor 6990 is what runs my games and all of that off a OCZ 1000watt PS housed in the Bitfeenix Colossus. I feel like i'm missing something...

Oooo a settings thread.

I'm using a Razer Deathadder 1800dpi edition @ 500hz on a Steelseries QcK+ Fnatic edition, sensitivity is roughly 33cm/360 with mouse acceleration disabled.

My monitor is just a 22" ASUS 60Hz (bad) one, but I'm saving up money from a Sunday job I do alongside my studies to buy a 120hz BenQ monitor, because that stuff actually makes a difference yeah :D

The sensor on the Deathadder is absolutely beautiful, although I ran a polling rate test and it flickers from a stable 499hz input down to about 470 when I make very long swipes over my mousepad. I guess that's what I get for using a low sens. :P

Also I built my own computer, had it for almost two years when it was considered fairly high-end.

CPU: Intel i5 3570k @ 4.2 ghz + Xigmatek Apache cooler

RAM: 4x4GB (16GB) Kingston HyperX 1600MHz

GPU: AMD XFX R7970 Double Dissipation Black Edition @ GHz

HDD: Western Digital 2TB

PSU: Corsair TX850

I can run anything I want on any setting, but due to me starting university next year I haven't found much time for gaming, although I was hugely into QuakeLive before. I plan to play the new Elder Scrolls Online game when it comes out, though.

EDIT: Just played a round of quake with a wmo 1.1a, so damn nice.

For the rare times I boot up the windows side of my computer for gaming, I have these peripherals:

- R.A.T.5 mouse (which I'm thinking of replacing. I'm getting tired of having to keep fixing it on Linux)

- IBM Model M keyboard (literally straight out of the mid-80's, but I love it to death)

- Logitech G430 headset

- 21.5 inch LCD monitor (HP 2159M)

A ps3, a cheap keyboard, an ok TV and ps3 controllers, of course.

I also use my laptop; it's kind of old now, doesn't handle most modern games all that well. The ps3 controllers are also used here because I just don't like mouse + keyboard controls. The recording software gets some use every once in a while.

Headphones. Plug'em straight into the TV/laptop.

An ipod for a change in music when I've got to do a lot of grinding (Disgaea/ BlazBlue/ Pokemon).

Oh, and a 3ds.

I've got quite a bit for gaming, though admittedly I use very little of it frequently.

For consoles, I've got a NES, a SNES, N64, Gamecube, Wii, Playstation 2, Xbox 360, and an Xbox One all in the basement for everyone. Quite a bit, huh?

For handhelds, I've got my good old Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, an original blue DS, and a 3DS XL.

PCs, I have a real crap-like laptop that can sometimes run some weak games.

All I ever really use (unless taking a trip through the magical lands of nostalgia) is the Xbox 360 and One, and my 3DS.

Xbox One is a really good console, which I've got.

I also occasionally play on Steam, but I don't have any special gaming equipment for that, just the standard old W8 mouse and keyboard.

I have the GBA4iOS emulator for my iPod 5 and I play Zelda and Pokemon on that.

That's all, really.

Well, I've got my rather dated gaming computer (2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo OC'd to 3.12 GHz, 4 GB Kingston Hyper-X DDR2 RAM, MSI GT640 2GB DDR3, 1 TB Seagate Barricuda, 450W PSU, Antec Overture II case), along with a Thermaltake Challenger Pro keyboard, E-Blue Mazer mouse, a 22" 1080p Polaroid HDTV, Logitech Z323 sound system, and a pair of Beats HD Solos.

It gets me by...kind of. I SERIOUSLY need to upgrade my mobo, CPU, and RAM.

And I also own a Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, and a Nintendo 2DS.

I game solely on PC, except for The Last of Us and Journey ^^

Self built rig with Gigabyte R9 280x and Intel 4770k, not overclocked. (Yeah I know the k version is waste, I might plan on clocking though)

Razer Deathadder 2013. An optical mouse, because I can't stand mouse acceleration. And if you didn't know, EVERY laser mouse has mouse acceleration.

QCK Mass. A solid, thick mouse pad.

BenQ XL2420TE. A 144hz monitor, which enables me to play @144 fps instead of just 60. This makes a huge difference actually, and I recommend everyone who gets 60+ fps in-game to buy a 144hz monitor.

CM Storm TK. A mechanical keyboard with brown keys. Honestly I have found mechanical keyboards to be overrated. They are indeed more comfortable, but what a price difference! When it comes to the choice of brown keys, I haven't tried much of red or blue so I can't say if it suits me more. I might buy more keyboards to try out. I know I said they are overrated, but I LOVE my gaming, ok?

All the other things like hard disc, RAM, case and stuff, aren't that interesting talking about ^^

Console-Wise -  Original Xbox, Xbox 360, 3DS, N64, Gameboy Color, Gamecube, and a Wii. I personally wouldn't mind getting a PS2, Xbox One, and Wii U sometime in the future.

PC:

Headsets - Sennheiser PC 310 Gaming Headset. No one games with me anymore so I use them to listen to music, mostly or for things like Skype.

Controller - I use a wireless Xbox 360 controller since I'm still trying to get used to mouse + keyboard.

I plan on eventually updating my PC's graphics card, not very soon though since it's new and the only problem I've ran into so far is the fact that it won't be able to run Watch Dogs, a game I was looking forward to. Makes me glad I kept my Xbox 360. And I run all of these things on a 50 inch Phillips 1080p TV.

My computer can't run jack so I don't use it for gaming.

Console wise though I sold my PS3 recently because of the stupid disc reader not working. Right now I have a Wiiu, regualr Wii, Gamecube, PS2 and a 2DS. I mostly use my Gamecube to play stuff like SSBM, RE4, Starfox Adventures, Wind Waker etc.

Xbox I use a wireless controller with a Tritton headset.

PC, I use a wired controller. But on some games, I"ll use keyboad and mouse, but not many. Keyboard is a Saitek Cyborg v7  and Mouse is a Logitech M210 or something. model number has worn off of it.

I dont' have a PC headset, so I don't do any chat or anything.

I mostly game on my PS3 so for that I have:

A red Afterglow controller

Turtle Beach headset with mic (PX3 I believe)

For everything else (3DS, PSP and PC), a pair of blue Sony earbuds and a wireless mouse for my laptop.
